    Good video, hope all goes well.
    As mentioned before, learn to double clutch , it will smooth out the shifting both up and down, and reduce strain on the power train, practice on your car if it is a manual.
    Inducate you turn well in advance, And use the full road to turn if necessary

    As a former interstate owner operator I'd like to give you a little bit of advice when it comes to maintenance always have the best steer tyres you can get and dont run recaps on the rear
    Always check for any leaks of any kind and get them attend to right away
    Dont squib on services and use the best filters and oils you can get might cost a bit more but the old saying goes pay once cry once
    Keep good quality greese and greese gun and use it regularly
    Learn to take your wheels off and put them back on
    Keep your tyre pressures up and check them often
    Get yourself a good jack and a board of about 450mm x 450mm x 30 to 40mm thick as a base for the jack and get a second jack just in case
    When it comes to fuel dont buy fuel where you dont see trucks fueling up from billy bobs cheap fuel may cost you a fortune in repairs
    And if you can fit some large fuel tanks cos those busses get fueled up practicality every night the range is not great
    Look after your new home and it will serve you well

      @@DiandSam We are converting it, yes. We actually did a roof raise (on a coach bus!) and are getting very close to fully enclosing her again. The demo took awhile. Once we're done with the new skin, then we move onto the interior and we are stoked for that! Oh, here's the first time we drove our sweet Magnolia: th-cam.com/video/Q7zTuEuwl6k/w-d-xo.html

    Great stuff you guys! Having a bus is a terrific idea. Sam, learn to double-clutch and it will smooth out those gear changes, especially when you change down gears to use the motor for saving the brakes as much as possible. You did great on that drive home. Brought back some memories of my first day truck driving - I slept like a log at the end of the day from all the constant stress throughout that day. Lionel.

  • @jamesfrench7299
    @jamesfrench7299 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It might be over 20 years old but bus styling hasn't changed that markedly since and this coach body is quite sleek looking and modern.
    I loved the sound of the turbocharger which would help getting the heft up and going!
    It seems to cope with open road speeds fine. Does it have a splitter?
    Looks like a good choice of bus with trusty durable American sourced mechanicals which should be good for obtaining parts at reasonable cost compared to being beholden by a European make's prices.

    • @DiandSam
      @DiandSam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your feedback, we have very little knowledge of buses and so are always naturally second guessing ourselves. But are confident we made a good call - so it's helpful to hear experts weigh in and assure us of that! The bus did really well on the road, easily going 100km/h, of course not much weight on her atm!
      Not sure what a splitter is, I'll have to ask Sam that one!

    • @jamesfrench7299
      @jamesfrench7299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diane, it's basically a button you push for high and low range which effectively gives you double the ratios, either via an auxiliary gearbox or a two speed axle. I don't think this bus likely has one, but Sam will certainly know by now!
      I used to be a bus driver for the STA in Sydney around the era this bus would have been built and the old Mercedes Benz buses from the 1980s were beautiful and easy to drive with their 3 speed automatic gearboxes, they topped out at 80km/h or a bit less in some cases!
      They were geared for urban work whereas your bus is clearly geared for a mix of town and intertown open road conditions at higher speeds.
      Sam coped really well with collecting it.

    Do you need a bus licence to drive that bus or regular car licence?

    • @DiandSam
      @DiandSam  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Sam had to get his Medium Rigid license. Which is all he needs for a 12.5 meter bus on 2 axles

  • @ivecamperbuild_thomas4084
    @ivecamperbuild_thomas4084 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So can you just drive a bus with a car licence in Australia ,or do you need a C1 or HGV licence

    • @DiandSam
      @DiandSam  10 หลายเดือนก่อน
