- While in Glasgow, I had a chance to interview Richard "the Nose" Paterson, Master Blender of Whyte and McKay for my episodes about Sir Ernest Shackleton and the bottle of 100 year old whisky that Richard had the honor to match in a blend.
During the recording, I asked him if he would share his tasting technique and he jumped right in, so I decided to pull the camera phone out and capture it for you. After watching this video, your carpet may never be the same!

My favorite whisky thrower 🎉
He's got a talent for it.
Здоровья на долгие года уважаемому мастеру и учителю!
Спасибо 🥃
Six times I ruined my whisky
0:12 I knew a woman like that.
Strange feel, burn feel when whisky mix it on your tongue and mouth, uncomfortable feel, how you feel other tastes? Best regards
What?
How many doller he trow on the floor everyday
Hard to know...he says it is the most expensive carpet in Scotland!
Capita is good for bourbon not for scotch. Whisky best smells from the bottle not glass.
Interesting, I'm kind of the opposite. The copita helps concentrate the vapours for me. The tumbler gets more use with bourbon. But it is definitely down to what works best for the individual. Cheers 🥃
Richard Paterson is a clown creating this fantasy/myth of cleaning a glass of whiskey.
You have to clean it first with water and neutral soap. then change the glass to taste another whiskey again because of the fuzel oil from the previous drink.
This Richard Paterson is ridiculous
He's not for everyone. I will say, if you watch my interviews with him, we talk about that and how it started as a device to get people's attention when he was doing conference presentations. It does get people's attention - but it can be a double edged sword.
