Restoring American Racing Vector wheels

  • In this video, we are restoring some vintage American Racing Vector aluminum wheels/rims. These are classic turbine style wheels in a GM bolt pattern of 4.75. They are the same style of wheel that was found on the General Lee in the Dukes of Hazzard TV show. However, those would be a different bolt pattern, being Mopar.
    I'm not happy with the way cutting the tape left the lines. I ended up repainting these rims.

    Nice information. About to do this same thing. I have a 69 Charger with the same paint scheme as you. I'm torn between masking off like you did or painting the rims and then sanding/polishing the machined edges.

      I don’t like the way mine turned out. Cutting tape left lines that weren’t crisp. I’m going to redo it with thin tape instead of cutting.

    Good work. I have the old school 14 inch style. Looking to do this. What paint did you use? Sorry I must of missed it in vid.
