I've been using Blender for 6 years now. I migrated from AE/Premiere/Mudbox and 3DS Max to Blender. Somehow Blender was able to replace ALL of this Industry standard gigantic softwares. But I reached every single limitations that Relja presented on this video. Now I'm being forced to use Free Version of Fusion alongside Blender and some times even C4D (with it's MoGraph's amazing procedural animation capabilities) to achieve good professional results as a Motion Graphics artist. Don't get me wrong, I love Blender and it changed my life and my career. I'm so thankful for all that. I'm also aware that Blender doesn't have a full time army of programmers but as an active member of this community I ask you guys to consider everything this guy said on the presentation. I'm sure he presented most of our needs as motion graphic artists inside Blender. Maybe little by little as it has always been, Blender can also become the best MG tool among all the other amazing things it's now capable of! Sorry for the long text and thank you Blender developers for everything!
the beauty of blender is you can develop things as you need, people make great scripts and stuff without fearing legal stuff. you might want to talk with some of these people and learn to do stuff. maybe what you need is already out there just not publicized
Great talk Relja Trajković and thank you so much for bringing some of the issues we motion designers have with Blender up during your talk. I've been a mograph artist for over 15 years and there are so many little things that could be improved in Blender to make it a real viable option for Motion Graphics. I look forward to seeing Viddyoze Creators come online. Cheers,
best presentation of Bcon 17 in my view, great pace and humour. Blender Devs please implement all of this. It's spot on and it very greatly needed! Blender's text options are still stuck in 1998. At least bring it up to where Fusion was 20 years ago on text. Fusion's text+ node is what you need to emulate. Especially in how you can offset animate everything.
Great talk, totally agree about the text options in Blender. Having converted to a Blender loyalist from C4D about 10 years ago, the one thing I still miss are the many text options which C4D has. everything from custom bevels to being able to grid the face of the text to make it easier to warp and bend, without having to convert it to a mesh. Keeping it as an editable text object if your working on, for example, a set of titles for a corporate presentation, is crucial.
Fascinating presentation. I am a C4D user (with Modo for modeling and UV) and I would love to see Blender start to close the gap in the mograph arena. I keep current on the C4D Service Agreement, which is something like $600 a year. I'd love to say goodbye to that bill!
I really wish Blender had more tools for motion graphics. Animation Nodes are amazing improvement over basic Blender's offerings but at the end of the day there is no real alternative for After Effects. Hopefully that is gonna change with 2.8x!
X Rogers Yeah I've done the same thing and in some ways I think it's even more powerful than AE.. But how awesome it would be if Blender could do all of this? (AE / Fusion)
A lot of smart conclusions. Let's keep in mind Blender has no fulltime programming army so we can't expect such changes instantly. But this is definitely way to go and hopefully ideas presented in this video will be inspiration for developers of Blender.
dafimperator. In the first video of this Conference, the keynote by Ton Roozendaal, he talks about the programmers. Also on Blender-dot-org or on BlenderNation there is more info about them.
David Wallmann I doubt it will be on the level of SD (for Texturing at least) but it would be nice to see an overhaul/revival of texture nodes that allows bitmap manipulation.
10:22 Solvay conference! Most of the (early) luminaries of quantum theory in one photo.

In some example, the action editor and NLA would be useful for repetitive but not sync animation. Just did something similar. And You can also scale those action scripts. But if this guy is having good business, he could fund some research and development to get rid of those shortages.
It could be done using the Python Imaging Library, I imagine: load the image, measure its dimensions, pad the shorter dimension out to the longer one to make it square, then save it out again in a lossless format like PNG.
You don't get to download these blend files. You render them on our platform and get final video in mp4. Check www.viddyoze.com for more info, but in a nutshell, you either pay one time fee to get access to some 80 templates, or pay monthly fee to be able to render majority of our template database (over 800 templates currently). But we have marketplace coming up soon, which would allow anyone to pay per render.
11:18 Instead of using text curves, you could render out the text, using a quality layout engine like HarfBuzz, to a high-res bitmap with alpha transparency, then place that in the scene. (Not so) coincidentally, I have a Python binding for HarfBuzz available, called HarfPy.
Thought about it as an option, but it would make animators work very unintuitive as it would require external app for each local test. We prefer to keep Blender only workflow when at all possible with as few unofficial add-ons and modifications as possible.
It's a web app. You either purchase one time commercial or personal licence, for about 80 templates, or subscribe to monthly plan to get access to all templates (800+ at this point). You don't get access to blender files, you render videos directly on our servers and get final video in mp4 format. Launching marketplace soon. Then people will be able to pay per render. More info: www.viddyoze.com
The only way I have figured out is exporting that animation to mesh cache or alembic, importing back in and then it's actually really fast, maybe even faster than normal keyframes. The problem is, it's hard to adjust or edit it afterwards, need to export again. Also changing materials or textures if used different for different parts is not easy.. basically, flexibility is lost.
Viddyoze Creators is something we're working on. It's about enabling everytone to make and sell templates on Viddyoze. Addon we made is called Viddyoze Publisher, but it's currently useless to you since we don't have Viddyoze Creators up and running. Follow me here or on Twitter (@ReljaTrajkovic) to be informed about Viddyoze Creators progress.
**presses** **undoes stuff done to the mesh object** **undoes a long process of selecting every O and assigning it to different material** **undoes all of fine-tuning of modifiers applied to the mesh object** **undoes conversion of text object to mesh** ...? **undo limit reached, didn't actually undo conversion of text object to mesh** ... ... FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Right now, Animation Nodes may be your only option. But it's a really, really powerful one as far as I can see. It's definitely on my list of things to explore.
Templates? Yes you can. But keep in mind there's one time $47 or $67 (personal or commercial licence) entry purchase where you get 80 templates. But to use absolute majority of our templates there's additional $37/Month membership. With Template Club you get 20 new templates each month. More info at www.viddyoze.com and www.viddyoze.com/club
Anonymous Developer yes, if there is some other site selling or providing this original content free, or at a discount chances are that's asset piracy. I would advise against looking elsewhere for the same content. Just in general avoid shady sites redistributing paid content without permission.
A really bad team of scientist when they were not able to solve the "W and I" problem. Different width for different characters is obvious, but I saw smart coders having big brain problems with this issue, since you can't solve it just in code. You have to render it out in a hidden element, measure it, then take this info for further manipulation. But then it's easy.

I guess this guy is gonna take most out of EEVEE.
I'd like to know your opinion updated as we have now 2.83 released and 2.90 in alpha!
@@FathinLuqmanTantowi true, huge community at the post right now
Awesome presentation, a great balance of humor and stone cold facts!
These guys are truly resourceful. Amazing job
its so exciting to see how far Blender has come to
Epic presentation, guy sure knows how to keep audience attracted
Fantastic presentation. Loved seeing the motion graphics side of Blender. Thanks for this!
Glad you liked it. Thanks.

Thanks. It's so great to hear people agree with this.

Why? doesn't C4D make you money?
I am Beginner of Blender , Your presentation is really good for us .
Lmfao
awesome, very exciting to see the mo-graph side of blender.
20:57 - It's 2020, Geo nodes are arriving to main branch. Thank you so much, because expos like this made it happen in time.
I really wish Blender had more tools for motion graphics. Animation Nodes are amazing improvement over basic Blender's offerings but at the end of the day there is no real alternative for After Effects. Hopefully that is gonna change with 2.8x!
I just downloaded black magic fusion people say its just as good as AE
Have you tried Commotion addon?
X Rogers Yeah I've done the same thing and in some ways I think it's even more powerful than AE.. But how awesome it would be if Blender could do all of this? (AE / Fusion)
Really excited about the text node (string to curve) seems to be cool as this guy wanted...
A lot of smart conclusions. Let's keep in mind Blender has no fulltime programming army so we can't expect such changes instantly. But this is definitely way to go and hopefully ideas presented in this video will be inspiration for developers of Blender.
At least one of Blender Developers was in the front row. Hope others will at least hear this.
Let's remember, that Blender has full time programmers, army not needed.
Sorry, I didn't know about it. Can you drop a link to some info about it ?
:D
dafimperator. In the first video of this Conference, the keynote by Ton Roozendaal, he talks about the programmers. Also on Blender-dot-org or on BlenderNation there is more info about them.
Thanks for this Blender. LOVE TOU BLENDER
thanks for this talk, very informative :)
10:31 Another option is to only squash the text horizontally. That way you don’t end up with large gaps above and below.
using substance designer i can say texture filters are extremly powerful :) I really hope it will be avaible some day for blender :)
David Wallmann I doubt it will be on the level of SD (for Texturing at least) but it would be nice to see an overhaul/revival of texture nodes that allows bitmap manipulation.

I agree that Blender text is clunky at best. I hope the team does address some of the points brought up in this video!
6:12 That's where lindybeige got his intro animation for his Q214 videos
is that yoona SNSD?
6:47 She's not just a lady! she's a member of a globally popular korean girl group!!! :D
*this will be so good for yt channel intros… :)
4:08 This could have been done entirely in Python, within Blender.
It's more convenient to convert the image after the upload. Otherwise the python script would have to be in _every_ blender template file.
It’s something to be done as a standard part of the upload process.
Do you have an example of such python script, or something similar?
It could be done using the Python Imaging Library, I imagine: load the image, measure its dimensions, pad the shorter dimension out to the longer one to make it square, then save it out again in a lossless format like PNG.
well these are awesome tricks to speed render of graphics that are the same ty :D
so where are these templates, are they part of the regular blender marketplace or do they have their own website?
You don't get to download these blend files. You render them on our platform and get final video in mp4. Check www.viddyoze.com for more info, but in a nutshell, you either pay one time fee to get access to some 80 templates, or pay monthly fee to be able to render majority of our template database (over 800 templates currently). blender needs to look at this for next version
Well, it is on their channel
we need more motion graphics tools
11:18 Instead of using text curves, you could render out the text, using a quality layout engine like HarfBuzz, to a high-res bitmap with alpha transparency, then place that in the scene.

Can somebody explain me the monetization policy bheind viddyoze... he said they are blender files. So it can be selled?

is it possible to make your own and upload to viddy to earn money?
The fact that group instance animations can't be retimed or offseted really sucks, have had this problem many, many times. Unnecessarily tedious.
I was hoping someone's gonna correct me after the talk and tell me how to do it in Blender. But nope. :)
Did Andrew talk in this year's conf?
Nope.
Is Viddyoze Creators add-on available right now? If not, when will it be?
Viddyoze Creators is something we're working on. It's about enabling everytone to make and sell templates on Viddyoze. Thank you! I liked your presentation very much.
Glad to hear it. Thanks.
I'd prefer a modifier that converts a text object to a mesh object
EXACTLY!
Hm. That is cool, but I'd still love mesh modifiers for the text, as changing text after you convert it to a mesh object is not so straightforward...
**presses**
**undoes stuff done to the mesh object**
**undoes a long process of selecting every O and assigning it to different material**
**undoes all of fine-tuning of modifiers applied to the mesh object**
**undoes conversion of text object to mesh**
...?
**undo limit reached, didn't actually undo conversion of text object to mesh**
...

Ok, Thanks
I'll keep in mind.
There any other site provide these templates? or this it!
Anonymous Developer if there is I think that might be piracy...
??piracy??
Anonymous Developer yes, if there is some other site selling or providing this original content free, or at a discount chances are that's asset piracy. I would advise against looking elsewhere for the same content. Just in general avoid shady sites redistributing paid content without permission.

at least ik right now that blender isnt good at motion graphics atm, which is obv quite shame ;/
So..after 3 years...
Nice nice
A
7:10 Yoona. lol
At 14:44 i clapped
still not upto cinema 4d capabilities
blender will kill other many 3d software!
5 years blender text still isnt that good
