Fun to see your visit to Saugatuck. My Mom took me there about 40 years ago. It was the place she and her girlfriends went for weekends when they were single. I guess there was a nice dance hall there in early '50's ... she said they would spend the day at the beach and the evening dancing. Looks like you had a great trip! Thank you for sharing.

Hello and WELCOME! ❤Very happy you can enjoy my videos even if my recipes don't exactly fit your dietary needs. I can think of one recipe that might (but it's not vintage) - I made a video for egg free peanut butter cookies that are also gluten free: th-cam.com/video/otQQxEpbfDM/w-d-xo.html

So much fun! I live right between Grand Rapids and Holland in Allendale, home to GVSU. We go to Saugatuck several times a year. I was surprised that no one came up to say "Hi", as I most certainly would have! I'm somewhat of a newbie to your channel but, I love it and you. You're fabulous!

I'm new to your channel. I'm loving this stuff. Child of the 70s here.
Reminiscing is wonderful. It made me dig out a 1965 Betty Crocker booklet my mom had: "Honey, that's delicious!" Husband-pleasing Meals. 😮😅
There's a spread on how to have dinner on the table at 6:30 sharp when you don't get home from work until 6. And still have time to fluff your hair and put on fresh lipstick. How far we've come ladies and yet miles to go.

This was so fun to watch because we antique shop the same way and for the same sorts of things.
I have been collecting Pyrex for a while now so I am at the point where I rarely find a piece I love/want/need/can afford. But my eyes still got big when I saw that display. And BFG v2 is such an underrated pattern/color-nice find!
I also have quite a few recipe tins, so even those are becoming hard to find. And I am very much like you, I almost never seek things out online, preferring to find things in the wild. So much more fun when you find a piece you have been waaaaaaaiting for. Like that Betty Crocker recipe box WITH the index!!! 😍

I just want you to know how much I LOVE your channel. I started collecting Pyrex & Anchor Hocking at 16 which I'm so thankful for because I have so many amazing and rare pieces like a Jade-Ite platter I found at a Goodwill for 0.50 thats now worth over $500! I found a whole set of Jade-Ite shell pattern still with the labels for $300 & its scary how much its worth now.
My cookbook collection started at age 4. Yes, age 4! I learned how to read Spanish, Italian, and some French because I was so serious about learning the recipes😂 You have so many books that I also had but eventually had to part with because as renters you get real tired of shlepping them every time you have to move. I was half way to being a hoarder😂

Great stores. I'll have to look around for similar stores where I live in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately the stores have to be within biking distance since I never learned to drive.

Oh my gosh! A week or so ago after watching several of your videos you had mentioned what state you lived in and I thought I wonder if she ever travels north? I thought about letting you know about West Michigan. That is where I lived and all I could think about were all the cookbooks and retro things I use to scour thru from South Haven to Grand Haven. I'm so glad you found a Pyrix bowl you love. I always loved that area.
    Happy searching!

Love this, I’m from Michigan but haven’t spent much time on the west side. Hoping to fix that this next summer and fall.

It would be cool if you did a piece on vintage vegetarian recipes. Veganism and vegetarianism has become much more popular in recent years and theres so much more options now for people. I know veganism def did not exist in the early twentieth century but vegetarianism was and it would be cool to see what options vegetarians had then, and how it was viewed in the early twenteith and mid twentieth century and if the recipes even tasted good. Get a glimpse of how times have changed when it comes to plant based diets and peoples attitude towards it. Just a suggestion 😊

Another fun video! Thanks to you and your husband for going to the work to film (and for you to edit) so we could "come along". Man! You showed much more restraint w those $1 cookbooks than I could/would have! I always think, "Compared to the cost of a magazine, I can read this once and pass it on and it will still be a great value!" Of course, those I pass on are ones I've purchased specically to use at a cookbook swap. 99.9% I keep!😉

This was particularly exciting from me as I'm from Michigan and moving back in the spring, so anything about home tends to capture my interest. I've actually never been to Western MI so this was great! We're not sure where we're moving yet but I as long as the house is right and it's at least an hour from any family member I can pretty much live anywhere. But I'd like it to be reasonably safe and full of trees. My mother wants to be near water and Saugatuck looks adorable! Thanks for the ride along.
