One of the important things to understand about Alejandro is that he doesn't work for the CIA. He works with the CIA. His actual employers are the Colombian Cartels who have CIA connections and mutual antipathy for the Mexican Cartels. He is an actual Sicario. That's why the film is titled Sicario.
I would say it's one of the most important things about the movie in general, because without that, a huge motivator for Emily Blunt's character is removed (her disdain for Brolin and Del Toro). She signed up on principle to destroy the cartels only to find out that she's being used in order to play political chess. It also adds a dose of cynical realism to be reminded that our government has done shit like this before and will continue to.
not according to the movie, they make it pretty clear that he pretends to work for anyone that will unleash him but at the end of the day takes orders from no one.
Yeah It's been a while since I've watched Sicario, and I was kinda confused in the video, I thought him being a lawyer was just a cover up. He was in cartel and Mexicans killed his family. Can someone type the full story about Alejandro? Who is he actually?
@@niroracoon2981 Alejandro was indeed a lawyer he tried fighting the Mexican Cartels using by the book through the law but got his deaf daughter and wife killed by the Mexican Cartel ( judging from the story he killed Fausto Alarcón " El Verdugo " the one who he said time to meet god and killed his family in front of him before killing him and other one is Carlos Reyes which is the main jefe ). Now Alejandro basically works for the Colombians in order to get close to The Mexican Cartels but at the same time he works with CIA to allow CIA control the aspects of the drug trade that's why Matt and the CAG team stopped the FBI officers Kate and her other FBI Agent buddy

Funny thing: they filmed Sicario here in the outskirts of Mexico City, because they did NOT want to risk filming anywhere near the US-Mexico border, SPECIALLY Ciudad Juárez.
They did film parts of the film in El Paso, near the border. You can clearly see a "Church" on top of a hill, which is famous due to a urban legend saying that a witch lives there. Also my family lives at the bottom of the hill.

My favorite exchange is right before Alejandro goes to “waterboard” the Cartel Lieutenant, he runs into his former lawyer buddy in the hallway, who tells him “I’m sorry for what happened to you.” It’s easy to assume he meant what happened with Alejandro’s family, until you see him smoke the entire cartel boss’s kids. Upon further reflection, maybe that’s what he really meant, the monster that grief turned him into. I love double meanings like that.
Wow. That was really astute. Even if it wasn't intended by the film's story staff, it's a powerful interpretation. I totally wouldn't have put that together in a million years.
Secario is a trick movie. We are meant to think it’s Kate’s story, but it’s actually Alejandro’s story all along, as seen through Kate’s eyes. Kate tells us Alejandro’s tale from the point of view of an honest cop, shocked and ultimately broken by the experience. That’s why it’s a great movie.
Part of what makes this movie clever is the fact that it’s a story about Alejandro, but told from Kate’s (Emily Blunt) perspective. It was a creative way for the narrative keep its cards close to the chest until the big reveal at the end. I watched this one recently on one of my streaming services and it quickly became one of my favorites as well.
I always understood that Alejandro is killing the family to break the cycle of vengeance. If he leaves the kids alive they will just grow up to avenge their dad, and Alejandro obviously knows the lengths that vengeance will drive people too.
I think it’s less that and more that it needs to look like a cartel hit and not a professional CIA hit. Granted idk what the difference between those would look like but everything they did in these movies was to cause fighting between the cartels. It’s not about his vengeance as much as his vengeance is being used by the Agency. Alejandro’s vengeance is just the cherry on top for the Agency lol
One thing I need to clerify for all my non-Spanish speaking brothers and sisters out there is the part where Alejandro sneaks up on the cartel members exiting the car during the highway shootout scene. The subtitles read "In peace. In peace." That is NOT what Alejandro is saying! He's actually saying "Compas! Compas!" Which is short for "Compadre" which basically means "fellas". He's basically saying "Fellas! Fellas!" while trying to defuse the situation. Just wanted to clear that up. Carry on.
He's saying con paz, not compas. lol It was his way of letting them know what they were doing and simultaneously saying it's not worth it, bud. Also, compa is more like a friend, a familiar term of endearment. Not so much a random fella.
@@snidely_whiplashdepends on context but with strangers calling someone compa singular and compas plural it could come off less polite as trying to make it feel like he’s apart of them. I heard compas not con paz
@joshrodriguez238 This shall be the great movie debate of sicario, apparently lol. The "Con paz, compa dispute". As far as the use of compa. I see the line you're going after with use. I could see someone taking exception to a stranger calling them compa.
Something I noticed about the scene on the plane when Alejandro woke up looking shocked; his hand shook as if he were tied to the chair he was sleeping in. He was reliving his family's murder. He was tied to a chair and made to watch it. Holy Fucking Shit!!!
Ya know it’s funny you should mention that because in the original script when Alejandro was the main character and the focus of the film before Denis and benicio did the smart thing by doing the less is more shtick and changed it from being just a generic revenge movie, there was a flashback scene of what you were saying about his wife and daughter
I work in casino security for southern Nevada/Northern Arizona. Only in the last few years have we becomes armed security. An increase in drug use and related violence has made it necessary and it surprises a lot of the guests. Just a couple weeks ago we had a group of people squatting in a room with multiple baggies of assorted drugs, including fentanyl. The world is changing faster and faster each day.
It’s so sad things are getting so bad that you’re finding baggies of drugs in hotel rooms in southern Nevada/northern Arizona. It’s hard to believe that we’re now seeing drug users in desert hotels. I hope you guys are carrying extra mags, you’re definitely gonna need it
@TheDudeAbides1776 Yeah Bottles got out, was recruited by Cable for these cartel jobs, then tried the "good guy spy" life where he got betrayed and had to pal up with Ash before the whole chainsaw-arm phase.
the main thing with Alejandro gillick is that his life was so torn apart by the cartel that his mind stopped thinking about civilian life . he took his life and his main story is not working 9-5 and living the normal life , but to find and eliminate every enemy by his own ethos . its like creating a monster and unleashing him on the ones that made him that monster . look about his moral code , there is no right or wrong there is a clear goal . even after he took down the cartel boss he continued on to finish off everything they represent . --- the reason he cleaned out his family is that without emotions or moral involved he knows that the enterprise will live on with his family so he killed the entire wolf pack .
19:03 Please note that the 2015 Sicario movie may be taking place in the mid 2000's. Take a look at the Tahoe Convoy. Also refer to the kits and weapon mods. Also the fashion. Alejandros glasses etc. Fast forward to the second movie and everyone looks much older. Newer kits. Newer cars. Better tech. Modern fashion. Matt also states how the first method dint work when he was getting briefed by SECDEF. He stated that the game has changed from drugs to people (People modern day, Drugs up until late 2010's). I think these specific reasons is why the "drip" isnt good in 2015 Sicario. It's because people were still rocking beefy kits and Milspec M4's with older Eotechs/Aimpoints. Nobody was on the FAST gear trend yet. Please tell me if im wrong. Just a theory. @administrativeresults
That was my take, GWAT in Iraq 04-07 we had chunky gear. Aside from fast companies and recon passing through, most of us looked like shit. Brand new A4s, ACOGs and PEQ2s and Interceptor Vests with ultra heavy plates.... AT4s and torn up saws way past their service life. I don't know if the NVGs or the plates were the worst part but it wasn't good, gen 1 SAAPIs were retarded and the NVGs were 14 or 7Bs and the bulk were the cyclops that ruined both eyes for one narrow picture. Oh brand new boots that were slick on the bottom, that was great when wading through street sewage in "underprivileged areas".
But some of the d boys have magpul rails and also in the mid 2000s they would be wearing lbt or eagle industries vests instead of the offbrand crye vests also they would wear those mich helmets and spray deasert painted pro tec helmets (rarley the seals did it more) instead of the ops core helmet also seen in the nvg scene also they would mostly wear aor1 and dcu camo they wore raid mod bdu tops crye g1 and crye ac uniforms but in the movie they wore offbrand airsoft multicam acu uniforms and the nvgs are off completely delta was using dual tube nvgs in the 90s nothing really alludes to it being in the 2000s other than the basic sopmod m4s used in the movie but delta was already using 416s by then
There was a video breakdown that Larry vickers did on his channel of this film. When they introduced the delta operators he pointed out that the actors were most likely taught by seals advisors due to their kit, mainly that they were using drop leg holsters vs low riding holsters, and the overall movements and tactics used.
It’s a low ride belt holster, they should sit right under your plate carrier armor enough to draw without hitting your armor. A drop leg is literally a “holster dropped down to your leg.”
Fun fact: the CAG operator on the Shwarzkopf PSD is actually not Mike Vining but another gent by the name of Bill Cronin who spent 15 years in the unit.
They did have a spin off show for Steve. It was called "Burn Notice" and it was possibly the coolest show ever. Steve's real name is actually Michael Weston, he was obviously operating under an alias during the events of Sicario!
True criminal justice only exists in a monoculture without corruption. Even our rudimentary concept of "justice" in the United States functionally amounts to the victim(s) of a crime literally paying - through taxes - for the offending party to be placed in a glorified version of "time out". In the real world - full of plea deals and activist players in the judicial system - justice can only be achieved through more direct means. That being said, I already know exactly what I would do should some degenerate take my wife and son from me; what the movie depicts here isn't even in the same ballpark. It helps to fear neither God, Satan, nor any man.
One thing that makes Sicario so good is how plausible and grounded it really is. Based on the events in the movie and what occurs, it would be reasonable for the US government to respond the way it does in the movie. The characters within the movie are the little gears in the big machine.
This movie was so underrated and was phenomenal. Vickers actually does a break down on realism of this movie. Appreciate doing another break down brother man!

Sicario 1 was legendary. They did an amazing job immersing you into the world. The sequel was more of a classic hollywood action, for the sake of action, movie. REVIEW DEN OF THIEVES!!!
I watched the first twenty minutes of this video and then stopped to watch BOTH Sicario movies back to back before I finished this. Glad I did. Excellent films!
When promotional material came out for Sicario 2 I had zero expectations that it would be any good. The trailers made it look like a formula action movie and cash grab. I watched it anyway and, while it was not as good as the first, it was waaay better than I expected. Worth it, imo.
I have a feeling that simply thinking in terms of “what would you do if your family was killed” doesn’t quite cover having your kid melted in acid while she’s alive. I’m pretty sure anyone would do monstrous things to the ones responsible after that. Alejandro was way too lenient and merciful with the speed he did what he did.
Fun fact, Steve did have his own show. After the events of Sicario he got burned by the CIA and had to spend his 'retirement' in Florida dealing with his mother.
This is one of my favorite videos that you’ve done, admin. I watched another YT video a few days ago about Sicario, basically detailing the fact that Alejandro is the protagonist, even though the majority of the story is told from Kate’s perspective. I like the bar scene where Kate meets Shane, mainly because of the song playing in the background, Half Empty by Keith Gattis. ‘There’s somethin bout the whiskey, it goes down good with Haggard songs, yeah this glass might be half empty, oh but it won’t be for long”. Great tune that I can’t find streaming anywhere. Nice job again, admin.
An interesting exchange from the first one was at the end when Alejandro tells Kate she needs to move to a small town where the law still matters. Kind of encapsulates her philosophy as an idealist
I like the subtle hint of colors Kate was in the lit side of the room While Alejandro was in the dark side It shows their differences Kate is an honest law enforcer and Idealist While Alejandro was once a honest prosecutor Who became a sicario because of what happened to his family.
On the subject of morality, i know a guy who lived some very similar things to alejandro, but he went the other path, and built a new family and now his profession is one of healing pain. The life he lost and the tragedy of losing a family didnt stop him, and now, with a new family and countless people blessed by what he does in very tangible ways. He arguably defeated a much hard beast to conquer, the man is a hero. I find it an interesting parody.
Idk why but cartel movies are always bangers. Sicario 1&2, A Man Apart, Man on Fire... Triple Frontier had so much potential but they goofed up the plot
Law abiding citizen would have been perfect had it not been for the very garbage ending. The bad guy (Jamie Foxx's character) lived, and the ONLY GOOD GUY in the movie dies.
one point you didnt touch on with how hardcore steve was is when they watched alejandro get shot from the blackhawk (because they were going to smoke him themselves) you can see how it fucked with matt and steve just says "cool saved us the work" and isn't bothered at all.
Thinking Kate is annoying in Sicario is weird to me personally, i feel she is too naive yes but that is her role, a straight honest cop being confronted with the harsh reality of the drug war. Loved the video regardless!
Exactly, she’s representative of the naivety of believing the system is right and just, when in reality behind the curtain the government is just as evil, ruthless, and disgusting as the cartels. It’s the dream of a wise noble system versus the ugly reality
Honestly Jeffrey Donovan( Steve Forsing) is what drew me to this movie. Grew up watching Burn Notice, granted it had it's faults, but was overall a good series. Jeffrey Is a great actor who's gone through struggles.
First saw him on, what would eventually became my most fave war film; When Trumpets Fade. So it's an odd surprise to stumble onto him seeing movies like Sicario 1 & 2, and Wrath of Man.
I love how you put on full kit for the review and dresses up as glasses dude (who was also in a huge role in FARGO SEASON 2 as Dodd, a German mafia hit man/enforcer)
I live vicariously through these movies. As one who worked undercover in the "War On Drugs" you have no idea how much I wanted to go full Scicario. Alas, I admit we have lost this war. The state I live in has essentially decriminalized the very drugs I was trying to get off the streets. It was very frustrating. But, I enjoyed these movies and others. Being a grandfather I am trying to influence my grandchildren the best I can. Two are in college across the country so don't have much contact with them but one is close, and young. His parents are anti-gun but I've been given permission to teach him! He got a Red Ryder for Christmas. He loves helping me reload. Maybe there is hope.
Hold fast pops, don't despair or give up all hope on the youth (at least not yet anyways); I see stuff happening all the time, almost every single day which not only greatly frustrates, confuses and/or discourages me, but most of all, leaves me with the strong feelings of very little to virtually no hope or optimism for our newer, up & coming younger generation(s)... but every now & then I come across someone such as yourself, and that, coupled with how I raise my kids and now seeing how they're turning out, are the very things that leave me optimistic & positive that there is perhaps still valid hope for us & them... stay steady, keep doing exactly what you're doing... that's all guys like us really can do. Oh and btw... the very first "firearm" I ever got as a kid, and subsequently got for my son when he was old enough, was precisely that sir: a Red Ryder .177 cal lever-action BB gun. Ahh... a man after my own heart! Stay frosty, and Semper Fi sir. Weapons Free
The war on drugs was doomed from the start. There’s no way to police morality, people want what they want. As long as there is demand there will be a cartel
Sounds like the "parents" are some card carrying dingleberries. Sorry, not sorry. Guns are tools, and nothing more. If theyre anti-gun, they better be anti-sword, anti-axe, anti-baseball bat, anti-hatchet, anti bow and arrow, etc. Sorry, probably one of them is your kid, but i refuse to let my children ve qeak or ignorant. If they wish to bot own a gun? Thats on them, and i will give them an earful over it. But to be literally "anti-gun"? Id have major issues with that. I cant expect my 40lb daighter to beat up 40lb boys in her class, i should expect her to beat em up wheb shes 120 and theyre 250+? Gun rigthts are womens rights. Guns are the ONLY thing that has actually kept america safe from invasion until this recent "passive" invasion thats being done. I mean f*ck, in the 80-90s you could afford to be anti-gun, there was a good chanc nothing bad will happen to you. Nowadays? Nah. Im not letting my family drop off like that. And if someone should happen to hurt them at some point, it will get handled one way or another.
You are doing such a great job. Looks like, your movie reviews are getting better than your gun reviews. Besides, the love and emotion you put into both of them is really incredible. Interesting perspective r.e. the Delta gear breakdown…however as the team are operating incognito they wouldn’t want to look ‘Delta’ with all the Gucci kit. Hence they’d probably be running kit that doesn’t scream ‘top tier’ government unit? IDK just my opinion

I've left this video alone for a week, avoiding watching it for some reason. I was pleasantly surprised with the content. I was impressed with the love you gave SGM Mike Vining. He's as close to a Delta plank owner that exists in 2024. He's a cool dude, with a BTDT resume as comprehensive as anybody's. Nobody has kicked as many doors down as guys in the thick of Afghan/Iraq operations in the GWOT, but MSG Mike Vining helped write the Delta instruction book of what to do in wierdass backwaters of the world. I've listened to a podcast interviewing him, and he's pretty much what you'd expect. A humble, intelligent, knowledgable guy. If you can find the podcast it's a great listen. I'm sorry I can't recall the name of it.
Admin, I can't believe you got Jeff Donovan to host this episode. You're really making a name for yourself, and drawing great talent. Keep up the good work.
Omg… the character that you are dressed like is my f’ing fave!!! The way he talks about the brilliance of what the cartels do… he’s a brilliant character that has a relatively small role, but it is so clear that he operates. Thanks for this awesome video!!!
The cartels were operating in the Border City I worked in the Border Patrol. The signature hit were full auto AK’s and they didn’t give an F day or night. They just lit up some hood mule for loosing weed. Sadly, they also hit some of the SOG guys I detailed with when they were running a UC vehicle. The brass tried to keep it on the DL, just like when the Mexican Military crossed in a high drug area into the United States with full on weapons of war. The SRT guys ambushed them. Billy Boy Clinton ordered them released and allowed to cross back over the Rio Grande with all their heavy weapons to shoot at Agents on a different day. The brass lied to the media, who were corrupted anyway.
I fucking love the Sicario movies. I personally think the gear discrepancies were fixed more in the next movie as gun culture became more mainstream. Also side note about Mike Vinning, that picture of the Operators doing PSD around the helicopter is actually not him, just another guy who looked like him. Vinning and his friend Dennis Wolfe are considered the fathers of Special Operations EOD. Vinning is also, as far as I know, the only EOD tech to have a combat infantryman badge since when he came back to Delta, he changed his job in order to be promoted in the unit. All in all, great video my man, hope you do more of these!
A lot of people don't realize a lot of the money the cartel makes is from (somewhat) legal operations. Say a farmer grows corn, cartel might come in and say that they own that land so they need the profits from the corn, they might then use slave labor to work the field. If the farmer fights back, he'll be removed, if not he will continue to sell the corn through legal means and he gets to benefit from the free labor.
Steve forsing character is based off William F. "Bill" Cronin III who is in the picture of security detail during Operation Desert Storm. He began his career with the United States Army serving with Special Forces units, including close to 15 years with Delta Force. Mike vinning also stated this, sorry to poke holes love your content
Thank you for saying this as well. I've comment this same thing. Cronin gets mistaken for Vinny I feel because they both look un assuming and not intimidating. Although Mike was on the ground during desert storm he was not part of Schwarzkopf's security detail.
Cronin has dark black hair, Vining has sandy hair... But wear glasses and they get confused. It's the Clark Kent / Superman trick. They definitely look different in facial features too... And Vining smiles more.
The border crossing scene is so great. I rock a stache' and part, once a coworker saw me in a button up, vest and glasses and was like "dude you look like the guy from CoD"... I still took it as a compliment LOL.
Someone probably brought it up already but that character you speak of was actually William "Bill" Cronin he was the operator on that security deal getting off the bird.
Sicario holds the title of "Movie that changed my mind the most" and "Favorite shot in any film, ever, period, dot, full stop" for me. Sicario showed me that America no longer operates by its own rules, and has no problem lying to the public via plausible deniability in the aim of letting the intelligence apparatus run amok both inside and outside CONUS. My favorite shot from any movie, ever, is the sequence of the Delta operators lowering their IR goggles, one by one, descending into the darkness until every one of them submerges into it. *THAT* is filmmaking right there.
It took a movie for you to realize "America no longer operates by its own rules"? It wasn't Ruby Ridge, Waco, the D.A.R.E Bombing, MkUltra, COINTELPRO, Operation Mockingbird, no it wasn't any of that it was a fucking movie.
21:16 imagine you’re some dude trying to smuggle 60 Percs back over the border in grammas empty bottle and seeing ol’ Benicio tracking you with a plugged M4 whilst being tracked by a camera dolly. “Damn. Shoulda got 90.”
What really gets me is the last scene with Silvio's kid playing the soccer match the gunshots start again, indicating that despite the boss of the biggest cartel dying, nothing changed.
That end scene is fucking ice cold. The shootout at the border, "welcome to juarez" idc what anyone says it SLAPS. Great casting, great acting. I also enjoyed day of the soldado
I think I’m on the opposite fence regarding someone killing my family brutally. People love to say they’ll do this and that, they’ll do anything and everything.. FAFO.. but when it comes to another kid or something they won’t. I can see both views, but for me I would have no hesitation, personally.. Anyone who would try to defend you, protect you, you as my enemy, or think you’re right in any of it would be my enemy at that point. Line em up. Nothing is off the table. Actually you just opened Pandora’s box to all the possibilities in my head. And that’s the scariest part to me honestly, not the act, but everything nobody has seen before that could be possible. The savageness would not be questioned, it would be interesting. Love this series though
I have encountered FBI Agents in my 20 years before I retired. I wasn’t impressed. The first one showed up at our Border Patrol station in a tropical shirt, Bermuda shorts,, a hat and a fag bag, because we arrested a Cuban. He announced in a whiny voice announced, “Does anyone speak Spanish?” This was back in the OG days when speaking Spanish meant you were still employed. I replied in a History of the World reply, “No!-vee all speak French!” My second encounter was when I was an ICE (later reprimanded HSI)SSA on a VCAS Fusion team dealing with illegal gangs. I was summoned to the FBI puzzle palace and wasn’t even given the courtesy of being allowed past the past the general entrance. This guy was dressed okay, not Agent Smith from the matrix suit or anything. He wanted to pump me for MS-13 intelligence about them moving into Northern NM. 1. There were a lot of neighborhoods filled with groups in the 100’s (not MS-13). 2. If there were, I wasn’t going to hand it over to this clown who didn’t give me the courtesy as another SSA, nor do the FBI stretch of patting himself on the back based on my work. Long story short, having watched the X-Files when they were out, I was sorely unimpressed with reality.
Mike Vining is perfect as a special forces operative because in 9/10 situations you would never see him any more than you'd see the wallpaper. Like seriously imagine describing him to a police sketch artist. "white, early 30s short hair, clean shave, dark glasses, and a button up shirt." You could pull 1000 of him off the streets in any city in America.

Upon further reflection, maybe that’s what he really meant, the monster that grief turned him into. I love double meanings like that.
AMAZING COMMENT
Wow. That was really astute. Even if it wasn't intended by the film's story staff, it's a powerful interpretation. I totally wouldn't have put that together in a million years.
I really like this take

@@uuuultra i think this guy said "double meaning" when they meant interpretation. the replies seem to have unintentionally got it right
Secario is a trick movie.
Is it anything like the movie "Sicario"?
@@mattmarzula : Never heard of it.
Perhaps the real story was the friends we made along the way.
Wasn't this the title of a TH-cam video?
Part of what makes this movie clever is the fact that it’s a story about Alejandro, but told from Kate’s (Emily Blunt) perspective. It was a creative way for the narrative keep its cards close to the chest until the big reveal at the end.
I watched this one recently on one of my streaming services and it quickly became one of my favorites as well.

I always understood that Alejandro is killing the family to break the cycle of vengeance. If he leaves the kids alive they will just grow up to avenge their dad, and Alejandro obviously knows the lengths that vengeance will drive people too.
in short, he was smart enough to keep the number one and two headband, instead of that dumbass named justice who just...leaves it
Well. Thats his cynical, cold and calculated world view.
Yes.
@@JoaoVictor-rg5ixit’s a cold world…
One thing I need to clerify for all my non-Spanish speaking brothers and sisters out there is the part where Alejandro sneaks up on the cartel members exiting the car during the highway shootout scene. Carry on.
The second time I watched it I had subtitles on and when I seen that I was like that's not right
he was saying “Con Paz”, not "Compa"

He was locked up in Corcoran State Prison under the nickname "Bottles".
---
the reason he cleaned out his family is that without emotions or moral involved he knows that the enterprise will live on with his family so he killed the entire wolf pack .

That’s a solid point. If it was early 2000’s the baggy gear might make a little more sense
Yeah I always got the impression that this movie took place somewhere between 2005-2010, the gear would make sense then.
Maybe but that Daniel defense rifle was not mid 2000s era
For those who don't know (or forgot), Vickers was Delta.
You mean drop leg Vs belt holster ?
@terminator9099 not sure the technical name, it is a belt holster but it sits lower to allow an easier draw
It’s a low ride belt holster, they should sit right under your plate carrier armor enough to draw without hitting your armor. A drop leg is literally a “holster dropped down to your leg.”
Team guys in the navy aren't running drop-leg holsters. Vickers clearly hasn't been keeping up with the teams since his day.

I honestly hope I never have to answer the question. Revenge is ugly, but it can also be an unavoidable temptation.
Justice is no substitute for revenge.
There is no justice in this life, there can only be vengeance.
Justice can be attained though highly methodical vengeance. (There will always be a price to pay)
There is no justice, Just Us!

Revenge is like a path in the woods, sometimes you get lost along the way.
It’s a complex beast it doesn’t care who it bites

Love how in depth you went with this. The extra info and context is great.
An interesting exchange from the first one was at the end when Alejandro tells Kate she needs to move to a small town where the law still matters. Kind of encapsulates her philosophy as an idealist
I like the subtle hint of colors
Kate was in the lit side of the room
While Alejandro was in the dark side
It shows their differences

On the subject of morality, i know a guy who lived some very similar things to alejandro, but he went the other path, and built a new family and now his profession is one of healing pain. The life he lost and the tragedy of losing a family didnt stop him, and now, with a new family and countless people blessed by what he does in very tangible ways. He arguably defeated a much hard beast to conquer, the man is a hero. I find it an interesting parody.

Nobody has kicked as many doors down as guys in the thick of Afghan/Iraq operations in the GWOT, but MSG Mike Vining helped write the Delta instruction book of what to do in wierdass backwaters of the world.
One of the reasons it's one of my favorite movies is exactly because the ending. Not many movies have the balls to pull a scene like that.
We need a Sheridan Villanueve part 3 badly. Finish this trilogy in style
I love the discount Mike Vinning look.
Sicario is based.
This secretly being a Mike vining fan video makes it 10x better that man is so cool
The border crossing scene is so great. I rock a stache' and part, once a coworker saw me in a button up, vest and glasses and was like "dude you look like the guy from CoD"... I still took it as a compliment LOL.
My favorite movie is by the same Director, being wind river. While wind river is darker and sadder the ending is just so satisfying.
@@user-ii9vn6vo6k That's the American way. If a movie wasn't made about it, then it's not worth knowing.
Let's not forget the score. The low droning in the build up on the walk in building the tension... love it
21:16 imagine you’re some dude trying to smuggle 60 Percs back over the border in grammas empty bottle and seeing ol’ Benicio tracking you with a plugged M4 whilst being tracked by a camera dolly.
“Damn. Shoulda got 90.”
What really gets me is the last scene with Silvio's kid playing the soccer match the gunshots start again, indicating that despite the boss of the biggest cartel dying, nothing changed.
I love how everybody loves Jeffrey Donovan's character
Him being Michael Weston for years helped sell that character for me
The only thing that sucks about this movie is that Jeffrey Donovan didn't get to play Michael Weston and tie some badass worlds together.
That end scene is fucking ice cold. The shootout at the border, "welcome to juarez" idc what anyone says it SLAPS. Great casting, great acting. I also enjoyed day of the soldado
Absolute beast of a movie. Its a yearly watch for me
This breakdown was phenomenal tho I love this nice video my guy 😂 I can see you were very motivated
“Fear the man who has nothing to lose”; “At the end of the day someone has to make the enemy have fear of the dark”
Oldboy the OG Korean version is a revenge story that still gives me chills since 2003.
I replied in a History of the World reply, “No!-vee all speak French!”
My second encounter was when I was an ICE (later reprimanded HSI)SSA on a VCAS Fusion team dealing with illegal gangs.
Nothing cooler than the Guys who look like Office workes but who could fuck you up at any Second.
this movie really does a good job of showing the difference between the military and police
Banging video. I have no idea how I missed this one. Great review, AR.
