At 16:14 you say rivet doesnt see any forces so use superglue. However by leaving the rivet extended out the bottom of lure it will receive full force of the fish pulling on the line and push the rivet tube back up. Otherwise as usual great video, i will be makingone of these soon. Love your workshop too. Good luck and be careful with the gas leak in your boat.. scary stuff.
Thanks Franco, I enjoyed the build! I plan on making some more (smaller 2 - 2 3/4") J-Plugs this winter that I use for walleyes. The local walleyes are usually very close to the bottom in 20 feet of water so I fish the J-Plugs behind a "bottom bouncer" weight ( 3/4 once of lead cast onto an 16 inch piece of coat hanger). Sorry to hear about the boat problem, hope that you can sort that out quickly! Cheers! Hank
Great work! I love this build. This is a lure that I'd love to make in the future and I haven't seen any other videos for this type yet. Thank you, and good luck with the boat!
I made a few cypress lures. There are indestructible. I made a flying fish lure for mahi mahi. I could catch 10 or so before the wings broke. I used lightweight plexiglass and poured a plastic 10" swimbait body . I only get to the GOM every few years. I used these when i was working on a platform and grass mats floated by.
Nice one Franco, love the look of that one, cant wait to see it in action. I've taken to making my own eyes similar to what you did here. But I use 3 different size hole punches and use black electrical tape for the first largest circle, then shiny tape (washi tape is good), followed by a black pupil of electrical tape. If u tap in some flat head nails into a board so they are only in enough to stand up, the nails act as a holder. You can batch out a heap this way. Then dab on epoxy, enough so that you get a bulge, but the surface tension holds the bulge if that makes sense. Once set, they are great and better than the generic ones you can buy. Good luck with the boat, hope you have got it sorted.
Thanks for another good video Franco. I'm interested to see it being trolled. I might make one for fish with teeth so would need to replace the braid with wire
@@EngineeredAngler I have old lure not sure what it's called I was going to send you a picture of it but need to how I can send it to you I think it's will know and maybe even on you would make and maybe even improve
I am guessing that tank is buried in the hull? If the tank is bad you could always run it with an external tank. It’s always something with these boats.
Was so hoping that you would find the name of your lure and manufacturer. The two worst things that can happen to a vehicle are electrical and fuel issues. I've always had better luck fixing the mechanical ones. Hope you we able to find the problem and fix it! The trolling lure looks fantastic. The eyes turned out quite nice for an improve solution.
The j plug might just be a copy of the Scottish salmon kynock killer lure they have been around for a century their great lures for many species how’s about a giant blade spinner build for saltwater predators 🎣 tight lines from Ireland 🇮🇪
Hello my friend today is a very sad and emotional day for me today 4 years ago I los my mom to palmaney disease in November 10 of 2019 I miss my mom muchas gracias por Este video de hacer luer me hace sonreír. Disfruto ver tus videos de señuelo, me ayuda. para no llorar
I’m considering making a lure that looks like a baseball bat for a family friend. I would love to see you take on the idea as I can’t find any examples when Googling. I think the idea of a bigger front and smaller back even with a knob at the back end should wiggle around quite nicely.
Wood is better than plastic because it has a lower moment of inertia. Also, this is so freaking close to being a bass oreno. You need to make the double-action wonder.
Moment of inertia has to do with the distribution of mass, not with the material . So with hollow plastic lures you would be right but, why would that be better? One could argue that a higher moment of inertia would give the lure greater rotational stability.....that might actually be better. Interesting idea though.
thanks for this build from all the salmon and steelhead guys....awesome
Thank you. I have one and never really understood them until now. I was using mine as a wake bait
Lol
Good tip on the stray UV from windows in the workshop during daylight hours. Great video .. cheers.
Glad it was helpful!
Great stuff!. Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good job Franco. I grew up fishing for Great Lakes salmon and trout and J-plugs were the go to lure back in the 70’s and 80’s
Very cool!

In the saltwater plug making scene, we call that a wacky mack or crazy mack color scheme, great job as always.
Yeah that plug will be trailing behind my sailboat soon...
the old ball and chain - pretty cool
Another great video to make the day even better!
You are so kind
Great video as always. I'm a big fan of yours from Russia. I wish there were more videos like this!!
Thank you very much!

Me quito el sombrero ante tu profesionalidad.

J-plugs are a legendary lure here in the Pacific Northwest.
For the algorithm!

Nice build. Good luck with boat, B.O.A.T break out another thousand
Fingers crossed!
Liked the eyes, good luck with the gas line!
Very nice... thanks for the video, they are to expensive to buy and run in most parts of the river... making your own makes it a viable option..
👍👍👍👍👍

Looks like the old Zara Spook? Top water twitch bait.
i suggest putting a bead over the knot to protect it
The idea is that the body of the lure separated from the hooks so that when the fish shakes it head it can't throw the lure.

Thanks! Will do!
I hope it all worked out for you!
God, it's beautiful!

Didn't heddon make that lure?

Just look at a picture and do it! It would be so simple.
Cool idea!
Hope that's not your fuel tank leaking in your boat. Positive thinking, It's probably the hose..
Ask retro Bassing he might know he’s in Fla too

Jitterbug torpedo
That black lure...Zara spook?

Good luck. Typical boat trouble.....a hole in the water that you throw your money into.
You got that right!
Jitterbug
I have made a couple versions
Nice lure... but boats, can't live withem' can't live without 'em!
Very true!
