It was a privilege to get to meet Daryle and shake his hand at one of his shows in Georgia (Rascals) in ‘17. We had the best time. I danced all night. Fortunately for my wife, we had a big group there to give her a rest. Daryle played more classic covers than his own songs. He loved turkey hunting. His bus and trailer were all camoed out in Realtree camo. If you have a chance to go see these legends, you should. You just never know. Daryle truly was one of the all time greats and more than deserves to be in the CMHOF.
One of the greatest true country music voices to ever walk out on a stage and step up to mic. Miss this guy everyday. Seems I listen to him everyday. That voice!
I'm going to end up breaking the replay button. Such a beautiful voice and God's gift to country music. He absolutely nailed this song and his voice was amazing. R.I.P Daryle Singletary
Jbarker1983 I know that feeling man I knew Daryle.I am a huge Haggard fan and when he died I was sad but this one hit me super hard his music will live forever
Daryle is only 6 years older than me and it really hits me at moments like this, none of us are promised tomorrow. May he rest in peace in the Amen kind of love. God bless and comfort his wife and children in the most difficult time.
Truly one of the very best voices to ever grace Country music. He never got the credit he deserved. Killed me the day he died...still does because of that. Maybe one day they'll induct him into the Country Music Hall of Fame, which he SO deserves. He died on my birthday...stayed on my mind all day.
Man I miss him. Country Music lost on of the best voices and gentlest men around when Daryle passed away. I’m just glad his music will be around for as long as people want to listen to it.
Rest soft Daryle. You were one of the best that never got the credit you deserved. I am very sad after the shocking news. All my love and condolences to his family. God Bless
Only heard this guy sing this morning and my wife said did you know he is dead I did not know anything about this guy but boy he has a great voice and love this version of this some .
My Son was playing Pro Hockey in Lafayette, La & him & his Teamates went to the Local Country Bar there & heard Daryle sing for the 1st time. He called me & asked if I'd ever heard of him, which I had. And said he was really good. I told him, that I Loved all those old time REAL Country singers like Daryle. Just can't hear too much of that style anymore, now that the record companies have bought up the radio stations & sold us their version of Pop/Country today sound. This is just a great remake of the Vern Gosdin did on this song. But I think Daryle might've sounded better on it. Just a great song:) So sad to hear of Daryle's passing at such a young prime age:(.
I did not know Darlye personally since he was a generation after me growing up south of Whigham GA, population 400. I was class mates from 1st to 12th grades with his Uncle Steve and his dad Roger was a year ahead of me in school. We had 35 in our class, and kin to about all the class mates. Daryle and I are cousins, with our ancestors being pioneers in settling southwest Georgia in the early 1800's. Daryle grew up in our Providence Baptist Church and began singing hymns in church at an early age. All his family were excellent singers. He grew up country and took those attributes to Nashville, as many country singers from the rural country did. We heard most of our songs on WGRA AM radio growing up, all being classic country. I was in Nashville just after Daryle passed away, listening to an upcoming singer in one of the back alley venues off 16th Avenue Music Row. I talked to several of the singers and band members, who said Daryl was a big influence on young Nashville singers, helping them get a start. That was the true legacy of Daryle Singletary, giving more to country music than taking, the true country family character. He will never be forgotten. A street is named for him in Whigham and many country music singers got their start with his help, just as he got his start from Randy Travis. His legacy lives on.
