The Rorschach Devices Apophenia Delay is a straight forward digital delay up to 1 second that focuses on finding the right delay voicing for your rig, whether that be warm slapback, Lo-Fi psychedelic or crisp, near-infinite repeats.
The first thing you’ll notice is Rorschach’s unique LED light ring that surrounds the Apophenia, while labels on the knobs themselves make it super easy to dial in.
The 3-way filter with accompanying Tone control is the place to dial in your favorite delay sound. In the middle you have full range delay that can roll off high end without losing repeat strength. Filter upwards gives you High-Pass, a repeat that gradually rolls off low end like a vintage tape delay where the Tone controls how fast it brightens. Finally, Low-Pass in the down position rolls of high end with every repeat and with the Tone knob controlling the transition to super dark echoes.
A main highlight of the Apophenia is its Trails knob. Usually, delay pedals don’t give you any option to select the amount of repeats in Trails mode. With the concentric knob, you can set the normal repeat amount with the inner ring while the outer sets the Trails amount independently from one to infinite self-oscillation. The Apophenia is handbuilt in St. Louis MO, equipped with top mount jacks, buffered bypass and the softest touch footswitch! Love it! It's unlike any other guitar I have here, so it gets a lot of playtime. I had just restrung it before the vid so those minis definitely had some zest!
