  • In this episode of the Wandering Walker’s you will see an updated walkthrough of where we are up to with the bus. Get a really good feel for our layout and finishes. We also discuss our engineering which we now have completed and have the tick of approval. The bus is also now an offical ‘Walker’ as it got its logo and sign writing done. She looks a million bucks. Be sure to check out our other episodes and hit us up in the comments if you have any questions!!

    It's so cool seeing a full size bus convert on our side of the world. All the other content out there I've seen is always in the EU or US.

      Probably because Ostrayer is filled with arduous rules for it's own sake.

    Hi guys love the video! The old MAN (many alterations needed) was Gold bus No3, later to become 603. I drove this vehicle for approximately 6 years for the company. Not many drivers liked to drive her but I always had a soft spot for her. In all the time I used her she never let me down, but if someone else got behind the wheel she would act up! She did a lot of jobs in her early days then ended up mainly doing the Ross Creek school run . She was eventually pensioned off down the coast where I thought she'd rust away. I'm so glad that you have looked after her and given her a new life. Look forward to hearing from you on your travels, stay in touch Syd. PS don't push it into reverse too hard as it sometimes jumps the gear linkages.

      Oh wow! This is so nice to read. She has been a dream to drive so far. 🥰🥰
      Nice to know she comes from somewhere so close to home.
      Any ideas where to get a towball for her?? 🤣🤣

      @@WanderingWalkers Checked with our head mechanic about the tow ball , sorry no luck . He thinks you may have to get one engineered. Just watched the aircon show being removed (lol) The reason for all the glue on roof was that the unit was notorious for leaking into the air-conditioning ducts. So everytime you stood on the brakes the driver got a shower. I think doing what you have done will make it better though . The door that you have up front is one of the best types made and to fix the problem getting it opening and closing easier is to put the switch on the left side of the console as all or new buses do (happy wife happy life). Keep in touch Syd.

    Great build guys and you have done a lot of hard work and soon you will be on the road. As for the batteries and inverter. Have a good look at Victron. They make serveral capacity inverter/chargers, some are 12 volt while they do also make 24 Volt or even 48 volt models that will also charge up your house batteries when you plug into mains power ( auto switching ). Not cheap, but they just work !! Have you made provisions for solar to recharge your house batteries batteries when the sun is out. If you go for a 24 volt system you could also use the auternator for charging your house batteries while driving. I helped out with the desighn of a few house boats and the electronics in the day ( 10 years ago ) These setups had 8 and even 10 x 220 Amp hour batteries for the inverter as well as a bit of 12 volts for navigation lighting and internal lighting. This was also set up to run indepenantant of the batteries for the starting batteries, but did have a VSR ( voltage sence relay ) between the main batteries and the house batteries.
    Good luck in the near future.

    Thanks for the walkthrough, look forward to seeing the final build. What's the model, looks a bit like ours (1996 Hino). Can I suggest that the openings for the kids bunks be rounded so that they don't hurt themselves on the corners, they're dangerous, we've caught our legs on our bed base corners, not pretty. All the best. :)

    Well done guys its looking amazing! We're currently converting our own bus which is similar to yours so its been great seeing what you guys are doing to give us some ideas! :)
    Where did you get your sign writing and black out if you don't mind my asking? It looks fantastic!
    Di and Sam

    • @WanderingWalkers
      @WanderingWalkers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey legends! We got the sign writing done at Signarama in Ballarat. The black out is just the same material as our sign writing. Some people choose to paint the inside of the window black. But… after renovating a house for many years is said NO DEAL to painting ANYTHING in the bus. 🤣🤣🤣

    • @WanderingWalkers
      @WanderingWalkers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeh. We wanted it to be a little bit quicker but pretty happy with how long it took overall. We leave on the 6th so essentially it’s taken 3 months, 3 weeks. Crazy!!

    Hi, did u get an engineer inspection before u began ur conversion, or during, or after? Thanx in advance 😊

    • @WanderingWalkers
      @WanderingWalkers  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We only got our inspection done once we were ready for it to be converted. Josh did a lot of research and reading about requirements and specs before beginning the conversion so we knew all the legalities before embarking on the journey. I hope this helps with your build. :)

    Hi, did your door pass inspection?

    • @WanderingWalkers
      @WanderingWalkers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey!! Yeh, it did. Sorry it took so long to reply. Like we said though, we had an AWESOME engineer. He was willing to work with us. Not all engineers will pass them. I think the way we got through though was if you turn the air off which you can do from inside the bus you can push the door open easily if ever an emergency.
