In the minor 251 progression u have a c# in the min6 chord. But the key of Emin has just the f# in its key signature. It’s confusing to me.
Yes, minor scales are a little more complex, the C# is from the Dorian minor or jazz melodic minor scale and is the most common in this context, here’s a video I did about minor scales which will explain more: th-cam.com/video/o7yCgrvIJ9M/w-d-xo.html
@@OnlineSaxAcademythanks! I will check it out! 😊
Great video but how do you tell what cord is the one???
Do you mean within the context of a ii V I progression?
Yes with the video but also with any song how do you know what is the one cord
I have heard to turn once look up at moon and listen
Ya stupid but never a good answer just guess and play the scale You might want to look into that for a video
Tom
It’s tricky, there can be an overall key of tune, for that, usually the key signature can help a lot. But within many jazz tunes there will be more local modulations to other keys. If you’re familiar with the chords that can be built from a major scale this can go a long way in understanding the harmonic progressions. It’s not the whole answer, but I would start there.
