- We traveled to the Dominican Republic for a 6 night stay at the all-inclusive Excellence Punta Cana. During our stay, we visited Saona Island, went scuba diving, and rode on horseback on the beach and in the jungle.

I was at EPC in January and EEC in August. I’m torn between which I liked best. I loved the club pools at EPC - though had difficulty getting in the cascade pool. Very awkward for someone with mobility issues. EEC does not have club pools. EEC has more restaurants, EPC had better entertainment. The menu offerings are also a little different. So what does one do to decide - keep going to both!
EPC is so much better in my opinion.
EEC only having one main pool is such a let down.
Also we prefer to go on vacation to resorts that feel like a tropical paradise.
EEC was too modern for that. Just felt like we were in Vegas with a bad pool lol
We're going to EPC this winter, can't wait! At other Excellence resorts, on our first day we always set up coffee to be delivered to our room each morning at 7:30. Every night we'd put $3-$5 in our little room service cupboard and they'd leave coffee service, two pots of coffee and a plate of bacon. We never trust those in-room coffee makers, they gross me out ;)

Great video!! How did you guys get to the island tour? Did you rent a car or did they provide a shuttle?
We booked the tour through trip advisor and it came with a shuttle pick up, took about 2 hours total to get to the docks since they had to pick up other guests as well. But the tour was definitely worth it.
When you book your stay at any Excellence resort on their website, free roundtrip transfer is included.
That's what we thought as well though. We were on their website and booked our reservations through them, but because we also booked our flights through them they still charged us for our round trip. It's a scam.
@aasadventures-de8st Oooh, yes you only book your stay only through the resort...never book your flights through a resort.
I thought everyone knew that.

How was the Saona Island tour? And where did you book the horseback riding? Thanks!
It was good! The food offered was amazing. Beaches were pristine. We booked the small group tour so we could arrive sooner than everyone else and spent more time on the island. Definitely worth paying extra. We booked the horseback riding through Trip Advisor, by Rancho El Diferente. In fact, all our activities except for the scuba diving was booked through Trip Advisor.
My wife and I are going here- is the horse back riding on property as part of resort accommodations? Or is that a third party excursion?
It's a third party excursion but right next to the resort. Here's some facts:
Great price- you can check the description for who we went with on trip advisor.
-The resort also has option to sign up for excursions, but those are always paired with other excursions and we wanted to just horse back ride. We also were the only people in the excursions compared to other groups we saw of 12 plus.
-Lasts about 2-3 hrs
- They run the horses a bit in the grasslands during the ride
- A guy will take a photo of you together at the beginning and try to sell a printout of that photo in a frame at the end, don't worry the guide will take photos of you with your own phone.
- They will end the ride at the small village next to the resort for the vendors to have a chance to sell you things, they try to sell hard!
How come you didn’t just visit the Coffee shop on property?
@Jesse Jennings @Jesse Jennings We went to the coffee shop everyday on the property. That's also where we got our icecream as well. We couldn't get coffee 5am in the morning before our excursion so that's why we made coffee in room. I also wanted to make a classic coffee making clip, but it turned out to be super funny instead.

@Jesse Jennings We liked the coffee alot. They also had alot of different ways they could make your drink. Not the sweetest like in America, but still good!
