The Cure are amazing. They have stood the test of time, they have more range than most bands, each album is completely different from the last while never losing the magic. They play three hour gigs (at least) They've inspired so many bands and singers. They still attract huge numbers of young listeners, and Robert is sexy.. So there's never any need to nit pick at them for anything. They are the best band ever. Cant wait to see them again next year.
They are playing it?no?This has to be the best version ive ever heard, and this is one of the best songs Ive ever heard,I dont think anything will ever compare to the CURE,I just dont see how it ever can. This is beautiful,Robert Smith is a very very special person.
the keyboardless version of this song has been growing on me for quite some time now, i love it! thanks for posting this song with all the other material!
hahaha i wake up to this face everymorning! my wife's makeup runs, her hair gets in knots! i always tell her "Robert Smith! an autograph!?" haha LOL cheers! i concur - the Cure f'ing rules!
The keyboard miss very much in this live, expecially played by Roger (the best) fortunately there was Porl to make this beautiful song unforgettable! thanks Porl miss u :( and tanks you all. I love the Cure
I am so glad this song is captured live with Porl's grindy guitar!!!! I absolutely LOVE this version as opposed to the original now! It sounds awesome on vid - but multiply it by 1000 and that's how good it is LIVE!!!! With it SO LOUD!!! The music completely envelopes you and carries you to another level!!! (No I do not do drugs!!) :)
Plainsong is just one of those songs that just little by little grows on you. One of my favorites from Disintegration. It makes the world seem so clear :]
amazing song. I remember at wembley this year this was the opening song and when it started my heart stopped for a perfect second. It was the most amazing opening song and that moment was the best of my life. I seriously wanna walk down the isle to this song.
great song, great video. Here we go with gripes about Jason. Boris left the group in 1993. Jason has been with The Cure since 1995. He is not new, he is not weak, gawd.
Robert knows how it sounds when a melody is played over another melody,Hes a master at it,thats why, under Roberts genius, the Cure sounds consistent, even though some band members come and go.
@jamintaylor I totally agree. Jason Cooper has proven himself far more than enough and he totally deserves our respect, the same way Robert respects him.
@asuato I felt the exact opposite, when I saw them on this tour (Toronto) I was blown away, specifically at how they could do Plainsong without keyboards. This is a talented bunch of performers. And no one will argue about the songwriting.
the bald person is porl thompson, a longtime member of the band, and one of the greatest guitarists in the UK, at least. he left the cure in the early 90's to play with robert plant and jimmy page of led zeppelin, but returned. its nice to know someone else think he handles his baldness pretty well XD
I couldl listen to this over and over as I sit here and write my mid-term paper. It's beautifuly haunting and pleasing Great musicians, question does anyone know who the guitarist is?
It sounds like that, but if you know about effects and guitar...you notice that he is not even picking the strings, and the keyboard part is played somewhere else in the backstage by an unknown guy, thats what I suppose
He is the former guitarist, and their actual too :p, but he left "easy cure" because he didn't like the way the music was taking form (kind of minimalist music, and he didn't like that).
I don't understand what robert is playing...it doesn't sound or anything, and he looks like he is just playing with the guitar like a kid haha :) Love them
that is incorrect. he is picking the strings but letting them ring. the same as it was on the festival 2005 DVD. I HATE this song now without keyboards. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, just not this way. And if the keys are there, they are part of the pre-recorded backing tracks they have been using for years.
Sorry but if you don't know the truth then please dont try to discredit me! This is from an interview of SEPTEMBER 1994! What sort of direction is the new material going in? it's a very strange mixture. Probably my favourite 2 or 3 songs are quite 'accousticy': brushes, accoustic guitar, strings... WMS is mostly brushes, accoustic guits & strings. SO? what do you say now? Jupiter Crash style is BORIS'. That repetitive long patterns are Boris' style. Jason is "constantly changing" as u said.
Yes, they are backing tracks, and i do not like the 2005 festival version of this song...it is not perfect, as the original version. And nooo... he is not picking the strings..look at both hands, you can really he hes not picking anything :P haha. and don't get me wrong neither!! I LOVE THEM!
FYI, Jupiter Crash was demoed by Boris. He recorded it and Jason just copied it. Has Jason created a memorable intro like In Between days, WCIBY, etc? or long great patterns like Last Dance? What Jason does -and you agree- is change the pattern and play whatever comes to his mind at the time. No order, no creativity, no good sound. Sadly that's Jason's characteristics. He sounded better in 1995. After that he declined more and more and more.
he IS picking the strings. Not overly strumming them, but very lightly. The festival version of this song,he is hitting them harder, which makes it sound more like shite.. I just think that it is a little tighter by now, after them having to listen to that godawful version of it.
This is my all time favorite performance of Plainsong.
The Cure are amazing. They have stood the test of time, they have more range than most bands, each album is completely different from the last while never losing the magic. Miss you Vicky - so sad I didn't get to meet you IRL, but we did get to chat online before you left this world - may you have Cure bliss forever
They are playing it?no?This has to be the best version ive ever heard, and this is one of the best songs Ive ever heard,I dont think anything will ever compare to the CURE,I just dont see how it ever can. This is beautiful,Robert Smith is a very very special person.
The Cure are just something beyond this planet... Out Of This World
the keyboardless version of this song has been growing on me for quite some time now, i love it!
thanks for posting this song with all the other material!
watching for the thousandth time... only after visiting ciutat de les arts i les ciències again after 22 years
My favorite song by The Cure!
hahaha i wake up to this face everymorning! my wife's makeup runs, her hair gets in knots! i always tell her "Robert Smith! an autograph!?" haha LOL cheers! i concur - the Cure f'ing rules!
Dios mio despues de mas de dos decadas suenan exactamente igual, la misma voz definitivamente el mejor grupo de la historia
The keyboard miss very much in this live, expecially played by Roger (the best) fortunately there was Porl to make this beautiful song unforgettable! thanks Porl miss u :( and tanks you all. I love the Cure
I love the keyboard too but its nice to see a fresh take on the song.
La mejor presentación de esta hermosa canción

THE best interpretation
Robert knows how it sounds when a melody is played over another melody,Hes a master at it,thats why, under Roberts genius, the Cure sounds consistent, even though some band members come and go.
This is brilliant I wish I had it on vinyl
Porl Thomson. He played with them on wish as well.
I LOVE THE CURE NIESAMOWICIE PIEKNY UTWÓR I VOCAL ROBERTA THE VERY BEST ❤❤❤🫶🫶🫶🫶👍👍👍👍👍
the perfect version
Essa Música é linda demais e essa versão na guitarra esse solo ficou linda
this song reminds me of who i was. and of pure, innocent pain.
what an epic song
@jamintaylor I totally agree. Jason Cooper has proven himself far more than enough and he totally deserves our respect, the same way Robert respects him.
Fantastica a dir poco mamma mia!!
@claudioeyemou your right man, the keyboards bring a whole new level of atmosphere to their sound!
I've finally figured out where and when this is from - Valencia, 5 March 2008
@asuato I felt the exact opposite, when I saw them on this tour (Toronto) I was blown away, specifically at how they could do Plainsong without keyboards. This is a talented bunch of performers. And no one will argue about the songwriting.
now this song sounds perfect again... the keyboards make it perfect...
magic
I miss Pearl 🥺

holy shit, this is amazing
Woo Hoo! Great!
I couldl listen to this over and over as I sit here and write my mid-term paper. It's beautifuly haunting and pleasing
Great musicians, question does anyone know who the guitarist is?
@RobertSmithDaveGahan
In my dream! Can't wait for the DVD tho...... :)
The guitar intro sounds better. Especially with Porl playing. RIP Andy Anderson.
@amf7755 all of them!
It sounds like that, but if you know about effects and guitar...you notice that he is not even picking the strings, and the keyboard part is played somewhere else in the backstage by an unknown guy, thats what I suppose
@ApocalypseForFree Agree on the keyboard thing... what are we gonna do... :(
Awesome,This songs like a drug, that you consume by listening to it,Im gonna be very fucked up.
And then you smiled for a second.
...still i like the old version better :( we need more keyboards in this song.
the initial guitar riff with the guitar robert smith
@clintnio his timing is thanks to the metronome in his ears. jason tries hard but is not good enough for the cure :(
He is the former guitarist, and their actual too :p, but he left "easy cure" because he didn't like the way the music was taking form (kind of minimalist music, and he didn't like that).
1:14 ,, porl
gonzalo Demartini he has such great feel and creativity in his playing. I miss him in the band.
@@RossBayCult I miss Pearl Thompson 😢
I don't understand what robert is playing...it doesn't sound or anything, and he looks like he is just playing with the guitar like a kid haha :)
Love them
alternative guitar version ! you dont know. no keyboard player
@amf7755 but still plenty of boris vidoes to go around :P
What show is this from? I'm trying to locate the audio from this show.
Cameron Ayers this was live in Valencia, Spain October 2008. I believe.
quality

yo creo que "cut" no la puede tocar
¿en que recital del 95' hasta ahora la tocaron!?
Where was this filmed? It's an odd looking venue.
Sorry but if you don't know the truth then please dont try to discredit me!

Class this song...
drums never really sound good on tv... bet this was a million times better if you were there
So,Who were you?
lo...do you think he came back for hair regrowth!?
Yes, they are backing tracks, and i do not like the 2005 festival version of this song...it is not perfect, as the original version.

@gergeux
i miss the synths...
Plainsong without Roger is impossible

Did he dry his hair with a lawnmower?
(TheCure rulez btw)
More respect to the bald person, dude. He is a great guitar player and maybe he's not bald because the wants to, you know?
But he didn't left the band because of that...i understand he left it for forming a family, and then joined the zeppelinists...
Drums here are woeful :(
omg. trolll
lol there are keyboardsfool
los quiero en puerto rico y que feo se escucha esa bateria..
la bateria de jason suena horrible!!!!!!
BORIS DONDE ESTAS??? REGRESA A THE CURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Total crap without keyboards. Some songs just dont need to be on the setlist without keys.
