  • My truck has been making a squealing noise lately and I wanted to fix the issue. I knew it was coming from the fan/alternator belt because turning the wheel did not affect the squeaking.
If you have the same issue and it is worse when turning the wheel, then it is most likely your power steering belt that needs to be replaced.
However, in order to access the fan/alternator belt, I'll need to first remove the power steering belt. So I am replacing both the fan/alternator belt & the power steering belt in this video.
I was able to find these parts at my local auto parts store but you can also find them online.

Great video. Thank you so much for finding a spot to put the camera down instead of trying to hold it. It stays so much more steady and I can see what's happening

In in Perth Western Australia…. This might be an old vid but my old 1997 22r is still going and I appreciate all the help vids I can find on it . Last month the fuel pump died …. I managed to get the last available pump in Western Australia 🥵 . The old girl is starting to show her age though…. This week I finally had to replace the starter motor lol I got tired of having to pop the bonnet every other time I turned the engine of ,and hit the starter motor to free it up …it was at the point where rocking it back and forth in gear wasn’t enough. To tap the starter motor/ solid ….I made a long slim slide hammer…. Using a 2 foot long pice of pvc pipe as the guide , and a thin steal rod to slide inside the pvc as the hammer. I just thought I’d mention this …. Because I know what a pain in the arse it is reaching down inside the hot motor trying to knock the bloody thing with another tool. I hope this slide hammer tip helps someone else. Take care of yourself people .👣🦘🇦🇺🍻

Great video on belt replacement 👌. My belt in the back has a small chunk out of it, not so good. Pellco is a great outfit to deal with, lots of work being done on a school site for the past couple of years near me.

Best video I found on actual footage of w belt being removed behind the fan . Thanks ! I’m guessing your truck didn’t have A/c? Mine doesn’t either so it’s only two belts ?

Thanks for the kind words! No A/C, so yes, there were only 2 belts.

When tightening the pulley back up how tight is supposed to be ?

Something else just occurred to me that I have had to do because the parts are not cheap . One of The power steering hoses has started to leak … a replacement part bin Australia would cost over $340:00 Australian dollars …. I wrapped the entire metal pipe and rubber hose with a plumbers silicone tape… it’s been holding up for over 12 months .

How did you tighten the alternator belt on your own?

I know this is old as hell but I just kept the bolt kinda tight so it would stay in place when I let go but still move when I yanked Iit then just pulled on the alternator till the belt was tight haha

U forgot TO tell your viewers to unscrew the pully after the tensioner. I heard u doing it after watching your video 5 times. Doing what u showed confused me cuz the pully didn't budge. My neighbor told me i gotta unscrew that bolt too to make it move
