Playing with feather shuttles feels so comfortable. The sound of hitting, the trajectory. Synthetic shuttles would never feel the same. But well, the price is the issue.
The ones in the video are 300-300 rupees, which is like 4 pounds. You have to find the right place
I think there is no replacment for authentic feather shuttlecock, even if it needs to be replaced by synthetic one, the people still want to play with the feather shuttlecock

Synthetic is not a threat. Anyone who plays badminton knows feather is King. Feather has better speed and nothing beats the "pong" sound of a feather shuttlecock.

Synthetic was used during our training. But our adult tournaments were always played with feather shuttles. They just play way better. Respect for these workers. And hopefully, it will continue to exist in the future.

Nah, They actually Profit off it because of India's Huge Population. Prices are low in India but the Huge Quantity of Buyers more than makes up for it. This is the same reason most of Steam games that are $20 in America and West are available in India for just $ 3 ~ 5.

Everything is also relatively cheaper in India so you don't need much money

totally agreed but the only problem is sustainability as for example even rackets where made out of wood now are made of graphite so in general from natural to synthetic and it has been happening to all sports across the world. Also the technology and development of producing such synthetic shuttles might make natural shuttles apostle.

Still remember back in the day, me and my friend tried to make a single shuttle last the whole evening. It got so mutilated losing like half the feathers by the end and wobbling in random directions.

Had these been made in Europe... They would have been called the exquisite shuttles and would have costed in thousands
They would have gotten a patent, a GI trademark and prevented the whole world from calling it the original shuttlecock.
I have been part of this shuttle stock production since 2011....my childhood still roam around these shuttles. While playing it feels so comfy but the process of making a shuttle is heart wrenching but all worthy for small houses to get their daily bread.

Although, the trajectory and flight of the feather shuttlecocks are unmatchable, durability is sub-par which is a major concern for aspiring players. On contrast, the synthetic shuttlecocks are really durable making it a more economical option. If manufacturers could find a way to match the durability with a competitive price then there is a hope for revival otherwise it's _death is inevitable._

Yeah there is a difference between an art dying due to cheaper options and death due to a superior product.
You can grind the feather in shuttle cocks and use it as a fertilizer for strong wood trees like Coconut Tree or for palm trees. The Synthetic shuttlecocks are grade 3 plastic which is really really really harmful to both the land and the water that we use and it's impossible to recycle it because shuttlecocks are only discarded when worn, worn plastics are no good to recycle again because it also takes much energy to do it
most enthusiast i know and myself included are playing with with feather and not plastic shuttle. The main reason were not using Dodo shuttle is their flight path, speed and durability as Yonex AS2 or even their TR series offers much better value

Many people would say the process is very DISGUSTING and INEFFICIENT, but the result is so high quality we would never imagine this!
As someone who’s played badminton competitively in school for years, I like the feather shuttlecocks better because of how it feels and sounds when you hit it-especially when hitting it hard (smashing). It’s the most satisfying thing for a badminton player and it can never be replicated by a synthetic one.

I hadn't ever played with feather shuttles until a few months ago, and since I just started taking the sport seriously, I can say there's nothing better than opening a new tube of feathered birdies. I hope that one day there will be a durable version of a feathered shuttlecock that companies like this can make easily

We can clearly see a bunch of innovations (jugads) in this small video. Whether it is indigo blue for white feathers double scissors and usage of gas stove for final sealing etc. These are all customized jugads. Great to watch this hand make shuttles making

Once you've tried a feather one, it's very hard to go back to plastic.
Yes, feather one's cost more and wear faster but even with split feathers, they still fly better then warpy plastic ones.
