      Not really, the term "Bug", in the context of computers, exists because Ada Lovelace discovered a roach on the circuit board of a computer shorting it out and causing weirdness.

    • @chickenxcouncil
      @chickenxcouncil ปีที่แล้ว +12

      That’s where the term debugging comes from

    • @sjm4306
      @sjm4306 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@GMMilambar it was a pun, take it at face value. Also the version I heard of the story it was a moth that got caught in the terminals of an open mechanical switching relay which made up the logic of the computer. Honestly not sure if it really happened or whether it's just a sort of urban legend that morphed over time to explain the term "bug" in context of computing.

    Definitely misled there. What if it was bad enough to cause you to have an infestation yourself? Oftentimes cleaning companies won’t clean a house if there’s an infestation due to risk of infecting other homes. It’s the same principal here. Thankfully there was nothing live within the console.

  • @Scruit
    @Scruit ปีที่แล้ว +82

    Magic erasers are abrasive and tend to dull the finish if you press too hard. They are great for getting stubborn stains out, but they will cause a change to the visual texture of the plastic.
    On darker plastics (not just black, I mean anything that is c64 tan or darker), test an inconspicous area first. If you get a light sheen from microscratches then you can heat polish it to reduce the effect but I've never been able to eliminate it completely.
    If you are using it lightly, such that the spongy part of the magic eraser is still wide/expanded then it should be fine. If you are scrubbing with your fingers hard enough to crush the magic eraser flat then it will mar the finish.

    • @devilmikey00
      @devilmikey00 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah, even on white they'll leave scuffs you can see with the naked eye plain as day. They might not show up on camera but they are blatant in person. It's one of those pick your poison things, do you want a black smudge/scuff or do you want a faded smudge that's still visible.

    Kinda of topic but there’s a video called “a ps3 story: the yellow light of death” and it goes into great detail how to properly diagnose a YLOD ps3. I just wanted to share because it does great job at acknowledging there’s not a single solution for each console stuck in POST. It encourages repair technicians to properly diagnose the issue before repairing components at random in hopes that it will work. It’s an interesting watch and would probably be a good reaction video idea.😊

    Nothing like getting an old roach motel. Also there's certain times you don't want to use a magic eraser and that's on like shiny plastic surfaces because it's technically an abrasive and it will leave the surface dull. It can also damage lightly textured surfaces and leave them dull. What you used it on here was the perfect use case though.

    I have to ask - the little hair on the dental pick I think is omnipresent at this point. Is that on purpose?

    As a repairman, id literally rather get a plastic bag of loose screws the seller couldnt figure where to put than just omitting them. Especially when it comes to vehicles.

    How would you even make anything after fees at 375? Did it even have a controller? I usually check for roaches by smelling the vents, it smells musty/sweet if roaches were there…

    If you replace the liquid metal on ps5, is it as good as the original? Does it dry out easily?
