you really explained this so damn well without a nerdy analysis. thanks
Switched to display and my monitor is finally doing the hz advertised on the box😂😂
lmao im getting mine today hopefully its legit
@@iyo1xhow’d it go v
@@jojo_manolo its way better u get more options like on hdmi it only shows 120 hz while on dp it shows 165 hz which is my refresh rate while when i was hdmi i didnt get that option
and my game fell smoother its like i got motion blur on or something and less input lag@@jojo_manolo
sounds like monitor ghosting look into it@@iyo1x
Displayport is the better standard for audio and visuals and is open source. Only reason HDMI is the standard is due to movie corporations wanting the films protected with the junk they put in HDMI
Gaming better for hdmi or dp?
@@m.i.channel2763DP
Dp is better@@m.i.channel2763
Both HDMI and Display Port (DP) carry audio. However, not bad, on simple expansion. However, he is wrong about D, LTT has a video on how DP is better. The industry just will not set standard in this video cable type. Both are good choices, but DP has better and higher refresh rates than HDMI.
HDMI 2.1 can cope with Dolby true HD DTS-HD master audio and Dolby Atmos and up to 7.1 channels rather stick with that
Display port 4k 144FPS 😎💪🏼
I’m pretty sure that DisplayPort 1.4 can’t do 4k at 144hz without chroma subsampling, but hdmi 2.1 can do 4k 120hz

Check version, the resolution, frame rate supported. And select the cable accordingly. Not all cables are created equal

Concise. Thank you
Thank you so much
Neither cable causes lag or interference. So that's kind of stupid.

I use displayport 1.4 on my main monitor used for games and hdmi on my second monitor used for other apps
liked for the reason there was no dilly dally. just straight up to the point.
Why isn’t this talked about more often? will this make play a bit better? I feel like I need more fps
To me they are exactly the same. I may sound ignorant but that's how I feel. The other format is just to add additional monitor.
I think you preferred hdmi over display port for daisy chain configuration but that is just the opposite of what is ideal.
DP can be daisy changed Dell monitors have that capability along with Lenovo too. So far those only monitors I've delt with at work in the IT department
Display port is so much better, also both have great audio support. I hope DP becomes the new standard. Display port is better then HDMI in almost everyway its also open source.
My monitor came with displayport to displayport cable, my laptop has hdmi port >.
My monitor is having trouble with tje HDMI so I have no choice but to use DP and so far its great.
If you want to minimize peanuts go with the display port 😂
I notice the color looks less vibrant on 8k hdmi and is smoother. The 2.1 DP is better as far as response but lacks in overall better quality
HMDI and DP cables has nothing to do with color the monitor itself does might want recheck the spec on your display. Not all monitors are created equal and sometime need calibration but also cable might be bad depending on the quality of the cable.
Connecting monitors together, if u mean daisy chaining, DP is way to go
I thought DP also transmit audio
So for art purposes (printing, drawing tablet/monitor, etc), go with HDMI
and switch to Display for gaming.
Sound about right?
yes
Not really?
He did get some shit wrong in this, particularly "if you want to connect a bunch of monitors" - displayport is much better at that, although HDMI has been a sad standard for a while
I'd personally recommend, if you're solely doing gaming and art, use DisplayPort 100% of the time
Research for yourself the benefits, they're not as simple as this guy says they are👍
@@z5tmIs DisplayPort good for casual use also? I’m a heavy gamer and run 2 monitors and cirrenfly on hdmi 2.1 on both my GPU and both of my monitors have ports for it, just curious if it would somehow perform worse doing mediocre stuff like watching TH-cam out scrolling facebook on my 2nd monitor
@@DeanWebbMarineGaming23144They should be about the same, considering TH-cam runs at a maximum of 60 FPS - although, display port CAN have lower latency
@@z5tm I’m just confused rn, cause people are saying DisplayPort is better but HDMI 2.1 but DisplayPort 1.4 caps out at 34gbps or something like that HDMI 2.1 caps out at 48gbps which should be better for latency and overall performance
Can I have a triple monitor set up with all display ports ?
I got that super duper fast 4k hdmi cable. Got a new monitor. Came with display port. Shall i keep on with the expensive HDMI rather than going to stock display port ?
I have a display port monitor, and I recently got a laptop that I want to connect to. Unfortunately it doesn’t have display port and only hmdi. I tried using hdmi and I got only 120hz and very laggy gameplay. Should I get a hmdi to display port connector for it to be reactive and 144hz? Does anyone know what I should do?
get an HDMI 2.1 cable and you set
Is there a difference between maxing out hdmi 2.1 capabilities and maxing our display port? Ceteris paribus.
1.2 didplay port and hdmi 2.1 both same but if 2.0 hdmi over 1.22 dp ,dp much better overall go for dp
So I got the DP cable, and obviously my laptop doesn't, which one would be better specially for gaming? UsbC adapter or Hdmi adapter?
i use vga
I'm on a laptop and it doesn't have a display port thing but i want it is there anything that i can do
Display port def way to go for gaming unless on a TV without a port for one
Wait so let’s say u have A HDMI port in the back of ur monitor as well as a Display port in the back. And at the back or ur computer u also have a Display port cable in the back which u can plug both ends with. Do you need both HDMI and Display? Or just one. Like you can pick one ?

also the display port you can convert with a little adapter to hdmi
whats the adapter called?
@@reinster8746 display port to hdmi, is cheap

While Display port appears better/superior (which it is at a cost) theres a reason for that. DISPLAY port it's meant for one thing and ONE thing only. Display ports main purpose is to transmit the data for you guessed it a DISPLAY its why its better at image display because its sole purpose is to do just that so its made and geared for it. But thats ALL it does. HDMI is a multipurpose because it transmits display data AND audio. So HDMI is all in one and display port is just ONE thing. HDMI is as the saying goes, "Jack of all trades but a master of none."
I’m pretty sure the latest vers of DisplayPort has Audio now but don’t take my head off if I’m mistaken
Hi all please need your advice
I am new to PC gaming... To reduce input lag in online fighting games like street fighter 5 or 6.... Do you think display port is better correct.... I mean for sound I can always get external sound bar? What do you think
So i got an Asus Tuf Gaming 35” UW monitor says 100hz at 1440p on the box but my ps5 is very stretched at 1080p 60hz i just bought a 2.0 hdmi to try that way as the monitor only supports 2.0 hdmi and im running it on the ps5 2.1 hdmi cable, ive seen people run similar or same monitor on ps5 without so much strech at 120hz 1440p but whatever settings i trun on or off still the same shit even with HDR off . Help me man should i try display port or not waste money for it ?
Does it effect audio quality while gaming with a display port
more like audio support meaning the audio coming out from the monitor
The mic on my headset doesn’t work since i switched my monitor from hdmi to DP
Does anyone know what the problem might be
display port also support audio brah
No mention of hdmi 2.1 vs 2.0 or DP 1.4? HDMI 2.1 does 48gbps vs DP 1.4 32gbps. Most monitors and gpus only have 2.0 hdmi and 1.4 DP.
DisplayPort has more support for multiple monitors so why would you use HDMI
Do both have the same port shape?
Nope, totally different connectors and standards
I would need HDMI to display port. For monitor they gave me HDMI to HDMI cable which is useless for now. Also 16A adapter was in the box another useless one, I would have to go for its converter. 😢
Yeah displayport is really better for gaming because it's easier to overclock refresh rate.
I have a question can i use a display port 1.2 cable into my display port 1.4 gpu
Or my hdmi 1.4 cable into my hdmi 2.1 gpu?
(I use this monitor for 1080p)
Before i buy i just wanna be sure
yes, but it only gets the dp 1.2 specification
So if my monitors hdmi is broke. Can I use the vga port instead for my pc. Or does it require the usage for both?
VGA is very outdated port that I don’t even think supports 1440p or 75hz… but if you have a 1080p 60hz monitor, then it works fine
EDIT: Read comment below, VGA got extended support and now can use 1080p60 :) -- below statement is incorrect
