If you would have bought some of the black poly culvert pipe you would have never had to replace it again. Love your dog. Reminds me of my own. Trained him to find shed horns from deer and he's very good at it.
Your attention to detail. Is very impressive. You can tell you have thought this out at every point. One of the few TH-camr that deserves everything you’ve earned.
I'm proud of you using the money for something important. Property improvement is one thing that is not a waste of money. I know you want to enjoy the new tractor worry free. Put a battery disconnect on it so your boy doesn't kill the battery again. You have a nice place to raise your family. I appreciate you sharing your improvement with us.
I really enjoy your videos man, youre a pleasant personality, and your content is ALWAYS interesting! I hope you achieve everything you dream of, thank you for being there!
That's really not so thin asphalt! I wish my asphalt driveway was that thick! 😂 Congrats on the new tractor. Looks like a great machine! Thanks for sharing doggie time with us. 👍
Dig the ditch where the water exits the culvert 4 to 6 inches lower then the bottom of the culvert and the water will flow better and not allow the culvert to fill up with dirt or debri. Clean all that grass and dirt out of the exit ditch and the water will flow .
Cover the root ball with a thick layer of straw. To make sure the roses are protected from frost/ snow. Make sure you put in the spot lots of bone meal.
First I live in Canada, our winters go to minus 35 and colder. I am retired but had a service truck that weighed 5 Ton. I did work for a gravel pit and asphalt company. My driveway was 4 inches thick and highway mix was used for the first 3 inches. One huge difference is to put in a good gravel base, then put stone dust on top, if possible water it in and drive on it, the longer the better. The stone dust will turn the top layer almost like concrete. I need to thank you for the video on pressure tanks and water pump switches. This may be shocking, but my house pressure is up to 85 PSI, the reason is the city is replacing sewer and water mains in my area, my rented water heater failed and the service tech called and asked for the pressure in my neighbourhood , they said between 80 and 100 PSI ! I changed my RO water set up and have 65 PSI at the faucet now, it is a 10 stage system. Our water is some of the hardest in the world. Between 30 and 50 grains hardness, so yes, I have a water softener and a 27 gallon expansion tank with a spring check valve. I also have the Watts recirculation pump system, which is sold at Home Depot USA
I'm so jealous of all the big boy toys! If I lived a little closer, I would love to come out and help, but 5 or so hour drive is hard for a day trip..lol. Nice piece of property, too. Tractors and batteries, always a thing...lol Missed seeing Ms. Mandy, though.
DO THIS first. I'm a landscape contractor. People will get either new driveways or in your case, new pavers. Pet peeve and advice from a contractor that see this all the time....Put sleeves in different places such as house to your island, road way ect....somewhere in the future, as example, low voltage lighting, irrigation ect....for the cost of pvc and some sweat, you could save hundres or even thousands of dollars having different points where you can run water or electrical without coring/drilling, or hydro drilling across driveway. Here in CA, i charge over $35 to 60 a foot to bore underneath walkways or driveway....small investment in to a "oh i'll never do that" BTW I love video's and have learned a lot from you. I don't think i ever will do a well, but it never hurts to have knowledge.
@@h2omechanic BTW, either take measurements from a fixed point (corner of the garage, house a tree ect..) and mark the openings each side of the pipes. I didn't follow my own advice on my property, took me an hour to find the openings. A piece of re-bar works great if you have access to metal detectors. Also pictures help to. Oh a before and after pictures of the work....just a reminder of why you work so hard.
Looking really good Phil! Nice job. Sure have a neat looking home and property. I always enjoy your videos and have learned tons about your well drilling and set up so when we had ours drilled 2 months ago, I knew the process pretty well. (Pun intended). Take care of yourself.
You could save a lot by just putting in one or two passing places on the driveway to the road and go over the existing with tar & stone, it would look brand new. When you cut the tarmac trench always angle the cutter inwards, then when you pull with the machine it won't drag on both sides but rise up & break. Imagine selling a tractor with a duff battery!
In the UK we have to install tarmac minimum 4”thick (well that’s what it is where I live). And we don’t even have problems like frost heaving or issues like that like you have in parts of the USA or Canada & when I had seen how thin your driveway was I was thinking omg that’s thin. 😅
They make solar panels you can hook on the battery to keep it topped up even if something drains a bit. Maybe worth looking into it for the battery issue?
I have a sister who lives in Florida. THey had an interesting way of building road side ditches there. They lined the ditch with ground cloth, and placed lengths of half round black plastic culvert pipe, and they lined the sides with large crushed stone. It really gave a nice look, and you don't need to mow the ditches. That was some thin asphalt. It looks as though it was laid over the top of an earlier driveway? Nice tractor.
Looks great, however I think that dual 15" would have been better, that is a large runoff area for a single 15" pipe. We have dual 24" at our driveway and are draining about 15 acres behind it and that has gotten close to overflowing over the top of the drive on a number of rains. 👍🤠
Great video and a lovely dog. Having seen many, many of your videos I know that you are a perfectionist. That is why I cannot understand why you chose galvanised steel drainage pipe that will obviously fail (eventually) instead of plastic drainage pipe?
nice tractor i also have a Kubota tractor and really like mine hope you do not mind i would go to a r1 ag tire over them tires on it now had r4 tires on mine and was all the time getting stuck in places i should not have went to the r1 ag tires and was total game changer for me anyway hope this did not come across a butt hole i did not aim for it to watch with that key switch i bet what is going on is your key is still on and key comes out anyway mine is the same way i put a new switch in and like 3 days later my key would be on but also come out the switch
I'm commenting on a video you made two months ago, but I couldn't find it again. You completed a pump replacement in 2 1/2 hours in hot weather. The well had a lot of manganese. I had a pump problem a couple of years ago. The local company took ten days to finish the job, and he charged $6,000, which was incorrect, so he lowered it a bit. There were several people working on this. They dropped the pump into the well and had to call someone else to pull it out, which added $1,000 to the bill. They broke the underground wire, which they said was too thin and RUSTED. When was the last time you saw rusted copper? They ran a new wire from the well, around the front of the house, and in through the front door. This was February, in New York, and the door was cracked open all winter. When spring arrived, I disconnected the wire and ran it around the back of the house and into the pump room. Someday, I'm going to bury the wire in PVC. People are fortunate to have you available.
Wow, you surprised me when you said you had two teenagers. I assumed you were in your late 20's or early 30's. If that's true, you must have been the campus stud in Jr. High.
OK first good move with your money just make sure to maintain the equipment and monitor the depreciation and current condition. Second is a question... Are you going to put flow caps on the ends of that culvert before you add the riprap.
The way you were able to break up the driveway manually was almost comical with how thin it seemed to be... But I would have gone with replacing that pipe with poly or PVC rather than steel again.
Left the key on - on the tractor lol , don't know how many times i said that, solution, get a cheap backup camera, wire it to the right wire and it tells you to turn the key off!!!
I have seen it used in northern Sweden where they have like 7-8 months of winter (they guy mentioned it was not that cold that day when he was sitting in the snow, repairing his well at -22 ° Celsius...) freezing does not seem to be a problem for those pipes there. But then, all i could see was a black pipe, so wall thickness, material etc could be different.
I am working for a company in Australia doing the same work,, why do you people reduce the outlet pipe work to 1” (inch)week keep the pipe work the same size or bigger diameter because, when you reduce it , it deduce the flow also. You can only reduce the outlet up to a specific size there after you messing around with the flow

Awesome job in joy your day
I had my drive replaced about 3 years ago. Get them to make sure they have it 4 inches this. All the way! Love your videos!
Smart move with your money bud you do good work proud of you !! Nice dog and im glad you think of your elderly neighbors nice thought 👍
I've had my L5740 for over 15 years, and it's still a great machine.
Excellent job! Cheers. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Cut the roses back then dig up the root ball and wrap it in wet burlap and you can transplant the roses and they will resproat in the spring .
Cover the root ball with a thick layer of straw. To make sure the roses are protected from frost/ snow. Make sure you put in the spot lots of bone meal.

$40k is a great deal. Out here in So California concrete is the same price as Asphalt, worth looking into.
That is not accurate...
@@Failure_Is_An_Optionmust live very close to a concrete manufacture plant
Good Job!
It looks very good 👍
I have 16" PVC well casing as a culvert under my drive. But that was back when it was only $15/ft.
I wondered about that choice initially as well. If I had one pipe rotting out, I would have gone for a plastic culvert pipe, if possible.
It'll be nice when thats done, make sure to show it finished.

@gusbuster1263 i totally agree! Once they open it up before laying down base stone in going to run 1" conduit in 2 places (just in case)

How do you think it landed up on auction and was cheap. Non runner, so you take a chance on it not having a bad engine or transmission.

You do good work, great plans, I don’t like dogs chasing deer.
Hopefully you don’t have emissions issues with the new kubota
What emissions...

That's how we do our others! Just glued the panel on the roof. Works excellent
@@h2omechanic What wattage do you use? I got a cheapo and am wondering if mine is really enough.
@nathantron maybe 100w idk. It's like 14"x14".

Wondered that as well, looked like they just might have sprayed bitumen on some aggregate for that on an existing gravel driveway.

Remember those that can DO those that can't tell you how they WOULD have done it if they could do it!
Hey I’m very interested in what you do. I have a 140 foot well and thinking about replacing the pump before it gives up. Where are you located?
The terrible problem is that at 40 you have the desire to do projects, but no time. At 65, you have the time, but the desire has waned.
I would have used heavy duty plastic culvert. Never rust out.
Have you ever used the product Iron Out to clean out a well instead of bleach?
I know it would have been expensive but I probably would have grouted in the new pipe if I was in your position.
