    It seems like half of the street is forever chasing the other half of the street around saying "we need to talk."

      That and the crap acting from the guy who played Les. Not sure how to do the scene? Just shout the lines. God knows how he ever passed an audition. Bad actors usually get the job because of their looks, something that hardly applies here.

      @ogagarcia5710 Sally should have slapped Kevin as well. He went along with the affair behind Sally's back and when Sally was visiting her sick mother as well. So that makes Kevin every inch as bad as Nathalie.

    @Roryvhs - Is it just me, or does anyone else see Fred Elliott as a sort of human version of Foghorn Leghorn? The largeness, the loudness, the phrase "I say" before speaking and the repeating himself once he'd started, also his general bombastic demeanor. If he'd walked into the Rovers singing or humming "Camptown Races" a few times, that would have sealed the deal on the resemblance.

    • @Staggercfc
      @Staggercfc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I can't remember the date of the episode but there was a scene in the Rovers with Fred at the bar. Betty Turpin was standing behind the bar . Suddenly Fred shouted "SCOTCH AND THREAT, PLEASE, BETTY!" or something like that. You could clearly tell that the actress who plays Betty (Betty Driver) was caught off guard and visibly jumped at Fred's loudness. Definitely not in the script, the poor lady was really startled but like a professional she promptly carried on. I replayed that bit a lot and had a good laugh.

      @@pamelahenson1733 In real life Fred Elliott would not have been as well liked as he is in Coronation Street. He is so pompous and arrogant and talks crap. Also he has often been nasty to Ken Barlow. It's a wonder Ken Barlow does not loathe Fred Elliott as much as Mike Baldwin. It is beyond me what Audrey sees in Fred Elliott.

      @@simonshreeve5580 I do agree. I think for some reason, possibly legal, they like to use fictional locations. Also in the UK, we have the main city, and then towns and villages outside of that. Between 58:19 and 59:07 for a change Rita has had a go at someone who has really deserved it. Rita was right to say what she said to Kevin. It is about time someone made him see that he was the one in the wrong. There was a point in time when Sally defended Kevin against the apprentice mechanic who Kevin was being a real pig to. The thanks Sally get is having Kevin cheat on her with another woman behind her back.

    I think Les Battersby should have arrived without the family in tow. I think this is why some don't like the introduction of the Battersby name. Janice was pretty dull, Toyah and Leanne just went on to be whingers. Les was a fun character and could have bounced off the various residents to play the villain/chump. It didn't quite work to have him in a family, however fittingly dysfunctional the family was.

    • @lynnem3300

      Are you in the US where "Sir" is commonly used as a mark of true respect? Only in the UK it's how students routinely address male teachers. That's to say that Toya's use of the word in this context is more about the culture than about real respect and would be exactly the same as calling him "Mr. Barlow."

      Unfortunately Sally does take Kevin back five years later and marries him which is mores the pity. Then in 2009 or 2010 Keven has an affair with his best friends wife behind Sally's back who is in the shape of Molly Dobbs. In 2021 Kevin has the cheek to say how badly Maria behaved over that business with Aiden Conner when he was engaged to Eva.
      Having an affair with a woman that is married is worse than muscling in on a person that is engaged. In the first place Aiden Conner was within Maria age group and not young enough to be her offspring like Molly was young enough to be Kevin's daughter.
