    I was 59 when I first heard this masterpiece byDave. I’d never given rap/hiphop a chance before this. I’ve since bought his albums , seen him live and opened my mind to rap music. So much poetry , emotion and pure musicianship to discover ! I’m sure my friends think I’ve gone mad but they just won’t listen and give it a chance. Loved your reaction and appreciation of this young genius.

      @@yves5767 I do hope you get to see him live ! He was pretty amazing although I did feel a little out of place as I was surrounded by younger people than myself ! Glad I went though! Take care .

    A saying in the UK "papering over the cracks" like wall papering over cracked walls to hide problems rather than deal with them

    the comment on ¨representing countries that never existed when my grandmother was living¨you are correct. My great grandmother was 99 when she died in 1993 and Nigeria didn't exist as a country when she was born in 1894. So yes, like pakistan and most of west and central africa these borders were "created" by the colonials, who moved and shifted borders as it suited them.

    Smashed it again mate, Jack Merritt was a graduate from Cambridge who was working with prisoners on rehabilitation and worked with Dave’s brother, he was killed in a terrorist attack in London along side Saskia Jones, Jack’s parents were in the audience that night and didn’t know Dave was doing that tribute, I think you’re bang on about Africa being carved up by Europeans with no thought to ethnicity or religion very similar to India with partition, Panic attack live is quality, just a younger Dave at the piano rapping about his life

    Jack Merrit was killed in the london bridge attack 2019. He worked with rehabilitation and release of prison inmates. Dave knew him personally since Jack was trying to get Daves brother out of prison

    I’m SO happy that you REALLY see Daves genius.
    It absolutely kills me that most of America doesn’t even know who he is… such a loss for U.S rap, they could learn so much. As seen with his collabs with artists like Fredo and Central Cee, he improves and inspires other artists.
    Fantastic reaction my man 👍👍

    Papering cracks , imagine you had a crack on your wall , you put wallpaper over it to hide it. Basically what hes saying is its a temporary fix (covering it) rather than dealing with the bigger issue (the crack)

    Windrush - West indies "rush". Caribbean's who as part of the "commonwealth" (afka British empire) came over to work in the 1950's to help rebuild Britain after WW2, who haven't been treated very well. Some have had their status as citizens revoked/unconfirmed even though they have lived in the UK and paid tax for decades.,

      Think it was named after the SS Windrush, which was the name of the ship that landed at Tilbury Docks in about 54. West Indians were invited over to help rebuild the "motherland", which pretty much sums up colonialisation for you...

    • @PianoDentist
      @PianoDentist ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@karmannghiaman1041 Thanks, I never knew it was the name of a ship - I just looked it up, you're right.
      I always thought it was a concatenation, given that we refer to the west indies cricket team as the Windies for example.

Great reaction your knowledge is impressive you understood alot papering cracks might be a uk thing that you don't use in the states it means to not deal with the root cause of an issue and to instead paper over it as a short term fix like a bandaid

    A big hug for you my friend Zee!!...No one better than you, to analyze this incredible singer who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor (Do you remember Jim Carrey's movie "The Mask"? well, just like that)....In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer".... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"....Since then all this madness began on the internet, TH-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano.....You can see in TH-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide.... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you....Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers...The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality.....th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html

    When you refer to the partitioning of India into three, Pakistan and Bangladesh being the other two, ive often wondered why there doesn't appear to be India and Bangladesh conflict and I don't know why?
    Anyway, if you haven't done so, Ghosts of Grenfell by Lowkey is a powerful track, as are most of his to be honest. Also, Terrorist or Ahmed, the latter is so, so sad...

    1885 European leaders met in berlin to carve up africa before that the were no borders or divisions. Europe today is wealthy and successful on the back of the minerals and also slave labour. Many got an advantage by the disadvantage of others. And through deception of distorted literature that was spread through Europe that africans were barbaric and not beautiful. All lies how can anything created in the image of God be an error or ugly. History is important but we should let the future pull us forward with hope and optimism lets keep walking in love and kindness for eachother

  • @AM-dz2sh
    @AM-dz2sh ปีที่แล้ว

    YES - The Pakistan reference, is exactly what Dave meant by that - Africa as we know it today would be unrecognisable to 70 years ago. Countries have disappeared, many new ones have been created. Fair play in picking that up, if you have no prior knowledge of that continent!!!!!!!!

    Young black man only seeing paper (money) and crack (obvious!), given tougher sentences it’s only papering cracks… I assumed it was a phrase in US too, it means to only superficially fix things

  • @simonkean8214

    Listen to three rivers for more of his poetry about the windrush generation and general racism against migrants, and the struggles.
    It’s a criminally underrated track of his.
    They built our country to be great again, then 50 years later their citizenship is revoked and they are exiled….. it’s a national fucking disgrace, and this is a white man speaking- I can’t imagine the anger and despair that proud British families must be going through with this 😢

  • @AM-dz2sh

    FYI - This performance was a few MONTHS BEFORE the George Floyd incident and the uprising of BLM..!!!!!!!!! If there were ever a time for Dave to break the US, it should have been from this.!?!! (I don't think he is gonna crack it.. the US just doesn't have an appetite for his music! SAD!)
