    Honestly love that some companies like Norco and Rocky Mountain are doing “park” versions of their big hitting enduro bikes with a dual crown fork. Just a very playful dh bike basically

      @Bill P. wrong? No, no i'm not

    • @thelongestnameinthecomment9677
      @thelongestnameinthecomment9677 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Bill P. first of all, if you're planning on riding freeride like this bike is intended, you probably don't care about weight, definitely not a single pound of weight difference (this bike is a shuttle and park bike for big freeride features, the fact you can pedal it up hills is just a bonus) second, the weight difference between the fox and marzocchi is incredibly small for the price difference (both run by the same company: fox suspension) for a marzocchi z1 and a marzocchi coil it's about 1.5 lbs, so it would weigh about 39.5lbs in total, 1/3 of that weight difference is from the heavier coil (i'm assuming the top of the line model comes with an SLS spring, don't feel like checking. If not the difference is less than a pound) obviously in this case you lose a bit of adjustment, (not a big deal for a freeride bike) and you add about 1 pound. You also save about 1000 dollars (from a quick search so this isn't exact) i'd say it's a worthwhile tradeoff don't you? The moron here is the guy who randomly guessed the weight difference and also assumed that freeriders care about weight more than their wallet...
      (Sorry if any of this is kind of hard to understand properly, i'm on mobile so it's hard to read over and check the comprehension)

    Good video. I need some advice, I’m currently still riding a 2007 Norco Six two. 160mm bike, 67.5° front fork, and 40.2 lbs.
    I’d really like to buy a new 2023 shore A1 but I’m worried about using it to climb. It’s lighter than my current bike. The biggest difference would be the added 4.5° head tube angle, 130 mm longer wheelbase, and an extra 20mm of suspension.
    I think the shore would have a more comfortable seating position, but the added length and steeper head tube angle has me worried about climbing

      @Bill P. yeah they try but they literally took a free ride bike with lots of travel and made it bigger with big wheels and long chainstays to plow down stuff, much less for hucking x ups off a drop. But norco is definitely going in the right direction making a dedicated bike again and hopefully more brands catch on too.

    This is another enduro bike with the title "freeride". The very last truly freeride bikes in market was the kona process 167 and the scott voltage 710. I miss the golden years of freeride bikes, I dont want a big and heavy dh bike, but either, I dont need a super capable uphill bike. I want a bike to mess around hard: single crown fork, dh transmision (even a single speed it would be super nice) and that the frame can handle 26" wheels for more fun.

  • @justingt3rs
    @justingt3rs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    8:56 thats more on Norco's side to do something about in my opinion. But im very curious to know how the design process goes between a frame manufacturer and the shock supplier. Aside from maybe the internal shim stack, I dont see how Fox can reasonably allow every frame manufacturer to have the shock be exactly the way they want it. ultimately they can but it would be never ending for them and not profitable. Fox is going to make the shock as small as they can, high speed rebound is often on the bottom depending on internal design.

    • @vitalmtb
      @vitalmtb  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a fair point but this is the third bike we've tested where reaching this dial is an issue.

    • @justingt3rs
      @justingt3rs 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vitalmtb theres definitely a lot of stress in that area so dont get me wrong its not easy for the frame manufacturer either. Last thing they want is a frame problem. Putting the shock so deep in the frame allows for them to have the 180mm. They could have put a shorter dhx2 model with a higher up bracket but youd have less travel...and its possible the bike was originally to have the regular dhx2 where this wouldnt be a challenge

    I have a feeling not everyone is hyped about the fact that bikes are getting more and more longer, he himself at the end of the video mentions that it is not as playful due to it being long. I really dont understand the current trend with bikes getting longer and more slack (63 degree HT on a 180 enduro - wtf, guess a Grim Donut wont be as absurd in the future). This year I want to get something with a bit more travel and looking at the geos of all the bikes looks like Im gonna have to go with a YT Capra since its literally the only one thats not maxxed out compared to others, shame though
