I don't vape or smoke but that's all I want in this world lol. PS it felt like battlefield 5 wasn't its peak state right after the Pacific launch and then they hit that massive weapon rebalance that just killed it for me entirely
Every studio does this these days. Set a ridiculously short timeline, release an unfinished game, then hope the fans stick around long enough to fix it. Battlefield has been guilty of it for a long time and, lucky for DICE, they usually do a good job of fixing things relatively quickly.
V was my final straw pre ordered and walked away from the franchise after playing every release since bad company. I play Enlisted now, much better. Only hardcore… BFV without hardcore was lame.
I remember saying when BFV got revealed that people want an authentic WWII experience, not necessarily a 100% realistic one. The marketing that DICE was pushing pretty much flew in the face of authenticity
@AdministrativeResults What're the odds!? For weeks, I've been obsessed with early concept art for BFV, made by old concept artists/art design guys who left (or got fired from) the studio around that time (including a LOT of other old DICE vets), and it looked like BF1 set in WW2; superbly badass *accurate* splinter camo smocks for German recon class, accurate SS uniforms just no bolts or windmill symbol, badass BoB esque paratrooper skins including an Indian Apache makeup/mohawk player paratrooper, you got art for Army Rangers scaling the cliffs at Point Du Hoc with grappling hooks, German Falschirmjäger lush red forests somewhere in Eastern Europe, pilot and tanker class concepts looked SICK, it's such a shame. Could've literally been one of the greatest FPS' of all time and possibly the best WW2/historical shooter ever.
@@AdministrativeResultsSeems like a lot of media will jump on bandwagons of other popular media. After Iron Man and the success of Marvel, the snarky superhero was everywhere. John Wick, you have super tacticool long fights (still awesome). I think Battlefield 5 was trying to put a little Fortnite, hot in the news, in the game. Quirky shit, purple hair, cybernetic arm, etc.
@@AdministrativeResults You'll get katana wielding overweight black Scottish trans face tattooed soldiers with MP40s that have ACOGs, and be happy with it. Or take the advice of DICE's creative lead and just not buy the game so they can *surprise Pikachu face* when the sales suck.
18:05 The Norwegian heavy water sabotage (background for "nordlys") was done by Norwegian comandos trained in the UK. The British soldiers they sent first, all got killed or captured out right. The Norwegians did the sabotage without casualties.
@BananaRaid not only that, one of them had to do a mission impossible skiing firefight to get away... or at least I've always heard that, I haven't actually confirmed it, lol
You're absolutely correct about the "females in combat rolls" issue. Female PT standards for the Army when I was in from 2008-2014 were a lot lower than the males of the same age. I heard they moved away from that with the new pt testing. Having one standard across the board. But found that the majority of females couldn't do the leg tucks. I believe the army moved back to the gendered standards after they saw that females couldn't pass the new test. Which is wrong if women are allowed in combat MOS's, then the standards must be the same. Period. Also, during my time in.. most of the females that I encountered were either pregnant or on profile and were nondeployable. The worst was that so many couldn't pass PT, yet they would still get promoted instead of being booted out. The guys would get counseled and were passed up for promotion if they failed PT... if it continued, then they were kicked out. But in war-time... this crap will get people 💀... 🤡💩
If the standards are the same you can trust the competency of the soldiers you are with. If not, you will never trust the ones who are not held to the same standards. This will increase negative stereotypes of those people and actually hurts them, not to mention potentially getting them or those in their squad killed.
IIRC, there was also a study done by the Marines in which they found women suffered a higher rate of injury while moving with combat loads; it's not just a PT issue, their bodies are literally more fragile, so where a man might roll or sprain an ankle while moving with 60+ lbs of gear, a woman has a much higher chance of breaking an ankle.
I really appreciate the talk about ESG. Not enough people are aware of it's existence. There are also more related things like DEI, Bridge, and Sweet Baby that are just as, if not more nefarious than ESG. some of them straight up talk about indoctrinating the masses into thinking a certain way, and they're very open about it. It's honestly kind of terrifying when you look into it.
I personally would loved to have seen a battlefield game set in the Korean War. There’s a lot of cool weapons and vehicles that barely missed WW2 but saw use in the early Cold War era.
I want to see the Korean War too, but it has to be done well. Btw, a channel here on TH-cam, World War Two, is going to be starting a channel about the history of the Korean War! Should be good
i honestly thought they were going to do Korea when this was announced and was super stoked. Especially since Bad company 2 Vietnam and the OG Vietnam games went so hard, and the idea of blasting that happy 1950s music on a tank just felt like so much fun. A few others theorized it would be too from some BF1 easter eggs hinting the release. Imagine my disappointment when the trailer for V got released. I pretty much just booted up an empty server in BC2 Vietnam afterward and shot bamboo to sulk XD
@jcs8568 only Korean war games I've scene are either mods or strategy games which are dope but a first person shooter during the Korean War would be a hit
still the best BF imo. the fact brainlets would rather run around doing nothing on giant conquest maps VS nailbiting objective based Rush mode is crazy to me. luckily the FInals feels a lot like rush now with the cashout/steal mechanic, since i think it has some of the same devs
@skinnyweeny2178 Everything is inconsequential in conquest, when you use smoke and push through all the explosions and gunfire in rush and capture the point it's epic. What happens in conquest, you kill one lone person take the point and then some arbitrary number goes up slightly faster, then a tank rolls in and kills you, repeat.
this was revealed right as i was in my last quarter of game dev college in seattle. it started getting bad in 2016 there, but we even had teachers trying to gaslight us about this game, saying "the only reason people don't like it is cause they're sexist"
@@KK20191Obnoxious every WW2 game now is about some female resistance fighter super corny and over done to the point that I want a game about a die hard Nazi masculine man who exposes the atrocities of the Allies Look up Devils Brigade if you think Allies did nothing wrong
@@KK20191 nope... thats just not what happened... and you were either gas lit by these same people or are willingly perpetuating this narrative. people were mad that a UE amputee (who would not be eligible for front line duty AND who just so happened to be a woman) was being depicted as a 1 man army and being in a role that women were not typically part of in ww2, they were annoyed that a British solider who would have been fighting entirely in Europe had a imperial Japanese officers saber. People were already sort of disappointed in the inaccuracies of BF1 (too many automatics, re writing of events, over representation), and even though they weren't as glaring as Vs, these inaccuracies weren't pushed to the forefront before it was even released.
One thing I haven't seen someone say, and this is my opinion on the subject, is that I feel that ignoring the contributions of the women who did actually fight in favor making something up is even more disrespectful. Basically it says "sorry but I don't think your actual effort, and sacrifice is good enough for my daughter so I'm just gonna go make some shit up." It's especially a let down to me because there were so many historic tid-bits that I learned from BF1 that not only kept me engaged with the game but also led me down many youtube binges about WWI stuff. All which would culminate in visiting the National WWI Memorial in Kansas City, MO. last year. That and Sabaton having back to back WWI albums helped fuel my interest.
I think he made that point that they should have included women in the roles that they actually were in during WW2 and recognized the importance of those roles. Front line fighting roles are not necessarily the most important roles. Without women in the roles they took, the outcome of the war could have been much different. To diminish the importance of those roles is to diminish the people who served in them.
I will agree that narratives like the bullshit they fabricated for the Norwegian Heavy Water sabotage, since all it does is ignore the actual impact women had. The saddest part was the developers tried to backtrack and claim the game was set in a 'fictional' version of WWII. Such a concept isn't bad, it's how other WWII fictional media is able to exist like Saving Private Ryan, but the difference is other fictions were advertised to at least be authentic experiences. They could have easily played into this fictional alternate reality much more and been fine. An audience adequately prepared to see stuff like female soldiers in a conflict that was set during the early 20th century would be able to suspend their disbelief for it. WWII is largely attributed as being a 'death war' where many nations fought to the last and even continued to resist. AR wasn't totally correct when he said that it was only the USSR that put women in combat roles, but the other nations like Germany that did were also nations that were basically pushed to the brink. A alternate WWII where the situation is so desperate that women get put on the frontlines just to fill combat exhausted combat units would be perfectly palpable had that been the intention. It wasn't, though, with the inclusion just being to show some story of a mother and her daughter having issues and resolving them while fighting Nazis.
@@FlakeTillmanHe mentioned the ones who were involved such as the Soviet snipers. resistance fighters, and in espionage. One he didn't mention was the Soviet Air Force 588 sqdrn, which was all female. These could have served as fun foundations for their own missions but the devs decided to do the lazy thing, and re-write known instances instead. IIRC the top Soviet sniper was actually a woman, and since east front sniper missions are a given for a WWII game, then I would have loved playing missions based on her experience than another re-hash of Stalingrad. Hell why not some resistance missions set in occupied countries? BF1 showed that the team could actually put some work into digging through history to shine a light on things people might have never heard of, and use them to build a fun, sort of historic fiction. BFV was more like a bad fan-fic from tumblr.
@@airplanenut89 Don't forget the 1077th Anti-Aircraft Regiment that held the line in the Stalingrad Military district, keeping the Nazis from crossing the Volga river. They were made up of Soviet volunteer women who had just completed their highschool level educations. Nazis were even shocked that such a unit put up a ferocious fight. So even if a developer didn't want to go the Soviet Sniper route, that'd give an option for the player seeing some of the most brutal fighting of the war from a woman's perspective.
The thing i appreciate the most about BF5 is the British-German part of the war. Many games and media especially nowadays just ignore it for a German-American, German-USSR and Japanese -American. Britain was in the war from the start and have many battles that get ignored
If I remember correctly the Russian recon class on BF1 were female characters and that was a cool detail. The obviously had BF1 before BFV so it sucks to see them mess that up after getting it way more accurate.
@@AjackLee4It’s the colonial troops of Germany, but were only in Europe after the fall of German colonies there were only like a few thousand, maybe 10s of thousands but were very small number compared to the millions of white soldiers so it’s just a detail like the Russian female sniper which is a reference to the women’s death battalion
RisingStorm 2 Vietnam fixed the problem of what weapons were used when, at least in the campaign by only having early war weapons available and as the war/game went on you would see the m14 get replaced with the m16 and the sks turn into akms. I still believe that BFBC2 is the best BF Dice/EA has ever made
And the vietnam DLC was also the best and most fun vietnam in gaming history. Good times when wokeness didn't exist. Everything from uniforms to weapons was authentic and immersive.
I'll never forget all the little girls at boot in the female platoon back before it all became integrated, we didn't see them that much but typically when rucking or marching along somewhere they'd be doing the same off somewhere else, I swear to christ our rucksacks were bigger than a LOT of these girls' entire torsos were, and a lot of them were struggling big time-every time- with packs and M16's and God knows what else. Only good thing about it was getting to see the female DI's, a lot of them were pretty smoking hot especially with their hair all done up perfectly, asses poppin in the uniform lol, they weren't even remotely intimidating to say the least 😂 Most every male DI looked like they'd body them with one hand tied behind their back. Even despite the fact there's, a very very miniscule amount of, girls/women who could hack it at the *same exact* standards as men and actually operate in the theoretical scenarios our military trains and solely exists for, there will *always* and *forever* be a man who could outperform them, and why in gods name do want 18-24yo girls being sent in situations we don't even want our men in let alone them? The idea of 'sending our boys off to war' is bad enough, but 'sending our boys and girls off to war' is absolutely startling.
Prior service here. Some of my worst leaders and fellow airmen were females with the girl boss attitude. Made nonsensical decisions, and got mad when I really tired to do my job.
Meh. 2 of the best soldiers I worked with were women. Some of the worst I worked with were also women. I also worked with some great, and some shitty, men.
@Storming32 The military just isn't a college social experiment, it isn't some corporation with employees crunching numbers in cubicles before knocking off to go home at 4:30, there should be zero compromise here. For hundreds of years it has been universally understood with virtually everybody, the military is a man's world, it sure as hell isn't some privilege either lol, just like it isn't 'privilege' that 99% of garbage "workers" are men and same goes for just about any physically grueling-shitty-work. Admittedly there's some MOS' women could be perfectly fine in, "Water purification specialist," nurses, doctors, logistics, but anything involving combat-on the ground/sea/or air-and leadership, should be an inherent no-go.
Oh yeah, I forgot about BF Vietnam. I enjoyed that one and BF1942 (with desert combat too). I never really got back into BF until BF5. Although, I mostly only played the Pacific mulitplayer, though.
Easiest "fix" to women in BFV; Add the Soviet Union. Add the Soviet Night Witches Po-2 as their light bomber with female pilots and Female medic class, and maybe one for the Tank class and boom, historically accurate, AND women are in the game too, so both sides get what they want, But that would make sense so of course Dice wouldn't dare think of it.
Even they were exceptions though. EXCEPTIONS DONT NEED REPRESENTATION. Just because muh couple of women fought for this one niche group doesn't mean they need to make an appearance. It flies in the face of reality
@@lokikinch TBH as a woman, I do not want this compromise of wokeness. I'd rather have no women in a game than to have unrealistic woke women in a game. Sam Hyde talked about that like a month or two before the one female cop accidentally drew her gun instead of her tazer and shot some dude. Prophetic, really.
It was dices reaction after people reacted negatively to the trailer that sealed it's fate for me. Called everyone racist and sexist and said they don't want "us" buying their game anyway and if you don't like it don't buy it. So I didn't.
Trailer was very devastating but i still gave it at chance form of beta. Well if trailer itself was not bad enough gameplay and new mechanics really made it clear this is not going to be my game. Really hated that very limited ammo capacity what normal assault can carry. Bolt-actions were nerfed from bf1 and we went back to headshot only kill. And tanks were literally shooting blanks and throwing tennisballs to each other. 2 hours was enough and gave up and still being bit pissed about how it was possible to ruin overally most iconic war period. Bf 2042 would have been better but they really overworked to squeese every possible bug and unwanted technical problem to that game. i was having so much of fun times since bad company 2 and bf3. Played bf2 quite lot but never got good at it. Skipped bf4 and rebooted series with bf 1(ww1) Now im sad to see this franchise to slipping dow to drainpipe when two games in a row have been pretty much shit. Not exacly having high hopes to see actually good new BF game if they really cant focus on things what gamers actually wanted.
Same saw it during the reveal, i think they had Trevor Noah pushing it that day. Saw the trailer, have not touched the game once. Promised myself never to reward that kind of trash.
If you want a more "accurate" WW2 shooter that's still "casual" with combined arms try Enlisted. They take some liberties for balance reasons but its pretty spot on. Also it uses the vehicle system from War Thunder.
To add to the Soviet female snipers, a great addition to a battlefield game would have been the Night Witches. They flew antiquated crop dusters on bombing missions. They would turn off their engines and glide in so that the only sound they made on approach was the rustling of their canvas wings. The Germans compared this sound to a witch's cloak rustling as she's flying along on her broom, giving them their name. Super dangerous missions, completely dilapidated equipment, insanely brave women, perfect obscure vehicle mission for a WWII battlefield game. Documented personally and perfectly in "A Dance With Death" by Anne Noggle, a US WWII woman pilot. Also, how about the Soviet women drafted into homeland defense? My great grandmother was a "zenitchitsya, " or member of an AA gun team in her local guard. From the stories I was told when i was little, great-gran put in some serious work. Imagine that mission. It's possible to be inclusive without pandering, they just aren't trying.

I was wishing for Sino-Japanese War to be added at least, AKA where WW2 really started. There are very few games about this part of WW2. In addition, I wish they added wars that happen alongside WW2, like the Winter War, Soviet-Japan border conflicts like Khalkin Gol and Lake Khasan, and Ecuador-Peru War.
I don’t think the whole “women in bf5” thing would’ve even mattered if the game itself turned out to be amazing. No Eastern Front or more famous battles like Normandy were really what sealed the deal.

I’ve been enjoying the WW1 series games. Verdun, tannenburg, and especially Isonzo, you can tell they respect history greatly and know how to balance fun and realism. It’s not exactly a battlefield experience but running through the alps with a carcano or a Bodeo revolver is a lot of fun.
I like these games, but I think they do struggle to balance fun and accuracy sometimes. I think for the most part, people (myself included) prefer BF1 because it managed to balance respecting the history with having fun arcade shooter gameplay.
@@ExtantPerson Respect history? BF1 was utter shit in every metric except for graphics. I can only assume you were either young or ignorant of history to enjoy that. Games like Red Orchestra and Rising Storm struck a really good balance between realism and casual fun.
@@fridrekr7510 Not true, at all. BF1 took plenty of creative liberties, but none that disrespected the war or those who fought in it like BFV did. At the very start of the game, it explicitly pays its respects to those who died and tells the player of the harsh reality of a soldier fighting. The end credits do this, too. The codex’s entire existence is to educate players on the actual history, and even points out where BF1 took some liberties (many of which were necessary to maintain fun gameplay). BF1 didn’t disrespect WW1 veterans or paint the war as some sort of silly fun time. BFV did. Don’t mix them up
Bad Company 2 and 1943 were my first battlefield games, still my favorites, RIP the multiplayer servers, I still played on them. My dream gun all my life has been an XM8, hope one day I can get one of those TommyBuilt XM8 conversions.
A few months before they abandoned BFV it was showing so much promise, iwo jima was a fantastic map, and the guns and balance felt great. Then Dice with all their incompetence decided to mess with the TTK again, which already went poorly last time they did it to attract casuals before a busy sale season, then abandoned the game with that TTK in place. Also I really liked the fortification/building system, and I'm sad that its probably never going to come back because of how badly Dice bungled the game.

They projected that we didn't like women in video games... There's so much media they ignored to reach that conclusion. Including Call of Duty and Medal of Honor that both started out by incorporating women in an honest portrayal. (Medal of Honor: Underground; Call of Duty: Finest Hour if you want to test my position). No... We didn't like how disingenuous they were being with regards to women. Its one thing to say that Grandma Enid was a field medic for some obscure, unheard of unit, who worked 12 plus hour days trying to render triage and aid to wounded men while the doctors tried to save the lives of the most urgent cases. That's heroic in its own form. That's a hero. They suffered aerial raids and artillery, American Female Medics killed were just over 200, because the field hospitals they worked were so close to the frontlines. Its another to say that Grandma Enid was a Tier One Operator who slayed the Hun like she was a Navy SEAL CAG Delta Force Operator Sniper Saboteur Airborne SAS who specialized in Underwater CQB Demolition. That's disingenuous, deceptive and absolutely a lie. Its THE WORST, if they take true stories and reinvent them to diminish the contributions and efforts of the REAL people who did it, to push a political narrative. Nordlys took the 12 Norwegian Saboteurs responsible for halting German Heavy Water Production, and reinvented the story to be a one woman army who did everything while killing ALL the Germans ever. The real story was such a success that the Germans had no idea it happened till well after the Saboteurs had managed to slink away and the damage was permanently done. The only unfortunate individual was the late night shift worker who was happened upon by the Saboteurs and subsequently held up till they accomplished their mission, then allowed to leave. There were no casualties, no violent evacuation, no explosive entry... A stealth mission as it was intended, and successful at that.
Suits have figured out that people will buy the game regardless and it’s another reason preorders are a huge problem. Not to mention the people funding these companies and their agendas.
My batt. was one of the last in the army to make the switch from all male. We had 6 females assigned to our supply company on the lead up to deployment. 4 of them came down with cases of unplanned pregnancy right before we left. It's hard being a lady warrior. Pregnancy can strike anywhere, anytime.
I listen to a guy who says the same thing you have outlined. The quote he likes is "it became more profitable to check esg boxes than to make games for our audience"
An outstanding example of this was Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Funny how it was also the very first Borderlands game with a Teen rating instead of Mature Audience.
@@r0br33r It was part of an entire franchise called Borderlands that has been releasing games since 2009. I've been playing them since probably 2011, they were great games until Tiny Tina. Policing in my country has become a nightmare because of DEI. Our police force has virtually no standards anymore. To become a police officer, you had to be at least 170 cm tall, which was already a joke, and now even this low requirement has been abolished. Now we have policewomen with a physique like a hobbit. They look like children who have been dressed in a uniform and handed a Glock. If you call the police in my country, chances are you'll have to protect them.
Just a thought - if they had marketed it as “based on real events”, in the style of so many movies these days that have only a vague passing resemblance to the original topic, then all of the historical inaccuracies(guns in the wrong place, women in combat roles) would have been fine, imo
The thing I hated the most about bf5 was the lack of eastern front maps like Stalingrad, Kursk and Leningrad because this was the real decider of the war and the storymode felt very lackluster compared to BF1
Man it took me a full 10 seconds to figure out what I was looking at between the thumbnail and channel, kept thinking it was some new channel I haven't seen before. Really like the idea of delving into more non-gun or tangentially gun-related topics once in awhile.

I always see it pop up on sale, but never pull the trigger on it. Seems so late in it's life cycle that meta is established and a new player would be crushed.
BFV had so much potential but I learned to love it over time. I really liked the uniforms and camos. Also in campaign there is weird interesting thing going on with the Wehrmacht troop uniforms. Seemingly showing rare uniforms/patterns that aren’t accessible in multiplayer. Even when you play on the allied side when exiting the plane you see other npcs rocking rare uniform patterns
This is the kind of "culture war" content we need more of imo. Media consumption is greater than ever and talking about ESG and DEI is important to help the next gwn understand why things are the way they are
Speaking of the eastern front, I bought Dan Carlin's hard-core history series on the Osrfront the last time you mentioned it and it was fucking fantastic. Highly recommend for anyone interested.
Pretty much the entire Hardcore History series is gold. His WW1 series might be my favorite. Ghosts of the Ostfront is right up there though for sure! Very different way of telling the events. Makes it more impactful and grounded in reality rather than some abstracted thing that might as well have been a movie or a book.
I am a life long Battlefield fan. I have played it since OG 1942 on PC. I 100% agree with you. Also I want a modern BF 2142. I miss going around crushing stuff with battlewalkers. And BF4 final stand absolutely trashed the hover tank even though BF4 has the most well refined multiplayer IMO.

Notice how we were so desensitized to all of this by the time CoD Vanguard came around and hardly anyone commented on the fact that 9 out of the 21 operators in a WW2 game were women. With 5 white men. There were more women in the WW2 game than white men.
11:09 as a fan of WW2 history, I actually hate that, particularly with the uniforms, because the vast majority of them aren’t even close to WW2 uniforms. Gas masks, trench coats, undershirts… heck, the Americans don’t even have a decent European theatre uniform, with the closest being a mix of GI and Yankee, both of which have the wrong colors for the torso.
It would be really fun to see a group of guntubers play one of the more realistic teamwork shooters like Squad or Arma. I bet Karmakut or Moidawg would be happy to organize an event.
Matt from Demo Ranch's brother plays a lot of those types of games. His name is OperatorDrewski. He occasionally plays with people like Donut Operator, EliDoubeTap, and more.
In my opinion it would have been way cooler if they actually looked at some of the few times in WW2 there were actual accounts of women fighting in the war. Here's a few examples just pulled from Wiki - There's history of Women in Poland fighting in the guerilla war against the Russian and German occupations. - Jewish Women fought in the Warsaw Ghettos Uprising - The Russians had women integrated in their armies, mainly for AA batteries and Medics but those could make cool missions - Romania had the White Squadron which were a all Women squadron flying transport planes supplying the front line and even flew missions to Stalingrad and Odessa. I feel it was a real shame that BF5 could have taken any of these very real scenes and made an awesome mission. Hell I think it would have been both a terrifying and epic mission if you played a Polish Jewish Woman actively just fighting desperately against the nazis. That's just my thoughts though.
Is it just me or were the graphics, environments, and atmosphere of battlefield V and battlefield 1 way better than battlefield 2042 and newer fps games?
24:43 Reacher is an excellent show. I’m watching the S1 finale tonight for the second time, as I haven’t watched season two yet 🤌 very well written show.
Quick heads-up, season 2 is good but not as good as season 1. They kinda overextended themselves with the large extended cast, and the finale was a bit anticlimactic imo. Still good tv tho.
@@flaneur1917 Damn, I believe that. They did a pretty stellar job with season one all around, so it’s hard to top that. I like the way the plot is starting though, but that’s kind of a bummer that the finale is a letdown. Thanks for the heads up
You liked it? It felt extremely cringe, inaccurate, bad portrayals, shitty stereotypes and tropes done poorly. The scene where Jack puts on camo face paint and clothing before facing off against the bad guys in the villa was damn near vomit inducing. Show COULD have been interesting but was just very poorly executed.
Very good point. They could have saved this game with better game modes, having different levels of realism and historical accuracy. Or if that was too complicated, they could have just made it more like difficulty levels. The more realistic and historically accurate, the higher the difficulty. This would emphasize that the less historically accurate levels were more just for fun (ex. rare guns with optics, female characters, and health regeneration, etc).
Why I disliked BF5: They didnt even have an M1 Garand in the game for an entire year. Classic guns such as the Thompson were locked to the very last level of that kit. The default option for the axis sniper was a japanese woman which completely made no sense fighting in europe. If 25% of my online lobby was running a female, all I am hearing is women screaming out in pain. Over time it really does not set the correct tone for a historic WW2 battle. It takes me out of the immersion, instead of sinking me in to it, and with all the gruesome takedown animations I was constantly stabbing women to death which felt really messed up for the setting like I was committing a war crime. I wasn't seeing anything in game that made me feel like it was WW2. We were dying for what COD2 did, only with a modern battlefield with the frostbite engine. Instead what it felt was a WW1 1.5 version. Every weapon, map, character was largely unrecognizable as a somewhat common WW2 thing. Even the units were generic and it did not say anything other than allies, some were british some not, it didnt feel like we had a cohesive military that you understand, it felt like a bunch of WW2 mercenaries. I loved that I could customize my character which is sorely lacking from battlefield and we haven't been able to do that since BF Vietnam. But they need to all make sense for the time period, otherwise what is the point? Just make it a modern shooter if you aren't going to do it properly. Its a shame because the gameplay is still there even in 2042, but they keep refusing to listen to the fans. I don't want overwatch style characters. I want kits that the only distinction is the singular piece of equipment that defines the kit, then the rest I want any gun and gadget. But they screwed that up a year later into 2042 reverting all the character based stuff into kits and locking off the vast majority of all gear to only certain characters. Complete moronic choice and I stopped playing it since. Battlebit does it better.
The mechanics and UI of BFV were superb, the guns and vehicles feel satisfying to use, and the atmosphere (albeit not as perfectly crafted as BF1's) made it feel gritty enough and fun to be immersed in. It's a shame that DICE took their initial route in addition to releasing the game unpolished and unfinished (as is tradition now), because overall BFV is an amazing title in retrospect. What's more of a shame is all the theaters of this conflict that were cut, like the Normandy campaign, eastern front and battle of Berlin to name a few.
@@thatgreenslime9517 what? Movement in BF1 is way more sluggish, not as flexible. Gun play is definitely worse due to bullet deviation, and the suppression mechanics. Vehicles are way more powerful. So are class gadgets. Even the weapons. You can't go one game without some guy spamming a 100 service star hellriegel, or smg 08/18. Plus more other minor things. BF1 is a great game, but mostly because of the setting and atmosphere. It is not breaking any records in actual gameplay.
I played BF1 on PC and Xbox and BFV on Xbox, and I have to totally agree with @Hanz_Goober here. BFV movement, gunplay and overall combat were just better in almost every way compared to BF1. Not that BF1 's mechanics were bad at all - they were amazing when they came out. But compared side by side, I'll take BFV's mechanics all day. Not to mention the resupply systems, squad revive features that were just a huge QoL update to the franchise. Atmosphere though? BF1 in a heartbeat. @@thatgreenslime9517
Totally with you on how they trivialize the feats and hardships these real men that fought, sacrificed, and died for their countries, not that women haven't had a role in warfare, but they should be portrayed in the roles they were actually in, like the women snipers of the Soviets or female spies, as well as many other roles throughout history, portraying them differently takes the credit away from the actual achievements of these real women, so ultimately does a disservice to both men and women who served their countries!
18:00 The commandos were Norwegians As a Norwegian, it is infuriating that some of our most famous war heroes were replaced by girls in Batllefield 5. The worst part about this is that one of the war heroes was still around by the release of Battlefield 5. It would have been so cool if he got to see himself in a videogame. But of course DICE ruined that possibility. Just so you know, DICE is Swedish… Of course they had to take a shit on Norwegian war heroes lol Here is a Norwegian history rant. Norway has a long history of being a subject nation. Norway has been a subject nation for 508 years, from 1397 to 1814 in a union with Denmark, and then from 1814 to 1905 in a union with Sweden. As a proud Norwegian I freaking hate DICE for shitting on my favorite war heroes. F*ck woke Sweden lol
If you have a PC I would recommend Enlisted, it's a free to play WWII game with both eastern and western European fronts. I haven't played it in a while but I remember it being a good mix of realistic and arcade style gameplay.

@@Albus_Rex I'd highly recommend buying premium. If you wait around for one of their sales (usually either New Years, Christmas, or some of the big WWII dates like D-Day) they do half off sales. It makes the grind way easier. Does that sort of defeat the purpose of it being free to play? Kind of, but it's a pretty decent game once you get the essential things like engineer squads and I didn't have a problem with giving the devs like 25 bucks for a year of premium when it was on sale.
This is crazy, I was just thinking about this yesterday. I havent watched the vid yet but all they had to do was take BF1 and keep the ballistics system, most of the same HUD, but make new maps and obviously make it WW2. I have no idea how they looked at the success of BF1 and went "cool, we should make the next game that takes place only a few decades in the future completely differently"

Every studio does this these days. Set a ridiculously short timeline, release an unfinished game, then hope the fans stick around long enough to fix it. Battlefield has been guilty of it for a long time and, lucky for DICE, they usually do a good job of fixing things relatively quickly.

@@uummmnocoolnames I wonder how many of these women suffer long term back injuries for similar reasons.

Should be good
I want a pirate game that is good
I’m surprised no one has done a Korean War setting. Battlefield 1 was a hit for WW1.
i honestly thought they were going to do Korea when this was announced and was super stoked.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 is one of the many factors as to why I bought a Scar 16s
still the best BF imo. the fact brainlets would rather run around doing nothing on giant conquest maps VS nailbiting objective based Rush mode is crazy to me. luckily the FInals feels a lot like rush now with the cashout/steal mechanic, since i think it has some of the same devs
BC2 totally influenced an entire generation of gun purchases
BC2 is the GOAT
Same way BF3 was a huge reason I bought a Benelli M4.
Yeahhhhh, that sounds about right for a collage professor 😂
Because some people were mad that women were in the game
@@KK20191Obnoxious every WW2 game now is about some female resistance fighter super corny and over done to the point that I want a game about a die hard Nazi masculine man who exposes the atrocities of the Allies
Look up Devils Brigade if you think Allies did nothing wrong
Most college professors probably voted for biden on prupose so that doesnt surprise me
One thing I haven't seen someone say, and this is my opinion on the subject, is that I feel that ignoring the contributions of the women who did actually fight in favor making something up is even more disrespectful.
Getting pigeonholed into doing administrative work and critical care nursing isn’t the same thing as Fighting.

Not military, but I've heard from many friends in various branches that many young women they encounter DO NOT belong there.

@Storming32 The military just isn't a college social experiment, it isn't some corporation with employees crunching numbers in cubicles before knocking off to go home at 4:30, there should be zero compromise here.

Your face in the thumbnail summed up my feelings of the game.
In my opinion it would have been way cooler if they actually looked at some of the few times in WW2 there were actual accounts of women fighting in the war.
Here's a few examples just pulled from Wiki
- There's history of Women in Poland fighting in the guerilla war against the Russian and German occupations.
- Jewish Women fought in the Warsaw Ghettos Uprising
- The Russians had women integrated in their armies, mainly for AA batteries and Medics but those could make cool missions
- Romania had the White Squadron which were a all Women squadron flying transport planes supplying the front line and even flew missions to Stalingrad and Odessa.

ESG, DEI, WEF are definitely all good things to be educated in nowadays. All the crazy bullshit will make more sense all of a sudden
His face fits the loading screen oddly well
Very good point.
Did you play bf1?
V felt totally unplayable compared to 1. Mechanics just felt off in every way.

As a Norwegian, it is infuriating that some of our most famous war heroes were replaced by girls in Batllefield 5.
The worst part about this is that one of the war heroes was still around by the release of Battlefield 5. It would have been so cool if he got to see himself in a videogame. But of course DICE ruined that possibility.
