What was funny is how all Rita’s friends thought she would love it 😂 Sign of the times, people thought that for a woman, being married aas the be all and end all.
Oh wow. Just heard Deidre say to Susan that 'I told you so' wasn't Ken's style. That wasn't just Ken's style, it was his entire personality. Getting one over on someone he felt superior to, which was more or less everyone, was why that guy got up in the morning. Ken Barlow - the only man in Weatherfield with a degree, the only teacher and the only social worker. He should have been the baron of Weatherfield, never mind a local councillor or even mayor.

When Susan Baldwin says she may as well be married to Bluebeard, I was wishing she had been. Then he could have shut her in the cellar and given our ears a rest from her complaining and grating voice. On a brighter note, by late 1987 at least the Susan-Mike marriage was on its last legs.
Susan was dreadful, childish and unbearable. God knows what Mike was thinking when he married her. She was never happy, complaining about being regarded as the 'little woman' or a 'brood mare'. I got the impression that all the poor guy wanted was to be a father to a child, not half a dozen. She might not have been brought up by Ken, but she was definitely his daughter, self-righteous, never uncomplaining and far less impressive in reality than she was in her own head. Deidrie, as annoying as she was, didn't deserve to be lumbered with Ken, nor Mike with Susan.
I think susan was extremely patient with mike's male shauvanistic way. He can make his own tea..after all, . he does have hands ....and a brain . Being married to mike baldwin would turn any good woman sour.
And ....he only married ...her to make babies! My god!!!!. Yep, susan was well shot of that one! She couldve ended up in that kitchen forever!!! Well done susan..
2:48:41 Has Alec not rumbled what Bet is doing yet? Once married, is it not classed as a joint tenancy? Therefore Bet would not owe Alec the money she borrowed off of him. As far as I'm aware.
