I went in a bar for a late nite beer in Red Chute LA. Just a girl behind the bar. Dark eyed beauty. It was closing time. No one but us. What followed was one of my best memories ever. Some times I think of it and hope that somewhere she thinks of me now and again. Over 50 years ago.
Pretty good rendition........ the deep south touches us all in different ways, yet one presence seems to penetrate the psyche most with a enduring vibe of reality. A vibe that resurrects the memories for so many....... the silent beauty of a Louisiana swamp in the deep south, the plight of a people who were victimized because of the color of their skin. I met Mike Dowling in Madison, WI back in 2001 when he played a show on State street with an excellent jazz guitarist from Madison named Cliff. Real friendly, humble and down to Earth. What a gifted artist.
As a rank beginner to this genre, I absolutely love this. I’m in Texas but as a driver for a hot shot service, I made many loads to Louisiana and this takes me back there. Thanks and keep posting your beautiful music. I’d like to adapt it to my CBG.
That reminds me of a creek called Tadpole Creek that is named after my uncle Tad. True story. Some of the biggest speckled perch I've ever seen in my life.
Thanks for listening and also for the feedback. (It sounds like you might be more into a Ry Cooder style). This was recorded a while ago. I probably still play it in a similar style, but hopefully a little smoother and more relaxed. Everyone has their own tastes. That's what keeps us unique in our own sort of way.
@chicagopizza76 I came across Mike Dowling's music last year. He has such an way about him and his music reflects that. As for the swamp, I live in suburban Chicago. The swamp is in my mind!
I was in the deep South a few years ago when a beautiful girl heard me speak in my English accent, she came over, and in the most sexy honey-dripping deep South accent said, 'I just love your accent, talk some more' 'Not as much as I love yours love', I replied in my Lancashire accent, which would you say is the most alluring, I'm damn sure it ain't mine.
@@billscheck9745 I added this song to my playlist "In case of my sudden demise" I don't plan dying anytime soon, but my family has instructions to roll this play list after I pass on.
I love how many versions of this particular song there are on youtube. I did one myself, than there's the one with a million views and lot more. Keep up the great work
@Wats4Crick At the time i recorded this I was just getting into bottleneck. I picked up an inexpensive resonator on ebay. It doesn't even have a label. It has a wood body (some grade of mahogany), spider cone and round neck. It is also equipped with a pickup. It was worth the investment. It's been a lot of fun. Thanks for listening.
@damo666smith It was my first attempt on You Tube as well as on of my first attempts at slide guitar. If you like slide look up Keith Lorange. He's got some rellay great music posted.
Lovely work!!! Give me a favour... I´m looking for more music of this kind... You know.... acoustic guitar, and this tone bluesy, a bit country.... can you or anyone recommend me what to search? what is this kind of music called? Thank you very much!
Very nice for a start! I really like it. I'm just getting into slide after playing Blues, Rock and Metal for 25 years. For my taste the sound is a little too clean. Dunno how to explain, I like some more "dirt" in the sound. Your sound feels a little too sterile to me but that's a matter of taste. I enjoyed listening!!
Hellmaker - if you have something to do with it - LIKE THIS THE BLACK PEOPLE PLAYED IN VERY EARLY TIMES THEIR MUSIC - THIS IS BLUES DINT SAY ITS SWAMP THIS WORD CAME FAR LATER
Some of my most peaceful moments were deep in a swamp. Thanks for the memories.
Appreciate the comment. Thanks for listening.
