    This is why I love this channel. He's not afraid to say it's broken. He takes us through the diagnostic process until we see that the console is completely broken or economically viable to repair.

    Who should I send these broken consoles to? Most upvoted comments will get the most consideration. VIDEO UPDATE (1/31/2021) I sent the PS4 board with the faulty RAM chip to the Cod3r. Here's his video about it: th-cam.com/video/sbyphasGMrA/w-d-xo.html

    Steve, I love your channel. I just wanted to say thank you for providing all of your content. I am a DIY person, but I don’t necessarily have all the resources or confidence to tackle some of these projects until I came across your channel. @@Tronicsfix I think you could make yourself a stencil for that RAM chip. Just use a free PCB design tool to create a footprint for that chip, make a PCB at JLCPCB with just this one footprint on it, order it with a stencil, cut up the stencil so that it fits on the motherboard in-between the other RAM chips, tape it down using capton tape, apply some solder-paste and heat it with your hot air gun. Perfectly reballed. Same applies to the balls on the BGA. That should work.

      @@Tronicsfix I wish that worked all the time. Sadly some components are locked against each other, like Xbox360 drive. Had to replace the electronics to keep the keys between the console and the drive working... from a 5 minute swap it becamse much more just to solder the wires inside. Whyyy :(

    Hey Steve! Great job on both Consoles as Always
    I have a suggestion that you can look for the HDMI repair.
    FYI,i am just a rookie on console repairing and i wanna point out to where you can run down HDMI trace and point to the back of the Motherboard where there is an IC called M503/504X to check it's voltage and make sure you get 5v on it cause that's what i heard.
    I believe this chip is what controls the 5v HDMI rail but not sure tbh.
    Don't give up!
    I have Learned everything from your channel and without a doubt, you are the most Talented Console repair technician in TH-cam with best channel for repairing stuffs.
    You have helped me alot to choose my interest and love for repairing consoles as i was in doubt and thanks to you,my dreams came to reality and all is because of you.
    Thank you so much
    Keep up the good work.

    At 3:57 the third diode is bad. It read both ways. Even if its 1.9 ive seen diodes change resistance under load due to heat.

    On the PS4, Starting at 3:24, you start checking the diodes behind the HDMI Port. The third one that you check reads 1.922 when one way, and 0.546 the other way. If the diode was acting as expected, that would be OL one of the ways you measured.

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a normal reading for that specific diode

    16:21 You didn't check HDMI retimer chip (at least we didn't see you did), and the problem is almost certainly with that chip.

    I noticed a possible error missed. At about the 3 minute 57 second mark, the diode at top of three on left of screen had the 0.5 at that time and earlier with probes reversed, when stated they should have reading one way but not the opposite, same diode had the 1.5 reading while the others had 0L
