1 month ago when Maelstrom died I rage quit and didn’t watch a single episode for like 2 weeks. But after a lot of hard work and dedication, I have finally caught up and I’m ready for new episodes!
Season 9 is clearly the best ever. The mod team has done an incredible job! The overall production is top notch! The character pool is out of this world. I could manage another year of this ;-)
That was a really well-handled mission. You took full advantage of finding the field commander at the start (even if it was a Legate!), and then just methodically worked through everything else as it came at you. Also, Oscuridad probably deserved at least two MVPs for this one! I'll give the full rendition when I do the next scoreboard, but she was tying and breaking records that got set on huge Lost missions.
That damage is unreal. She reminds me of a character from our old tabletop game, Called "The Demon of Pain" The place it's in gives it special powers, it has to be killed in a single turn or it fully regenerates. If you DO kill it....your character replaces it the next time it's encountered. lol
NGL now that I think about it Faceless can be quite lackluster cause all they would do is hide as civilians. And even that's rare, especially this season. And with them appearing randomly in this episode, it gave me the idea. Elite Faceless: Can shapeshift itself into any Humanoid Advent Soldier that's within sightlines of it. Doing so takes their base stats including Armor except Aim from them. Non-Newtonian Flesh: 75% Less DMG is dealt to the Faceless when attacked by High Velocity Weapons (Sniper, Assault, Vektor Rifles) and receives 20% more DMG when attacked by Low Velocity Weapons (Bullpups, Pistols, Shotguns).
There used to be missions they were specifically involved in at one point??? Maybe it was in the Longwar specifically? Trying to catch the faceless spies meeting with Advent agents.
@@pbsixgun6 Now that I think about it would make the most sense since Melee should be the slowest velocity weapon in the game. Since I was going for the Idea to work like some form of Alien Ooblek. But if balancing wasn't a problem it would get a dmg reduction across the board because even a simple fist punch Ooblek "hardens" when hit.
So if anything It probably would be 60-75% Reduction vs (Assault, Sniper, Vektor), 20--30% Reduction vs (Bullpup, Shotguns, Pistols) and maybe 25-50% DMG Increase vs Melee.
Having just seen the Warlock means you won't see the Warlock next mission, it has no affect on whether or not you'll see the Hunter (or Assassin). Each are on independent counters.
Very cool. I think your scout got revealed just cause she used blend. I think it only lasts for a turn or two. Great job taking on this mission. Even with a powerful squad it still got kinda hairy
Such a cool episode to wrap up the year, yay!!! Many, many thanks for another awesome year of great work, I simply love the content on the channel!!!! 😁 I kind of like the current pace of content, as I find it a bit overwhelming when there's too many things I want to watch and only so many hours of the day, lol! Anyways, it's just a thing of mine where I find it quite hard to pass on the really amazing and entertaining things I want to watch, but it would still be awesome knowing there's more of your videos out there making people smile and enjoy!!!!
I feel like it's a little much having a mechapede or legate on every mission after you see them the first time. They're very difficult units to deal with, they usually cause long wound times if not deaths, and it prevents you often times from doing missions because you don't have the squad to take on one of those two enemies, which then prevents the mid level characters from getting any better from promotions and bond increasing. It just seems like you have to have your tip squad ready at all times otherwise things get extremely questionable
@@N8xN8only if he brings the absolute best, which is impossible if it's encountered in 80% of missions, it's not a challenge it's just boring after a while
@@N8xN8 Only if he brings the top squad, which is impossible if every mission has a mechapede or legate. They only grind you down, it's not fun having every mission with them
@@drazman237 They do force the commander to choose his soldiers carefully, but you don't have to have your top tier soldiers to do well against them. Once you figure out the best strategies against them, you can usually take them down in 2 turns without fatalities - bring healing, though! N8xN8 is right, though - without them the challenge level would be minimal unless running out fairly newbie squads at this point in the campaign. The only time I now struggle with them is when I have to deal with the Assassin or Warlock being active at the same time as a legate or mechapede is active. 3 more days and I can finally take out the Warlock once and for all!
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the suppression from suppressing shot applies AFTER a shot occurs - which means legate is reacting before they’re suppressed (thus the high aim)
Not correct, the suppression happens instantly if the target is not dead. The Legate has such high stats that it hits anyway (should be nerfed, or limiting the encounters)
@@drazman237 that's what the perk text says, but I believe the actual implementation is shot --> reaction --> suppression since the extendedperkpack.uc implies it's actually 2 separate actions. Legate has a base aim of 90 so -full cover and -suppression should be around 0 aim give or take some bonuses
@@drazman237 that's what the skill description says, but the extended perk pack has it as two actions - so I think the actual implementation order is shot --> reaction --> suppression
I haven't been keeping up too much with the campaign lately, but seeing the Legate respond to a shot by blasting 2 units, destroying a bunch of cover, and applying several conditions all at once answered a lot of my questions, lol.
Hi Chris, i am from Australia, Happy New Year, i love watching your videos, keep up the good work, i really enjoy the X-Com videos, i have watched every single one of the,, from all campaigns you have done
The lighting when those faceless showed up about 5:43 made me think of the goopy gold Plasm Wraith from Pikmin 3. Got confused thinking it was a new version of faceless for requiem or something. XP Also, about the Nightmare Chrysalids: The reason they are that hard to hit on overwatch is because they gain massive defense against overwatch attacks unless they are in range to blow someone up. They're designed to counter the exact strategy you were using against them.
Considering the legate's cone attack, it seems that standing away and in a wide array rather than a line would be a way to avoid getting nuked. That said I'm not sure it's any better that the legate fires their primary weapon if they are almost dead, getting +5 critical damage and +50 critical chance.
Both stink - that's why it really helps if at all possible to have a mind-controlled enemy, psi zombie, etc. to stick in its ugly mug, to al least take one of the shots. Or have the faction card that will occasionally give you an extra soldier and use them as cannon fodder for a legate/mechapod.
(Elliot’s logs are handwritten, then scanned and digitised by helpful logistics staff) Elliot ‘Boatman’ Tebaia 19 March 2036 I tell myself that I died in George Town. There were walking ghouls, zombies. We had a turret on the Resistance vehicle, but it could only do so much. I told Salmah to stay on the turret while I climbed onto a walkway above her to shoot from a better vantage point, only to have the rusting metal snap under my weight, and the last thing I remember is the ground rushing up to meet me. Now I’m in XCOM. I can still walk. I can still fight. But I’ve been told to return to a bed in the medical bay for the next couple of days, just in case I had any lingering effects from the fall. I walked around the floor I’m on. There is a LOT to take in. I managed to avoid staring rudely at how strangely some of my new comrades are dressed. Salmah’s returned to the Malacca Resistance with my boat - I understand XCOM had to extract quickly and did not have the time to collect it, but I hope to get it back soon. When I returned to the medical bay, one of the doctors sat down and explained that the Commander *might* want me to be a MEC trooper and what it would entail. …I think I’m going to need to lie down.
1:16:40 That degree of mind control would be very immersive, and a powerful tactic. I'm not sure if a mod could use mechanics of _Interrupt_ perk to make that work Both seem to work in similar ways, even if the Magna's Supremacy actions don't have the same command chain.
My guess is late January! I said 150 episodes and I’m sticking to it! Amazing season, it’s been a blast. Gonna have to contemplate what I’m going to do once this is over 🤔
always been curious about experience gain, oscuridad went from 192 to 222 this map, 4 from the last kill on the nightmare hive 30 points total.. Commander, I'm not entirely sure Suppressing Fire works as you think it does. I think it goes Shot -> Reaction -> Suppression, and the reaction ends up being unsuppressed. I remember noticing it earlier in the campaign and it seemed like this on the Legate as well. There's just no way he has 70% and 90% hits while being suppressed, that's just not correct mathswise.

Is Odd's last save game posted to Discord episode 52? If so, would love to have a recent save game posted to compare my campaign roster to his and see how varied the different builds are compared to my soldiers.
He got Cybernetic as an EXALT capture, so he's essentially the base-game Psionic class. That's the only way in this modpack to get the vanilla classes (Sentinel is the other example - he's a vanilla Specialist). His other two EXALT captures this run have been a Templar (Ino) and a Reaper (Wraith), so they're the same as the XCOM versions.
Odd, why do you insist to use supressing fire against Legate? Because it does a standard shot firstly, Legate fires and cancel the suppression. You should have freezed Legate's sorry ass first each turn before shooting.
