I used to cut grass at the house of a vietnam vet and he told me a story about a single shot noob tube grenade launcher. He said he was inside a small bunker that started taking round from the jungle. He went outside with his launcher and a pouch with like 75 rounds in it. He said it was like time slowed down from the adrenaline and he thought he only launched about ten rounds in the direction they thought the shots were from. He said when he got back inside the bunker and checked the pouch it was completely empty. You could still see the fear in his eyes as he told me the story. The eerie nature of jungle warfare was the perfect setting for this movie.
About Panama - I wasn't there personally but in the mid 90's I went to rent Predator from a Blockbuster Video when it was in it's hay day (I'm about 15 years older than you). I had never seen it before because I was too young and my parents wouldn't let me. Anyway I get up to the counter with the movie an there's a dude there, maybe mid to late 20's and starts talking about how he trained and deployed with an M16 like they had in the movie when he was in the Marines. I asked him about his service and he said he took part in the invasion and absolutely hated it because of the climate. Anyways he said he and his unit/squad would constantly makes references and jokes about the movie because it was huge at the time and there was no better setting for it (especially the "get to tha choppa!" line). Maybe not the best/funniest story but, if he is to be believed, what you're describing definitely happened. As an aside, he also said they came across a warehouse that had one of those older DOS computers in it, used for shipping or inventory or something. The place was deserted and he thought it would be "fun" to shoot one of them so he did. Well somehow the owner found out about it, went to the Americans and complained, and the dude had to end up paying to replace the system out of his paycheck or face punishment lol. Every time I would go in there and he'd be working I'd call him "Panama". He got a kick out of that.
Wow. Thank you for telling someone else's secondhand story about military service. So relevant. Saddest part? A soon to be jobless veteran working at a video store pre-GWOT.

Fun fact, the events of Predator take place in the fictional country of Val Verde in 1987. The Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Commando also takes place in Val Verde but in the year 1985. In Commando, Arius is the former dictator of Val Verde that John Matrix helped removed from power. At the end of Commando, John kills Arius and destroys his compound. This means that the guerillas that Dutch and his team fight could be the remnants of Arius' men who survived the events of Commando and retreated into the jungles of Val Verde and began planning the Soviet-backed invasion that Dillion was sent to stop. Or this is just my autistic head canon and it makes no sense at all...

One of our guides knew from from back in the day and said he was a badass, who was taking a break from his badassery, and thought we were entertaining to watch stumble around almost getting eaten every few hours or so. I can explain the thermals, black/white vs color scale. I worked at NASA for 2-3 years doing IR measurements using FLIR cameras. The difference in camera signature is due to an IR camera being strictly an infrared camera (gray scale) vs a thermographic camera (color scale). The gray scale image lacks the ability to provide a temperature because it is not calibrated. It can, however, provide a higher signal to report an image as "hot" or "cold", providing greater dynamic range at the expense greater noise in the data. Temperature-calibrated cameras (color scale) are excellent for data capture but are limited to a preset range (-40 to 300F, for example) and therefore are limiting themselves with how much radiation can excite the camera sensor. I'm leaving out a lot of details to make this short, but I hope you learned something.

Predator and terminator 2 were my favorite movies growing up. I used to watch terminator 2 every day as a 5 and 6 year old kid, great video and awesome humor!
It still amazes me how much characterization was established during the dialog in this movie. Really goes to show how good writing will make or break a movie before the first camera is ever turned on.
I love critical drinkers' review of this movie, thanks for doing this admin. One of the best movies ever made. 85' - 95' would have been an amazing time to live through.

The rescue team in Afghanistan part feels like trolling Rambo 3 😄
I saw this several times as a kid. And I have to thank you for bring to light the 500 under the R. I always wondered how that was done.
Fun Fact: both Predator and Commando take place in the fictional country of Val Verde. General Esperanza in Die Hard 2 is also from Val Verde.
The more you know. Thank you for that.
@@Bunk_off IKR right. I love all three movies so it’s a useless bit of info I keep!
Aliens 1986 next please!! I really enjoyed this!
Soul Brotha too Buku!!!!
Damn str8
30 seconds in and I have to say, masterfully done Sir!
One of my favourite films, but for some reason, it's not made it onto my film sleeve tattoo 🤔
Predator and terminator 2 were my favorite movies growing up. I used to watch terminator 2 every day as a 5 and 6 year old kid, great video and awesome humor!
Predator 2 Is highly underrated as both a sci-fi horror film and an alternate history film.
Word.
It still amazes me how much characterization was established during the dialog in this movie. Really goes to show how good writing will make or break a movie before the first camera is ever turned on.
when Red Dawn (1980's version)??
I love critical drinkers' review of this movie, thanks for doing this admin. One of the best movies ever made. 85' - 95' would have been an amazing time to live through.
Surprised you didn't mention that the film's insurance company worried for the safety of the cast with Sonny Landham (Billy) around. They hired a bodyguard specifically to protect the cast from Sonny. He was a savage in several ways lol
wait really, wtf thats crazy
1996! You were three years old when I joined the Army. Dammit, I'm old.
You have to do Predators movie load out with Adrien Brody aa12
He made a reference to it during his USAS-12 video
Damn, I'm old. Remember that movie from my teens
PREDATOR VIDEO?? YOOOO!
My top5 movie, even wachting it for ~35years I can still be excited about it.
I thoroughly enjoy predator 2 as well if not more
I watched this movie in the theatre as a kid. I have seen it numerous times since. The attack on the compound with the sound of the heli starting up left a kick ass core memory.
I'd quite frankly pay for watching the kind of alien vs predator fights you mentioned...
Brilliant job Admin... keep droppin those little drops of truth.. we are listening!
This movie made want an M16A1 - sorry SP1 - with Grenade Launcher. Tried to recreate it in airsoft but no avail.
There was some avail.
Still one of my favorite films. I quote it is constantly. Another great overview Admin.
Dude, predator 2, for all its flaws, shits all over "prey".
Also, Predator (the first one) along with Die Hard, are in my Top 5 Action movies of all time.
facts, i fell in love with predator 2 when those gang members got absolutely merked inside that one skyscraper type building 😂
Gotta give it up to your editor for these videos. These type of videos could be very bland/boring but he does a really good job making these videos fun to watch. The cut aways and graphics put up make it fun to follow along with and makes me laugh. Hats off to you sir!
DEN OF THIEVES
Please Admin, make a review on Den of Thieves
YES!!!!!
As a fellow movie nerd I thank you for these breakdowns
Wtf!? Admin is younger than I?? Thats not fair....
Your dives are most always better than good admin.... your ramble stays close to relevant and the few times you skew a little it's cool. You have some interesting viewpoints and this is a great way to work them to the front of the bus without pissing off the watch dogs!! lmao Appreciate you and the channel.. Thanks!
The real predators are the ATF
Try the U.S. government.
Keep doing these movie break downs, they're a lot of fun. Cheers!
"Alien vs. Predator" sounds like a pitch meeting at the DNC on which voters to appeal to.
Love your movie breakdowns, nice mix of armament knowledge & humor keeps me riveted. Keep up the great work Admin.
Loving these movie reviews sicario, blood diamond, and now predator! Keep them coming.
Thanks for covering one of my favorite movies. I love the spin you put on 'em.
