    What's that big piece thing you used to drill the big hole called? you have a link to buy

    In the begining I maybe would have considered screwing the hose attachment into a flange that protrudes around the the fan an extra inch so that you dont have a narrowing duct for the air

    You need a high speed ele. drill when using Whole Saws.

    I made this as well a while ago... one thing I noticed tho was the internal temperature increased to around 100 degree celcius, and thus the machine would shutdown after an hour or so at that temperature. Could never get it past that. So I only turn it on now when I'm away

      I no longer have this setup, but when it was setup, I had a tube connected directly to the miner pushing cool air in while the other end was connected and blowing hot air out. It kept the heat flowing directly through the miner rather than collecting inside the cooler.

      What setup did you move to?

    To be clear -- a hole saw is used here, and is not listed in the required tools.

    I have Questions that I would very much appreciate if you answered.. why did u leave the PSU outside of the box and not inside? What's the db with the box and without it? How hot does it get when it's in the box vs when not?
    Thanks alot!

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wanted the PSU outside of the box so I could connect it to an outlet easier. If needed it would also allow me to swap it easier as well in case I needed to replace it. Plus the PSU adds additional heat. It's quiet so I don't need to put it in the box which is the purpose of the box.
      dB is upwards of 75dB to 80dB without the box. With the box it is virtually cut in half to 45dB. Huge difference when you are a home miner.
      The heat in the box stays at a relative temp depending on the temperature that is being blown in the box. All heat is pushed out through the tubes. Typically when inside and outside of the box it stays around 70 degrees F

      @davidhaidari8120 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks alot! What would you do in the summer heat to keep the temp low? Sticking one side of the tube outside maybe? Or it's fine to keep it inside

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually route the tube out the window. Lately though, I just placed the entire setup in the garage.

    what are those bracket things called with the nice hole in it? i'd like to buy that somewhere

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which Bracket things? The white ones that I connect the tubing to? If so, they are called draft blockers which I got from Lowe's

    nice job.
    what about the temperature? is it difference without enclosure?

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the temperature remains pretty constant since im blowing cool air into it and then in turn blowing it out. It is really meant to reduce the noise :)

    how did this work in the long run please? I need to build one but want to know if its safe for the miner please. Thanks

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brad Boyd old video, but it worked well. As long as you have cool air flowing into it. I still have the S9 and it still works perfectly. I no longer have the cooler and housing though.

    Hey, nice work on the design. I just have a question for you. What was size and length of the screws you were using when you added the duct to the back of the miner??

    • @ChrisLoh
      @ChrisLoh  ปีที่แล้ว

      wow. Thanks. That was so long ago, but I think I was using the included screws from the miner itself if I remember correctly.

      I have ordered the new S9 Hydro which is water cooled so will eventually replace my existing S9s and will no longer need this. Using this reduces your dB by 20dB
