You probably need to do a project in the psi lab to unlock the alien psi amp. ALSO experimental Powered weapon? Make better rocket launchers for sparks and rage suit? Improve damage and shred? Make rockets better? With Experimental Powered Weapon in the proving ground? Please? *pretty please?*
I'm honestly really confused there. It's been like... what, twenty episodes, maybe more, where he's had the option to research this, alongside the resources. Not to mention all heavy weapons being instant researches too, so just... it's sitting there? I've learned everything about this game from Odd, including the fact that Powered Heavy Weapons should be taken asap, and the rockets also have that "new toy" syndrome while being great! So... I guess he's just thinking on so many things that he forgot the basics? Also, yes, Alien Psi Amp comes from Gatekeeper research, then the psi labs
With regards to Puddin Pops health. Don't forget that it's removing base health, of which he now has 6, so you really shouldn't be using that reqiuem ability unless it's absolutely critical. If you get down to his last 1 base health then kit him out with armour, vest, etc it might look like he has enough health to use it, but doing so will kill him, as it says on the abilty.
@@pbsixgun6 Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if he starts using that ability occasionally and eventually kills him by accident. He can only use it safely 5 more times...
You have got to stop waiting for the "perfect" opportunity. You had 4 crates readily available and so grouped up that you could have taken all of them in 1 turn and evacuated everyone in the next turn.
Agree also. Chris, by nature, is a cautious player. This definitely serves him well on a lot of missions but it is my opinion that this style of play does not suit these supply missions or the mission where you need to get to and defend the relay. I think both of those mission types require a bit more speed and accepting the added risk to accomplish the mission. I’m loving the series and for the vast majority of it, the few mistakes made by Odd, don’t bother me as we are all human and he plays far better then I ever could but my one criticism is that too often Odd waits far too long to set up the perfect opener and the situation deteriorates around him as a good opener passes by while waiting for the perfect one. However, it’s a great series to watch with Odd being a very good player and a mature and pleasant individual.
@@Michael974100 Odd is certainly entertaining to watch and I've learnt XCOM from watching every episode of his (no exaggeration) but sometimes it's just better to be assertive than cautious.
On the same line here, this kind of mission is exactly on the opposite side of odd’s cautious play style, it would be a good opportunity and quite refreshing to see him just accept the risk and just YOLO IT. ☺️
Many thanks for this amazing series, as always!!! I like how you prioritize the safety of your soilders before you own goals and ambitions, as they are kind of a gift that was given to you by your viewers! At least that's how it feels to me, from my perspective as a viewer. So many times you could have sacrificed or put many of them in much scary danger, but you keep true to you style. I personally like that more than watch you having a few more supplies for a while. You also seem to usually manage well even when you're kind of short on resources. 😁
I think you need to start listening to the comments and *stop* waiting for the "perfect opportunity" in these missions. When you have 4 crates lined up and ready to go, *_GRAB THEM._*
This kind of missions do not benefit from a slow approach . They require more of a HIT AND RUN style, which is kinda like the opposite of odd’s play style. I wonder if we will ever get there :)
Man. Ironclad has had an actual story at this point, going from the early capture by a berserker, to being understandably afraid of Mutons, to being a hunter of Mutons, to being the first to wear their queen's body into battle, the thing that Mutons fear.
Definitely easier without the lost IF you can find where 3-4 crates are clumped before reinforcements arrive or get revealed, mark the crates and evac everyone except your concealed stealther, and get him/her out the next turn so the game gives you the successful mission/supplies.
Keep in mind, you won't be able to capture EXALT on this one the way you normally do, since this mission has a fixed evac point and you can't toss one down yourself. Unless you get exceedingly lucky with the time and location of sending one into bleedout, I think the only way you'll be able to try capturing one is to Dominate the one you want and bring them to the evac that way. I don't think you can directly evac the MCed EXALT soldier, but you can just take them near the evac at the end of the mission, shoot them into (hopefully) bleedout, then go for the capture like usual. So if you want to go that route, make sure to decide which one you want (you can check my list of EXALT we've currently seen for their classes), and save your Dominate for that.
I believe out of all MEC EXALT Troopers we have never seen any enter a bleedout; they just die. Which makes me feel like you can't capture the MEC troppers of EXALT. With that said, I think it should be possible to capture EXALT that is mindcontrolled directly, and I think it should have better chance to succeed than a normal capture, cause the unit is not about to die, so unless they commit suicide or somehow die when mind control breaks they should survive always. Both lore-wise and mechanic-wise (you spend a Domination on them after all) it should be tuned to make better chances of successfull capture, if you try an evac on a mind-controlled EXALT soldier.
The Mec troopers are coded specifically to not be able to bleedout or be captured. But yeah, mind controlling a "normal" EXALT and evacing them should be possible.
@@TheBlobik Ya, it's a weird interaction with EXALT and mind control. I know the EXALT MEC Troopers cannot go into bleedout, so they're un-capturable. I think the previous incident where Odd MC'd an EXALT but couldn't directly evac them involved an EXALT Rookie, which also cannot go into bleedout (this is why we somewhat hilariously have two "Alive" EXALT Rookies on the list). Maybe the Rookies are also un-capturable overall, like the MECs, so maybe Domination would work differently on a regular EXALT soldier.
4 crates?? 😂TBH Chris, I'm not sure why you're bothering with supply missions at all! 😂 Like you, I have almost 500 alloys and over 300 Elerium, I'll be cooking until the end of days, especially as it seems Mechapedes, Cyberdisks and (probably) Legates (only killed two so far) drop roughly 30 of each a time too! My main focus these days is crushing the Chosen, once I get their weapons, I'll finish building the dream squad then it's good to go!
119 already and not even near the end… awesome season so far! Ups, downs, deaths, drama and 2025 fireworks coming up soon, wishing all a great time and happy holidays :)
Honestly, I’d just go in grab 1 or 2 and then do a real mission. Ends up being 30 minutes of trying and wounds, but same result. Edit: I should say I’d been dead a long time before now as well.
Happy Christmas all, multiple lures and explosives on supply missions with lost, Get the Aliens busy with the lost, And grab crates while they fight each other I don't bother doing much shooting at all, 3 or 4 crates is usual, maybe half a dozen on an extremely good run With your squad I would have used the hidden units only to.grab crates, re-hide and grab another crate Rather than using the ambush skills
The problem is you weren't accounting for reinforcements continuing even when you're concealed. Waiting around for the perfect moment doesn't work when the enemy count is ticking up the whole time. Though also the Lost AI only being willing to attack the aliens with a couple of units at a time is made it a lot harder.
I think you should have been a lot more aggressive. If you'd engaged that first pod before the first reinforcement drop you'd likely have been able to grab 3-4 crates and evac before the chosen even showed up.
I typically avoid resource extraction missions. Too much headache for not much reward. Better to go for the smash and grabs. Simpler, no reinforcements and your worst enemy is typically the timer. It's still not a lot of payoff, but it get you some xp for a couple underleveled units

Howdy, Chris! A bit belated Merry Christmas! Got hooked on your XCOM series again. Need to play XCOM 2 in general, I kinda missed it, lol. Question: Should I make a vanilla playthrough, or go with the mods from the get-go?
I think starting the fight in a region WITHOUT crates in the middle of it might give a better chance of getting crates. But, ya know, XCom gonna Xcom and always drop reinforcements in the most hideously inconvenient places, since it cheats anyway.
some of these missions don't work with some of these ubermensch units as evidenced by having to up the damage of the data transfer relays by almost 10x just so it can tank the damage of stuff like the mechapede that can do more than 15-20 damage in a single turn which would would have killed it in one turn as used to happen early on in the campaign even with the "weaker" enemies. i wish there was a way to actually improve the missions and objectives too to make the risk/reward better. it's not like the base game was balanced all that well and these mods are making it worse
