As owner of a 2018 Springfield with not near the miles, that was a very encouraging video. Thanks. Keep it up.

Bought my 2017 Roadmaster, new as well.
    Just turned 60 grand.
Do my own oil changes too.
However, I have the dealership perform all of the inspections and repairs.
Had the same shift indicator issue repaired, dash latch and infotainment up dated too. And had the voltage regulator replaced at around 30 thousand miles.
My devoted Harley rider brother in law hates my Indian. He keeps reminding me that my bike is “not a true Indian!”
However, he admits that it is an American made bike.
I told him he can thank Indian for making Harley produce better made Harley .
Not better engineered than Indian, just a better Harley!😊

Rick, I know you are a Spartan guy so I must share this story with you. I was at a small restaurant in Mt Clemens and there was a couple in the next booth, The man was wearing a Spartan Indian shirt so I think he worked there. When I was ready to leave the waitress told me that he had paid for my dinner. He had already left so I could not thank him. Jim Johnson is still around and still doing bike and car video's. For the past two years I have been riding with a guy who has a new Indian Pursuit , very nice bike for sure.

Glad your bike is holding up well. My 2017 Cheiftan limited that I turned into a Roadmaster has been a great bike. It’s had a few minor issues, but never left me down.

Great review Rickie!! I do miss my 2015 and 2018 RoadMaster’s, both were great bikes. I always enjoyed our rides together, especially the Triple Nickel. We’ll have to get together soon.
    Take care,
    Lindsay

Nice review! That area that you were riding through looks really nice, very scenic. 50K miles and the bike still looks good and sounds good. Keep enjoying that ride Rickie!!

I’m not riding as much as I’d like. Mostly because of this crapy Covid. Hopefully I can get out on the road soon.

Thanks for your review and am glad you didn't list a bunch of petty grievances about the bike. I recently purchased a 2016 Indian Roadmaster that has only 7,700 miles on it... I had the dealer in Auburn, CA (C&E Indian and V-Twin) put new tires on it and they went thru the entire bike... replaced all fluids, filters and performed all of the inspections that the 10K service calls for. I agree with you, concerns removing the large luggage rack. I also removed the front lower fairings and put an Ultimate Seats solo seat on the back... I like Indian motorcycles and am so glad that Polaris owns Indian... great engines, design and reliability....

2021 Challenger Limited: 11,000 miles. 6 “check engine lights”, 2 no starts, failed GPS, TPMS, overheated once. Failed sensor. Guessing these aren’t petty grievances. I’m hoping Indian does me right and buys back or trades me out.

I enjoyed your review Rickie. I also have a 2017 RM Icon Series in two tone blue. It has been one of the best bikes I've owned, comfortable and handles wonderfully even with the tourpack always on. Only had an issue with the Ride Command screen, It was replaced under extended warranty. Otherwise would have been a $2600 repair. Ride safe.

New subscriber. Great video. I'm heading down to a used dealer tomorrow to discuss trading in my '16 Ultra for a '17 Roadmaster.

A 2017 Indian Roadmaster runs about $19,000 in my state. I am not in the market for another motorcycle at the moment, nice bike though.

Just about to turn 100k miles on my '14 Chieftain and it runs better than new. A gentleman from the Indian forums (Larry) recently turned over 500,000 miles on his '14 before he totaled it hitting a deer. The thunderstroke engines are bulletproof.

95°?, I don’t even look out the window when it’s above 90 let alone go out on a motorcycle for any length of time. I don’t remember how many years ago the last time it hit 95° here in Western Pennsylvania. It did hit 100° twice in my lifetime that I can remember, 1988…
do you get much glare off of the chrome on top of the gas tank? I was getting a lot of glare from a couple of my motorcycles, especially the gas cap, I would see a reflection of the gas, cap or the chrome around the gas cap on windshield and it was distracting..
how long have you had that belt drive to the rear wheel on this machine? Is that the original belt at 50,000 miles?
do the valves have self adjusting or do you have to have the valves adjusted manually. I looked at a Kawasaki Vulcan voyager with soft adjusting valves. That engine sounded like castanets. I didn’t buy the bike just for that reason…
The biggest issue I would have, what is the heat coming off of the engine like? I test Road and FJR 1300, it was an oven.. I did not buy that machine because it was burning. My shins Rumaih Kevlar pants on that 85° day. I took that bike for a half hour test ride.
I also had a Honda 700 saber they put out so much heat. I could feel the heat through my aerostich suit shins on a50° day..
are there any periodic adjustments needed for things like primary chain if it has a primary chain? Does this machine have one throttlebody or two separate throttle bodies?
One of these machines just came up for sale today on craigslist here in western Pennsylvania. I am a motorcycle j junkie, I’m riding a Yamaha royal star venture right now, my third, Venture since 1986. I keep going back to Venture‘s. I tried a GL 1800 Goldwing, went back to a venture then I try to BMW K 1200 LT, I went back to a venture.. never had a Harley, I just don’t like the anything they make, I wish they made something I liked.. I do like the moto guzzi’s.. had of em so far, But they all seem to be made for people that are 5’8” tall or less. I am 5’11”, and they are just a little snug in the leg room department…
I think the best looking cruiser bikes out there right now, or the Indians. I never even sat on one, but I was offered a job when I was in the Indian shop a few weeks ago. I used to work as a mechanic, and as a salesman for over 20 years part time in several different Japanese shops around Pittsburgh back in the late 70s through the 90s. i’m done working, let someone else pull the wagon for a change.. Right now I’m looking for my 110th motorcycle. May be an Indian.

How about the fender rust issues did polari no

    • @rickiekm
      @rickiekm  ปีที่แล้ว +1

No rust issues so far. I keep it in the garage for the most part, and don't live in an area near salt water. Also don't ride when there is any salt on the road during the winter months.

Has the roadmaster ever left you stranded needing a tow?

    • @rickiekm
      @rickiekm  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

No it has not. Although a friend of mine did have a clutch cable break, and that could certainly be a major issue.

@@rickiekm coming from kawasaki and ducati. Was concerned about indian and hd reliability considering one or other. Sounds like much less issues with Indian. I would be scared to try to go multi state on even a new road glide
