Me N Zeb decided to take advantage of a perfectly calm Friday morning and take an extensive trip in the Lund Predator 1870 Jon Boat, aka the "Green Bastard" several miles across Northern Grand Traverse Bay in search of large feeding Lake Trout. We headed out as early as possible to get to greet the sunrise over beautiful Grand Traverse Bay, and were definitely not disappointed.

Are we sure that first fish wasn’t a giant splake? The tail was more squared, the fins had some red and a fin was clipped so it was stocked. Just wondering.

I am fairly certain he's a Laker. He didn't have the telltale wormy squiggles on his back that Splake tend to have. No spots on his sides either, just the typical Lake trout pattern. Anything's possible though!

Nice fish! I have the same boat but a 2070 SS up here in the St Lawrence/Lake Ontario region of NY.

Nice! I love it for skinny water, I went with the 18' cause I wanna eventually re-power it with a Merc 115/80 Jet and be able to run rivers too! It's not ideal on the big water, but every once in a while I get a chance to run a few miles off shore and do something like this video!

@@jackpinesavageoutdoors300 I have the 150 on mine and take it up real skinny with the motor trimmed out of the water. It drafts pretty well. Was on lake Ontario this morning and it was nice and calm. 2 footers in this boat feels pretty sketch.

@@zmcc7038 Have you ever caught a fish, dumped about 50 sinkers down it's mouth, then set it free??

Thank Youuuu!! We don't keep the big ones. A trout as big as these ones are typically 12-15 years old, and their meat isn't as good as the smaller ones. Plus I like to let the biggest fish go back into the system cause then their genetics get spread to the next generation of trouts!
