I saw the Wish Tour in Philadelphia in 1993. I went by myself with a broken collar bone. I was a fan of the Cure then but after seeing this concert with songs like this I was amazed. I had never seen anything that good before. That was it...I put everything down and have been a complete fanatic since that day. 25 years later and I still love them, even more now. I'm so glad they were with me for all that time.

As tears force out of my eyes, this song reminds me why I feel a sense of pride when my 16 year old daughter says that to see the Cure live would make her life feel complete... I still remember being 12 years old listening to Boys Don't Cry and feeling that there was something cool here.. Once Standing on the Beach came out I was completely hooked... The way that each album after that had a completely new feeling has always amazed me, with every album having emotive and dark feeling songs that give those depressed moments in life (especially the teen years) a place to feel home instead of alone. Having only seen them live once for the Wish concert in '95, I could see them a hundred more times; I loved that there's not a lot of crap in between songs, they just start the next song and take us further into their world. To see them with my kids would be amazing to say the least; I hope we get the opportunity, not at some festival, but a real concert where the sound fills you from all around, the only way to hear the Cure... anyway just a moment of thoughts...
I remember Strange Days,Pictures Of You and Just like a Dream. "You, soft and only, you, lost and lonely, strange as angels"...beautiful lyrics. And yes, having been lucky to have lived my teenage years through The Cure, the memories come flooding back and I smile at the overly sensitive, heartfelt, melancholy teenager!. Now, reaching 40 and hearing it all again with my daughter. It always sends out the comforting message that it's ok to be weird : ) Strangely comforting x
+Dan Arevalo .....I am 31. I've been a fan of The Cure since I could remember. It would give me great pleasure to know my son loved them as much as ; however he's just not hooked on them. I. I have to, and will, see them again before my time is up. They are an amazing band, far beyond their years. My parents don't remember them but me? heck yes.....I remember them. And still love them to this day.
+Kelly White some great words said here they are without a doubt one of the greatest bands to have ever record or hit the stage Robert writes like no one can touch him I've only seen them twice both London & Sydney both were amazing
+Dan Arevalo ` awesome post! The Cure recently announced they are coming tour North America in 2016! They already have dates set for LA, New York and Chicago ! I purchased tickets for both nights they're planning in Chicago ! You've explained The Cure's music perfectly! I started listening to them in 1987 when dealing with my Dad dying from cancer. Do you live in USA?
"Still the hardest part for you, is to put your trust in me.I love you more than I can say, why won't you just believe?" I have always found those words to be so touching... You feel for the person wanting the trust, but also for the person who lost their ability to trust.
I agree with you about the song. :) Very cool you saw them back in 1987. I seen them once in back in 1996, & am going to be seeing them next month in Boston 2016. Almost 20 years later. :)
Thanks Elana. Saw them in 1989 at Dodger Stadium with the Pixies and Love & Rockets. for the Wish tour at the Rose Bowl and here in Japan for Fuji Rock (www.fujirockfestival.com) twice. Good times.

Robert Smith said it, during an interview, YEARS ago. I can not remember the other two, except it MAY have been "Pictures of You", but I know for a fact that "Trust" was in his "Top 3".
I think what makes this song so great is actually how simple it is lyrically. Some songs dont need to be overblown. It is something that we can all relate to when he sings mournfully "There is really no-one left at all... There is only you". Wish is a fantastic album and if you don't own it, you should.

"Trust" is one of my favourite songs by The Cure. Although lyrically rather negative, the song radiates a wonderful and beautiful melancholy that you don't often find.
In a world that can be so literally fucked-up, people being so cruel and hateful towards one another, songs like this remind us that not all is lost! The late 80's and early 90's were such a different time. A lifetime ago now. Robert's music is so timeless, pure and innocent. As long as we have it we can close our eyes and be 25 again!
