I remember reading a article and I forget when but I think it was guitar magazine, someone asked Eddie VanHalen who he thought was was the best guitar player and his response was ROY CLARK, I remember it because it absolutely floored me that a rocker would say that.
Honky tonks was a Big part of my Life. I was a kid growing up in a musicians Family, back in the late 60-70s an most of the 80"s. I was living in Hotels an Motels all over Canada. An I know many would say its not a good life for a kid, but I loved it. It is true I didn't get much schooling and don't remember the names of kids i ran into along the way. But truly I would not have changed anything as a kid on the road, waking up in truck stops and road side stops along the highways.( I can almost smell them B.L.T's at the road side dinners, you know the ones that come in that waxy paper bag) lol. I started playing Guitar at the age of 8, and Im sure my Dad got sick of hearing me play the (G) run. But one thing for sure, I never got sick of all the times I heard that Country Music coming up from the vents in the Hotel rooms. an all the Girls that I danced with at the Country dances. also have to tell you about all the musicians I got to meet and even play music with (The Rhythm Pals) an even got to play with one of the steel player's that played for Ray Price. I meet people like Larry Mercey of The Mercey Brothers, and so many more great Musician's. Playing and singing was the greatest times of my Life as a Kid in a Musician's Family, and will be for the rest of my Life. For you who Love County Music, Take a look at my you-tube channel. Love ya all, and God Bless.
Listening to this song takes me back to Hank Williams, of course. My daddy used to rent a room at Hank’s mother’s Boarding House in Alabama and he became pretty good pals with Hank. As a matter of fact, daddy said that he and Hank would sit outside and play music together. Needless to say, I grew up with Hank. 😂
I didn’t remember that Eddie Raven played with the band Boogie Kings. I grew up around Eunice, La. and danced many a night to the great music of the Boogie Kings. I loved it when at times the band would come off the stage and make a circle around some of the good dancers! Anyone one out there remember those days?
We opened for Eddie Raven in Coupland Dance Hall in 2000. One of the nicest musicians I’ve ever met. We were promoting myself and my best friend (lead guitar player),& we were going to Nville to pitch us and he said to be sure and come by his office. He was very supportive. Easy bldg to find on Music Row….it’s solid Black i.e. Eddie “Raven”
It’s good to see Dale there. He’s so underrated.I’ve been on a Watson run the last few days. He’s the Merle Haggard of Texas in my book. His originals are Really well-written tunes. He’s one cat that has paid his dues.
I kept passing by this show in the feed, didn't know. From watching Larry's Country Diner so much took a chance. Roy Clark what a sweetie.😊 It's great hearing the behind stories. We have watched these people so long on 📺 like family.
Darrell McCall used to play at the Lakeview Club outside of College Station Texas and I got to know him there. He is one of the nicest guys in country music. I recently ran across a photo of him and me that someone had taken of us together at the club in the summer of 1976. And he’s been down to where I live now in Rockport Texas to play at Oysterfest.
I know Roy Clark has passed on, but when he mentioned Schroeder Hall which is a few miles outside of Victoria Texas, he brought me back to my youth. I grew up dancing at all the great dancehalls around South Texas, Schroeder was one of my favorites. It was a very sad day this past year when the lady who owns Schroeder Hall announced that she was going to retire and close it down to weekly dances and shows. About 8 months before Charley Pride passed away, I took my wife to Schroeder to see him. The hall was packed to the rafters with fans wanting to see one of the greats! It’s sad to see just about every dancehall around has closed their doors because they don’t have the country artists coming to promote their music and newest releases like they used to when radio stations were spinning their music and the artists were going out to honor their contracts.
Just a little bit south of you here in Corpus Christi and I agree there are no dance halls left anymore. The few we had left around here closed up. To quote Dillon. "Times they are a changing"
Wow there were some great stories told. Was great to a lot of them.Roy clark spoke about honkytonks with chicken wire around the stage, noteably Schroeder Hall in Goliad, Texas. Was raisedthere and spent many nights there enjoying country music. Ahhhh the old times were great.
That’s the music I grew up with.60 years ago I started learning the guitar. And honky tonkin was a big part of it.excellent show such great array of talent
Nice, great and "true inital voice when young" with this singers. Thanks for this release. Friendly wishes from France. Jo (pupil of Jimmy Capps guitar playing).
I have been watching Country reunion since Episode 1234 n now Honky tonk music..Love watching talk show with great country singers of all time... Can't wait to see more like this..I am looking forward that my daughter would do the same for me when I gets old... Really love with utmost respect to u all.. God Bless You all...with lots of love from Garo Hills Meghalaya state, India..
great music but the sad thing about these Country's Family Reunion is to see the Legends that are no longer with us. I hope some of the new artists will realize how important it is to keep this kind of country music alive.
I think Scotty McCreery would be great for these shows. His music has matured as a perfect reflection of his own maturity in becoming a husband and father. He "gets it" -- what makes country music so special.
True, old episodes but I think they are new as far as being shown as a honky Tonk series ? Either way I’m always happy when any new series comes out so I can listen to true honky Tonk music and singers ❤
Adults could bring teenage children into some Honky Tonks back in the 50s and 60s. The older women in their 30s and 40s would grab me and taught me how to dance country. I'm in my 70s and still love older women and can't stop moving my feet to old country.
Lord this was difficult to watch. I grew up with the majority of these folks teaching me how to sing and act like somebody. Lord how I miss this type of Country music stars . I'm proud to have known those that have gone on.
I’ve grown up since a teen in Avondale Estates where Bill is from, and my dad is the associate Pastor of his old Baptist church in Avondale. One of the guys who played baseball with Bill at high school (and eventually took his place on the team when bill graduated) still goes to church there. He and his wife are the sweetest and say they’ve occasionally heard from him. I’ve never heard a single bad thing about Bill around town at all. ❤
Great music Country Family Reunion shows are so precious ❤ warming 🌹🌹to 🌵🌵 thier is a story for every body 👍👍 Laugh cry a good song tells it all. Love you all in Canadian Rocky Mountains 👍👍👍
I'm so glad of these episodes, more to come and I can't wait. So many of the entertainers and players have crossed over and it sure is good to be able to see and hear them again. Can't wait until the entire room entertains us with stories and songs.
D.McCall share a friend in Lou Rochelle. They wrote “Still a lot of Love in San Antone”. I ran into Daryl the first night I moved to Nville in the alley behind Tootsies. He was walking with Charley Walker and his wife. Lou’s daughter had just passed and Daryl hadn’t heard about it.
@@Docsjeff Right. I always admired and respected him. He never wanted to be in the spotlight, never wanted to be in the fore front, but yet he was one of the best session guitarists out there. Yea, we definitely need more guys like him. Very Humble and I'd say, someone I wouldn't have minded knowing. Oh well, here we are though. He has left us much.
The one piece of music missing from all these episodes about Honky Tonk's is the greatest instrumental ever recorded ....namely "Honky Tonk" by Bill Doggett. Maybe because it's an R&B classic but it still has a place in Honky Tonk linguistic lexicon history. BTW...where the heck did the word Honky Tonk come from? Weirdest word I ever heard.
I didn't go to Honky Tonks, unless I was working there... I played a Steel Guitar, but chose not to stay out late, unless I had to.... 'cause I had a great Day Job...
My uncle Clearence was a true Cajun from south Louisiana, Eddie and he share the same shape of their lips . I thought that’s peculiar. Anyway, that’s where their similarities end, Eddie is more gracious and mannerly.
I'm very impressed with the electric guitar..You just don't hear them very much any more. I guess one of the reasons is that it has to be a very expensive instrument. Like everything else the bigger you go the more you pay for it.
I remember reading a article and I forget when but I think it was guitar magazine, someone asked Eddie VanHalen who he thought was was the best guitar player and his response was ROY CLARK, I remember it because it absolutely floored me that a rocker would say that.
So good to see Roy Clark in this episode
The great Jimmy Capps. Underrated in my opinion. Great post love seeing this.
What a voice Daryl Singletary had--great loss.

Deep Water. Always one of my favorites. God Bless Roy Clark. A real gentleman ❤
So many legends here, and a few have passed, and it's sad, but I'm glad we have Country's Family Reunion to look back on!
And we are so glad you are here!

We danced to EVERY SONG!
It’s good to see Dale there. He’s so underrated.I’ve been on a Watson run the last few days. He’s the Merle Haggard of Texas in my book. His originals are Really well-written tunes.

Saw Moe a couple years back in Hockley Tx. Still sounding Great. He’s the only artist I’ve let sign one of my hats.
Absolutely fabulous. Tru country music. ❤️🙏🎸👍😍
Yes, not this crap they call country music today.....
I believe there was more love there for Roy Clark than anybody.
Truly a Holly honk y Tonk🎉၏
Roy Clark a great guitar picker just like another the late Glenn Campbell.

Mike Johnson on pedal steel is just amazing! Especially when he hits that C6 neck! HeeHaw!

Tears started with the first word of Hey, good looking, i could see my Daddy singing it to me just like he did when i was little. Those were the days.

Honky Tonk, the best beer drinking music money can buy.

The Hee Haw gang came to our fair grounds years ago. So much talent in one place. It was an amazing concert.
It’s crazy how many of us started playing out at 14 & 15.
love this new series of country reunion.
This isn't new. These episodes are years and years old.
True, old episodes but I think they are new as far as being shown as a honky Tonk series ? Either way I’m always happy when any new series comes out so I can listen to true honky Tonk music and singers ❤

I really love this song a lot
This is country gold! Is that band great, or what?
Love this show❤❤❤❤debbie
So funny...i have family in Monahans
Thanks so much for these videos guys, but why do you release them years late? Hell jimmy Capps is gone three years now, and Roy Clark died in 2018.
Yeah that’s kinda strange. Jimmy Capps was the most sought after session rythym guitar player in Nvill for many years.
@@Docsjeff Right. I always admired and respected him. He never wanted to be in the spotlight, never wanted to be in the fore front, but yet he was one of the best session guitarists out there. What was that tag on Roy Clark's pants?
Dale Watson sounds so much like a mix of George Jones, Gene Watson and Merle Haggard.
Dale Watson is wonderful and can sing live like nobody’s business! He is the real
Deal!
Dale has a little of Lefty in his vocals.
I got the chance to see Dale live, about 7 or 8 years ago, and I was amazed by the man's voice! Smooth as silk.
Totally agree with you. He should be a bigger name in the Country Music business.
The one piece of music missing from all these episodes about Honky Tonk's is the greatest instrumental ever recorded ....namely "Honky Tonk" by Bill Doggett. The fantastic Daryl Singletary
Dale Watson seems to do a George Jones impersonation.
It would be nice to know when these shows were recorded.
patcountry 54 france great music
My uncle Clearence was a true Cajun from south Louisiana, Eddie and he share the same shape of their lips . I thought that’s peculiar. Anyway, that’s where their similarities end, Eddie is more gracious and mannerly.
A grils won’t to have some fun
About No less than 10 of these entertainers have passed😢
Dwight Yoakam is missing.
Bright lights and girls for my husband
They don’t get any better than Moe Bandy
