Great question! Depends on your goal when going… If you are going to relax, eat food, and drink.. no because you can do that without excellence club. If you decide to do excellence club you do get access to a special portion of the beach, access to a special restaurant only available through excellence club, a free hydrotherapy session, and I believe one free activity. Yes it is reimbursed, I used my Amex as well. I imagine its for incidentals.

Why did they pre-authorize $500 when you booked in? I've never been to a resort in the Dr that does that
They did it with the lady in front of me as well. We were in separate parties so they were consistent. Not sure why. Maybe a new policy.
That money is put on the account for items from the stores etc. if not used by you not taken off card.

Yes, the water was fine. At time one side became more choppy than the others.
