This movie was the main reason for me to join the german air force and became a F-4 Phantom Pilot , now retired after 21 years of active service. Now i can say, this movie has nothing to do with the life and work of a real fighter pilot...but it's still a damn good movie!

In "Top Gun Maverick" when Maverick goes to full zone 5 afterburner before taking off and when Maverick does a Pirouette turn in the F-14A Tomcat or when the F-14 does a fast barrell roll while deploying a stream of chaff flares dodging the missile, that was a flood of emotions. They really made F-14 Tomcat the star of the "Top Gun Maverick". They knew Tomcat had to be in it.

Top Gun was one of the reasons why I joined the Navy a few years after it came out. And was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. I was in almost 8 years. But the Navy isn’t for everyone. If you can’t deal with the adversity, stress and pressure of being in the military then don’t even think of joining the Navy. Because it can be the worst decision you ever make in your life. If you can’t deal with what you go through in the Navy it can eat you alive. There are a lot of people who never should have joined the military. And their life is never the same after that.
The Navy will separate the men from the boys and the women from the girls. I’ve seen a lot of people screw up and get kicked out of Navy and I will mess up the rest of their lives because of it. Like I said before joining the Navy can be the best theming you do or the worst thing you ever do. The choice is up to you. If you want to hang G out all the time with people who only want to drink and get wasted all the time. Your career in the Navy might very short and screw up your life forever. Or you might be in longer then 4 years and you might get a lot out of the Navy.
I have many fond memories of watching F-14s perform at our local air show (which has sadly been defunct for many years now). There was nothing like watching a Tomcat blowing by airshow center with her wings swept back and those twin F110s screaming. RIP old girl - you are missed.
Very well done!!! I was onboard the USS John C Stennis for the last deployment of the F14. It will forever be my favorite fighter. And this will forever be my favorite movie! Excellent job sir!!
Top Gun 2 will not touch this masterpiece. The glory of F-14 and Tony Scott's cinematographyt is what made the movie. Both have gone. At dusk, when you see the huge glow and thunder from the two TF-030 P&W engine on the F-14 going into full in zone 5 afterburn at 42,000 lbsf of thrust, you know there cannot be another movie like this without the F-14.
They can never make an 'Epic' movie like this again. We have lost the technical ability, and the weapons are so clinical now. Nothing is within visual range. It is all fought from a keyboard, with software and computers. We don't know it yet, but probably DARPA does it all with Autonomous systems too.

F14 - The greatest fighter ever made. History shows, no one ever wanted to f'ck with an F-14. It truly dominated the airspace. As long as they had a visual ID of an F-14, over 95% chose to turn around and bug out. In the 80s over the "line of death", F-14s were intercepting SU-22, MIG-21, MIG-23, MIG-25P and had no issues quickly getting behind them in dogfights, but Reagan ROE "don't fire unless fired upon" allowed the Libyan MIGs to bug out on a daily basis. In 1991, Saddam told his MIG, SU pilots to not engage in dogfights against the F-14 (seeing what Iran F-14s did in the 80s). In the Syrian conflict in 1988, a pair of F-14s were sent out to intercept 8 MIGs. Yes, 8 MIGs. The 2 F-14s engaged 8 MIGs in a 2v8 fight. Both F-14s got locks on 2 MIGs quickly. Before the F-14 pilots could get clearance, 4 of the MIGs blew right past the F-14s and the rest 4 turned back and bugged out. 100% true. "ANYTIME BABY!"
The F-14 is what started my love of military aircraft! The Tomcat is, was, and always will be one beautiful and badass piece of dominating air power ever made

Truly the greatest. I mean, how could it not be when it's main job in many of the Iraq wars to scare the sh*t out of the other MIGs etc. and have them turn around and run as soon as they had a visual ID of an F-14 engaging them.
@@neliogugelberger5885 Like is pesonal preference. F-14 on the other hand the dominant beast.
