This vid title says IT ALL!! I have been riding it for several years now from South Texas to Sturgis. Its always been about the ride and not the destination. Best ride was last year. Went with some close friends, and my ultra snapped an axle in Alliance nebraska. Sucke to be broke dowen, but a guy named Tom of Toms Cycle and Auto rescued me, when i thought it was all over. My friends refused to continue until my bike was fixed. Tom was amazing with what needed to be done, couldnt get an axle so he made one in his machine shop and a couple other parts and treated me more than right on the price. On the way back we stopped back by to get some work done on one of the other bikes. Hung out, we stayed in touch with him and a couple of the other locals. We plan on making it a part of the ride this year to stop and visit. Again it sucks being broke down, but the people you meet on the way are what make me keep doing kit. No set route, No set time frame, Sturgis is the ultimate destination, but if we end up elsewhere, so be it. This run in essence is to embrace your inner vagabond and let the road take you where the road goes. The most direct route for me is 1300 miles. but i always have 1500 or more on the clock before i get near Sturgis.
Posted this a few years ago. Still stop and visit tom and his wife, hang out, even ride with him. He even came to Texas to visit us. So yeah, still doin the run, even during the covid SCAMdemic.
Try riding down to Sturgis from Alaska annually. It's very challenging, beautiful, lonely, open and long! Best time of tge year. My annual pilgrimage will start this year on 7 July. Head to Wisconsin first for a class reunion then out! Piedmont cabin on 4-15th. Will be at American Legion nightly eatingv$14 supper with cake and ice cream. Exit 46 if you want to stop in some night!
Just returned after first time 'trip to Sturgis'. Totally agree. Black Hill are beautiful, huge area, so much to see and do. Hard to explain to those who've not been there. Can't wait to go back to Sturgis next year.
I have been going to Sturgis since 1973 and you are totally right, going to Sturgis is not about "going to Sturgis" it's everything else in the area. Nice video, tks
Last time I was in Sturgis was back in 78 just after the rally. This year I'm going during the rally for the 1st time to get it off my bucket list. It will be on the return leg of a 2/3 month trip out west. I live near Daytona so I know what I'm getting into. It will still be fun.
brian j gotta agree last ral!y I went to planned on staying longer but half day at the rally was enough back to the motel sleep ,get up early ,load the bike and get gone
Stopping your ride to get the blood circulating in your azz again is fattening for most of these riders? Stopping at every bar along the way is dangerous too. What restaurant wait staff would want to serve a group that large? Ever consider spreading out? I don't mean your backsides either.
I did the same the week before the rally and found it pretty much as you did. Great video and ride.

Nice ride.

I bet the people around you are really tired of your constant bitching. Am I right? Yeah, I'm right.
