    Will pointed out exactly what I was thinking about this company throughout the entire video - "I am WIll Prowse." If Ruixu sent this hardware to Will, what are the chances that Ruixu made a point to ensure the hardware was as close to perfect as possible? It's not unheard of for a company to send review units that are pristine, only to have the actual consumer product ship with poor quality construction.

    • @WillProwse
      @WillProwse  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +25

      That used to be the case with the 12V packs. But I'm not sure what they would change in this pack to lower the quality of construction. If they have the cell terminal welding machine and proprietary cell holders for the cells their using, and it's listed, it would be very difficult to make a "different" product for TH-camrs. Also, anyone can open this in five seconds. So if that's the case, we will know quickly.

      No matter what, first production units are likely to have more attention, then manufacturing is likely to have issues shortly after startup, then those issues will typically be improved. That may be part of what happens too. In addition, what Will said is true too, they are much more likely to provide him better service than we mere mortals.

    YES!! It's a great battery, even picking it up it just feels more "solidly built" than some of the others - it's hard to describe. I'm glad to see the rack finally. I had a picture but they were still finalizing the design of it when they sent me my battery. The lack of a circuit breaker is a bit of a bummer. It didn't care at first, but the more and more I work with my system, I'm finding it to simply be an excellent way of isolating a battery or batteries while working on things. I mean, I guess the amphenol plugs make up for it - simply yank one off.

      @@john_in_phoenix I blew a T class once - a few years ago when my AIMS inverter shorted internally. I will say it was very impressive at how instantaneously it shut things down. It's definitely the way to go for these large battery builds.

      @smithrb 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@KyleSindlinger Sol-Ark 15k. Only time will answer yor concern. So far, Ruixu has been very responsive to every question I've asked. Since they originally released, they've also extended their warranty from 7 to 10 years. I'm also told their UL9540 Certification is due out very soon. I've paused on my next purchase to see if their new 14.3kWh battery bank will communicate seemlessly with the existing Rack systems. If so, I will likely go in that direction since the form factor is so much more compact. Specs and pricing should be released shortly.

    I agree with your comments about the design of the server rack. Having the cables routed through the top seems like a good idea. The over/under network connection is good idea also. That said, I don't like the on/off switch being located under the negative cable. You should not have to move the wires to turn the battery on/off. The on/off switch should be somewhere in the center face area to make is easy to reach and operate.

      UL 9540 is a safety standard for energy storage systems. For energy storage systems connected to a utility grid, the UL 9540 standard extends to the equipment used to make that connection. This standard pertains to fire and explosion safety concerns associated with ESS, including:
      The safety of the storage (battery) component during operation
      Fire detection
      Fire propagation and suppression
      Fire mitigation effectiveness in enclosed areas

    As someone who made a career out of evading warranty claims (Sorry, customers for my previous major import automotive distributor from S. Korea!), I can tell you that the vagaries of the warranty are concerning. For the small difference in price, I'll take the EG4/18K pair for my new home build. I plan to be mostly off-grid (out of spite, not finances- I know, dumb, but it makes sense in my mind) and since I'll be grid-tied, I want to have that tech support and warranty when I need it. I need to keep my profit-center working for me as much as possible! Will, I hope you will be posting update videos on the Ruixu system? And will Ruixu be selling the rack separately? Would we be able to slide our EG4 batteries into the Ruixu server rack?

    Great video as well. Going off grid soon too.
    I have also some spare network racks like yours that I will use.
    Since EE I will have a braker or fuse between bus plus bar and inverter, just in case (and I can turn off the whole rack). May you come up with an solution as well?

    Should they move the power switch to not be under the wire?
    Was the short caused by the handles touching the terminal?
    If they added circuit breakers and move that power switch it seems like it would be perfect?

    The quality on server rack batteries are getting better and better together with the price. However, a DIY battery is still much cheaper so that's still my preferred solution. personally I will only pay around 15-20% more for a prebuilt battery compared to a DIY one.

    It is good to hear from you Will. I haven't seen much from you lately. I was afraid that we were losing you to other pursuits. Just for shits and giggles, what do you think of these batteries that are DIY and are made of 18650's, 32650's etc.? It is apparent that they are labor intensive, and that is OK for someone with the time I would guess. I would think that used cells would be suicidal, but I am not sure that I trust even new cells.

    Ruixu has done a pretty good job at getting these TopBand designs to market first. There is now competition form Maple Leaf Power in Canada selling them as the "Beaver" and in the UK it looks like FogStar has these units and are calling them the R51100A. There are also self-heating versions coming to market in early 2024 from Ruixu and Maple Leaf... so if you need self-heat then hold off!

    I so agree with you on the SOK batteries. If they had a nice cabinet that could hold 6 batteries and looked good they would be great, but because I get one free battery by buying the EG4 there is no contest.
    I sure wish Will wold have just tested if an EG4 battery would fit in this rack because they will sell that rack for $559 and those EG4 batteries would sure look good in that silver rack.

    QUESTION: If you have a multi rack stack of batteries - and multiple 18kPV inverters, what bus bar can handle the high current???
    And what disconnects????
    Example each 18kPV max in and out is 250A, if you had 6 or 8 in parallel, then 1500A or 2000A could be traveling across the bus bar to the batteries.
    Who makes a bus bar, appropriate sized disconnects, or breakers for this size of a system???
    thanks

    Hi, I have been watching your stuff for a long time. Now working my way up the lithium ladder.
    Off subject, but what is your suggestion on batteries For my truck camper going to lithium.
    I have 212 V deep cells. Now that are not cutting it. But my charge controller will only do 13.6 Which is built-in, so it would be a pain to change all that.. Any suggestions.
    You do a great job, by the way and I just love listening to your voice.
