    Watching this from my Z5 Compact, couldn't be happier with my phone choice, we need more sub 5" phones like this.

    • @CaedoRS
      @CaedoRS 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pretty good, when I got it out of the box it had 52%, this was in the morning, by the time I got home later that night after moderate usage I had about 15% left.

      HTC fucking sucks, they absolutely deserve to be in this position. They made a wonderful phone called the One M7, and then let it somewhat slip with the M8, and the M9 was a fucking disaster. Honestly the worst flagship out there.

    • @danielm5633
      @danielm5633 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sony doesn't sell in the us because apple is a juggernaut in the us more than anyone else in the world

      King Tutankhamun I actually still have the HTC One M7 (not my daily driver anymore) and haven't personally tried the M8 or M9. From purely a design stand point, I like the M7 most out of all of them.

      TabZa123 - You're welcome! I have the Z5 and the Z5 Compact (belongs to my brother, but he barely uses it) and they're perfect! They look nice, they feel nice and they're fast! So, yeah, get an Xperia Z5 Compact. It's also a bit cheaper, because the new phones came out.

      I have the X3 Compact after having the Xperia S for a while. Love the size and its capabilities. My Z3 Compact screen was shattered recently (not by me) and I've been looking to upgrade. I'm gonna stick with Sony and get the Z5 Comact.

    I switched to Sony with the Z3, I believe they are under rated, they are amongst the best android devices out there. Incredible camera with excellent low light ability, tons of muscle for every day tasks and probably the best battery life that exists in all phones out today. Sony needs to market these well built devices with more vigor.

    as a longtime user of the Z3 Compact, I was to mention that, on my generally pretty heavy use, it gets a day easily. I used a One X before, and that'd get almost a day on usage my Z3 now gets almost 2 full days.
    also, people forget that a 720p display onna phone, especially of this size, really does still look very good.

  • @Dragontrumpetare

    Ok, I dont get it?? Is there a sort of conspiracy against Sony-phones? All (non photographers might add) says the camera isnt good on either compact or Z5. Ok, they say its not bad, but not the best. I mean do they really test the camera for real. I mean Dxomark actually said it was the best camera and they are pros. I mean either people dont know how to use the Sony cameras or there is something wrong here. ALmost all reviews dont like the camera on the SOny phone... but how can that be?? To be honest rather listening to the real pros on this.... and DXOMARk says this Sony cameras is number one...

    • @Adrift.
      @Adrift. 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Jerry Berglund Reading various forum, it appears that its coming down to reviewers ignoring or undervaluating the default camera mode, which is 8mp supersampled. They see that number "23", go into the phone settings, ramp up the mps, and think it should be a super camera phone, but apparently that's not how it works. The super camera mode for most situations, espeically low-light is actually the supersampled 8mp mode. 23 apparently should only be used for wide shots in full daylight, and even then its apparently finicky. This was all discussed in the comments of the very smartphone shootout mentioned in this video, but either this reviewer didn't see it, or ignored it.

    I know I'm going to sound COMPLETLY stupid and ridiculous but I'll say what I feel and what a lot of other people think but I'll be honest :
    I love this phone ! And I would love to have one ! But the fact that nobody in my family friends, in the street at college will see it as a great phone and just think of it as a random smartphone when it's actually one of the best make me not buying it ... It's sad but it's mostly why people buy iPhone ... Sony Samsung Lg HTC REALY need to improve their marketing !

      It's not that I care SOO much about what people think but you know when you got a new jacket a new haircut you always like people at least noticing the change like " hey I like your new hair cut" . I'll be here super exited about my new phone then everybody be like " hum yeah... a radome phone". Hard to be proud of something nobody cares about ^^'
      I know I sound superficial here but yeah I guess that's how it is /:

    really like this new person on AA. Reviews are now more substantial and informative. Anyone noticed Sony's aggressive kernel configuration? it's seen on a CPUz part of this video. Practically Sony's own configuration/vision of S810 is a penta-core, you get one A57 core alive while rest of the A57s are in a deep sleep, A53s+1A57 is what you get on Sony's implementation. I own Z4 (v2.1) and it's exact the same.But it's not just Sony doing it aggressively G Flex 2 is a hexa-core :P

    i never had a problem with the camera. Sure a lot of cameras struggle in low light but with less light you have less chances to get a good photo. If anything when I take a photo for anyone it amazes them how good the camera is. Most people I know have Samsung phones with 12 MP cameras or even budget phones that have 5 or 8 MP cameras. If anything they are blown away by the detail it can capture. More megapixels is good too because you have a better chance to zoom in for a closer look at something without the picture becoming blurry. One thing to keep in mind with these is when viewing a photo taken with it or a similar camera wait a couple seconds for it to decompress. If you look closely you will notice the picture becoming sharper, especially with anything that has a lot of detail. Many photos I take are 8 or 10 megabytes or more unedited or unaltered and if you have a Sony phone you may have noticed that too.

    great review and thanks for making it , I think that for the regular joe like me , I am going to enjoy the camera . I am really tired of 5.5 inches phones already , I am using the oneplus one and it is a good device but sometimes you don`t have both hands to use while on the run . I am gonna wait for this in Florida ,finally a smaller phone with good specs

    Got a black one for 6€ from an auction. The back glass was missing and the frame has minor scuffs, but the front glass is in an absolutely excellent condition. Luckily I had a back glass laying around.

    I bought this phone this week and It will arrive next week. I wanted a smaller phone with good battery life. The camera is a bonus. A smaller screen should give me a very long standby battery life. The right-angle corners are a concern as they will probably put a square wear mark on my front jeans' pockets. Matt grey is nice as it matches my ThinkPad. I remember a similar phone was used in one of the James Bond movies a few years ago. It is more convenient and professional-looking to use a smaller phone. It only has Android 7.1. I was also considering a Google Pixel 1 to get Android 10 but Z5 seems like better overall phone.

    I live in the US, I imported this phone from Japan and it's great, it gets a little hot sometimes, but nothing insane. The camera is good but not great just like the video says. However, there is an update coming in November that will hopefully make pictures better.

    The majority of the people listen music on their phones, using sometimes very expensive headphones. How come no one reviews the quality of the inbuilt amplifiers, DACs, music players, file format support (like Hi-Res) etc....? Most people care more about the sound that goes to their headphones rather than the sound that comes out of the speakers. Still good review though :)

    Great review overall, but it would really help if your background isn't cluttered. While the clutter may have been for the "tinkerer" impression, your mess of wires and dumpster under your desk don't reflect well on you. That said, your reviews are stellar!

    Android 5.x on the Z5C was laggy and quite mediocre for a recent phone with some apps installed, but the new 6.0 Marshmallow update gives ultra high performance. It is very fast now. You will be amazed

    Sony really just have to market their products more. Their phones are great and easily beats other brands like Samsung and Apple. I've been using a Z2 for more than a year now and it's still in great shape, no lags, no damages even if I've dropped it a couple of times and water proofing is awesome. Used my phone to record underwater pics all the time, in fact.

    Finally a good small smartphone. For the past year all we had was good phablets and none in the way of good phones. The 720p resolution seems low, but considering the size, it is perfect ;)

    I think the reason of the sony's mobile sale struggles is most people nowadays dont care about the phone specs and just want cool features that sometimes they dont even use and apple made a good work on advertising their phone although the price is so expensive and people still buy it cuz they think it's cool.I have friends that buy iphone 6 and only used it for FB,whatsapp,instagram and whatnot,which is an overkill just for that stuff. So I think sony need to work on their advertisement.
    I just bought Z3 compact about a month ago which is a huge upgrade from my old iphone 4s and i'm loving it!

    Having owned a HTC One Mini M4 for 2 years and being at first impressed until that damn HTC Sense 6.0 replaced 5.5, it no longer connects to a PC with USB and the bottom speaker has failed completely, I am now in the market for a new phone. I was looking at the Samsung S6, but it is too popular (plus the bloatware thrown in with it) and the HTC M9, but I wan't something with a good camera and pocketable. I am kind of wanting something a bit unique (similar experiance to my HTC, not just like stock Android), it appears that I must give this Sony Z5 Compact a shot! It looks good, has good specs, a nice UI (similar, if not better than HTC Sense 5.5), a good camera (4K!!!) and is realitely quite and not too popular.
    I THINK THIS IS MY NEXT PHONE!

    Too bad Samsung stopped making the Galaxy Alpha. That was a great competitor to the Z Compact series.
    Sony deserves the credits that they still make a phone with these specs and size.

    Thanks for the great review Gary - I just bought a Z5 Compact new for GBP269.99 (225 ex VAT for my business) which I'm happy with given the spec & guarantee. Prior to upgrade I was using a Galaxy Note 2 so the normal Z5 would have been the logical upgrade, therefore this is a compromise on size but at that price I'm not complaining and waterproof is good for use on my bicycle/motorcycle. So what was the conclusion i.e. in your opinion did the Z5 series save Sony's mobile division?

    On a sub 5" display a 720p is a big +. There is not much difference compared to 1080p on 4.6" in quality, but sure is a big difference in battery life.

    Manufacturers need more pressure on them to make smaller phones with FLAGSHIP specs. Been saying this for years. Funny thing is that all the smaller phones are considered "budget" and are on prepaid carriers. I actually found an LG G4 mini (LG G4c) for sale here in the US. Its secretly on Boost mobile as the LG Volt 2. Not the highest specs but I love it.

    I also expecting too much on the camera part, I was very looking forward for the camera to capture details even on low lights, the S6 and LGG4 did it better. If this can be fixed by software updates I would gladly get one because besides this and the price, I like everything about it.

    It's detailed alright, I think you covered almost everything that we need to know but man 16 minutes for a review, is a bit long from the usual reviews I watch on this channel. Not bad :)
    Though I would like to know how long can other flagships record 4k compared to the Z5 line up?
    Do they all have heating issues with 4k video? If so which one takes the lead here?
    It's also interesting to know there temperature after recording for comparison.

    My Zenfone 5 gets really hot at 47 degrees just playing some games!!
    Hell even using the camera for 5 mins it reaches 40 degrees!
    *btw the stand by time is really terrible it eats 3 percent while just laying around but still I still love the good parts of it*

I will still be taking pictures to compare it to it. the LG g4 in my opinion is probably the best all around smartphone camera to date. keep up the good work.

    I had three Xperia Z3 in the spawn of 6 months. On my first one back glass broke due to overheating while it was charging. On the second one the whole top half of the screen stopped working after it had overheated. On my third one the screen cracked after it overheated. Now i'm back with a Samsung, I had the S3 before I went to Sony and now I have the S5. (I hate the S5. The bloatware of Samsung is SO Annoying but at least the screen don't break out of nowhere.)
