My dad is the worlds biggest stargate fan and he met Judge at a restaurant in Pismo Beach years ago. He was very nice to my father, so for that, I thank him
Sorry but your dad is the world's second biggest Stargate fan cause I'm the number 1 worlds biggest fan even wearing my indeed shirt and I watch this 😂😂
I met Christopher Judge here in a comic convention in California and he was awesome! Dude is a muscular teddy bear. I got a picture with him and an autograph picture of kratos that he signed "Boy." I told him thank you for his portrayal of Kratos in the God of War games and how amazing he was for going from a tough, brutal warrior who was trying to be better father role model to his son Atreus in the video games. I opened up with my relationship with my dad and how it is difficult but Kratos and Atreus showed that if they can heal and get through it, then I can get through with my father. He smiled hearing this and said Im glad man and I was happy he called me "Boy." I geeked out. Great guy and now after hearing Christopher's story with his dad, I cant complain now. He was brave speaking up about his relationship so good on the podcast for bringing Christopher Judge.
Christopher Judge would've made a great live action Apocalypse. Interesting enough he voiced Magneto in X-Men: Evolution. Of course Teal'C in Stargate SG-1 is a fan favorite character and he brought so many different layers to the performance.
Hearing this interview and hearing about his father and him being father just makes his portrayal of Kratos just so amazing cause he’s like almost having to sorta be in his fathers headspace cause of the character Kratos was before the Norse saga and it’s so amazing seeing that
I bumped into Chris in a nightclub in Vancouver; it must have been 1998. He had a gorgeous woman on each arm, both taller than him. He noticed me noticing him (I get giddy when seeing people on TV- it's embarrassing) and gave me a wink and a smile-it made my evening!
Tougher the childhood, tougher the podcast. This man has been through a lot, thank God he knew very early what he wanted to do with his life and never stopped trying. The violence, the argues, the drinking, the surgeries... This is one of the most interesting and meaningful Inside of you ever, thanks ❤ Glad to hear your surgery went well Michael, take care 🙏
I just finished this episode and it is one of the most powerful ones that you had on the podcast. He is definitely a survivor. Chris opening up will help so many people. Michael I hope that your neck feels better soon. He has such a great career. I remember his Warrior episode. He did a great job. Thank you for having him on the podcast.
Chris Judge even though he never had like this big hollywood career, left such an impact on so many people through SG-1 and God of War alone. And that's a big and respectable accomplishment 🙏
Great interview! As big stargate fans we always used to joke that Judge wrote episodes so Teal'c could get some love and its funny to hear that was the motivation that actually got him into writing those episodes at the start.
Athena - "You cannot change....you will always be a monster". Kratos - " I know.....but I am your monster....no more" Chris Judge is a prolific actor in my opinion and those games are GOAT! Thanks you for those amazing games and bringing your own history into these games! Much Love!
I loved all GoW games, especially the last two. But it wasn't until this podcast that I realized that in some ways, Kratos and Mr. Judge are more than just a game character and a voice actor. Especially when it comes to the father and son dynamic. This makes me appreciate both the games and Mr. Judge even more.
@@daanvandee257 Absolutely! there is a video on TH-cam where Christopher Judge speaks about GOW being a love letter to his kids and he gets quite emotional about. The hearing this! now I know why GOW & GOW Ragnarok hit me so hard!!

Grew up watching Christopher Judge on stargate sg-1, and him as Kratos in God of War is amazing! This was a really interesting podcast episode. Keep up the amazing work!
This may sound stupid but I had such a love for Stargate SG-1 when I was growing up it was very much a way my therapy and is to this day. I can’t afford therapy so there were tv shows and movies I laughed into. Stargate and Quantum Leap were probably the two biggest for me. I connected so much with Teal’c and the way Mr Judge portrayed him, maybe just for the fact that we share the same first name. To this day when I find myself in an emotional situation or problem I will throw an episode on the tv, my wife and I will watch it and it will always be an episode that just hits the spot. Christopher and his interrogation of Teal’c always blew me away because alot of the acting want always spoken with that character alot was just quirks of Christopher that fit Teal’c perfect. I was sad when it ended but it will always hold a a spot in my heart. Thank you Mr Judge. Great guest
I love this show, too. Just wanted to say, there are charities that pay therapists so they can charge lower fees, like $20-$40 per session. If you are interested in therapy, you can check for one in your area with "sliding scale fees."
I am listening to this episode now and I am learning so much about Chris. He is definitely a survivor. With him opening up it is going to help so many people. I enjoyed his character on SG. Thank you for having him on the podcast.
Would that be 2010? I met him at the entertainment media show where he along with myself and people around watching a terminator cosplay making a complete idiot of themselves dancing in front of Michael Biehn. Chris asked Michael what the fuck was that about?
I absolutely love Chris. He's so honest and forthcoming with his emotional states and his struggles. And his acting is exceptional as well. His role as Teal'C on Stargate is iconic, and yet to be paralleled.
Stargate was something me and my dad shared in watching together and it always makes me think of him when I watch it to this day. Breaks my heart to hear how rough his childhood was in that respect. What an honest and sincere interview, Christopher Judge is a true treasure and we're lucky to have him as a cultural icon
I'm a huge Stargate fan, esp. SG1, and it was such a thrill to get to see Christopher Judge do an in-depth interview like this! Very happy he agreed to be here, and thank you so much for having him on, Michael! This felt two minutes long. The two of you flowed so well together in conversation; loved it!! :)
Christopher Judge would make a GREAT Kang the Conqueror. Watching him do Teal'c for years and his presence, he'd make a frightening and intimidating Kang. Marvel should DEFINITELY get HIM.
Danng this was a quality session with Mr Judge open, honest, raw and revealing with a good dose of humour, would've loved to hear even more of his SG stories. Great job Michael.

What a fantastic interview, Christopher has had to deal with such a lot but has battled through and eventually found his peace. Thanks for this great episode🙂
I relate so much to Christopher Judge, my father was and is a monster, it broke me to the point of mental illness. But I've been able to break that cycle. When I met him in Toronto he was awesome,
Absolutely beautiful I can listen to my Kratos talk all day I know it’s a famous saying to never meet your heroes, but man, I would love to meet Christopher judge man. The universe created him perfectly.
I always enjoy your interviews, but this is my favorite. I LOVE Stargate and especially love Chris Judge. He wrote some great episodes. Thank you for this. I know he had an interesting show idea for a story involving fallen angel type characters. I would have loved to have seen that come to fruition.
The story of how The Changeling happened was great. I lived around the corner from where the firefighter scene was filmed. Literally a 40 second walk down the road. Great episode.
I have loved Christopher Judge since I fell in love with Teal'c in SG-1. Always a joy to hear from him, but to actually get inside of him with Michael is a special kind of treat.
What a heartbreaking story, but I can't help us see the parallels with him and Kratos i his life, he was perfectly cast. Unfortunately, people grow up with bad parents and become them themselves. Thank god he grew from it in became a better person.
I was told it would take a year to rehab after complex total hip replacement and leg length correction post a severe RTA. I also did it in six months, so I admire and respect this man for doing that. It really isn't easy.
Very interesting podcast. My Chris Judge story is that I watched a *lot* of Stargate when my youngest daughter was born. I watched reruns of older eps pretty much every afternoon for months while nursing her. When she was a few years older, Chris was participating in a Pro-Am Golf Tournament in Vancouver and we took her. She took one look at him and said, "I know him. He used to babysit me, right?" Um, no. You mostly watched him fire his staff weapon and fight bad guys. On TV.
Good episode! I love that he is kratos and is open about his life. Just like kratos tries to hide his past and christopher is willing to share. There is more to the person behind a character. He is so real.
Interesting dude, I had no clue about his background, SG1 is one of my all time favorite shows. I rewatch the series once per year or so. That was peak TV for me in the late 90's-2000's, you had SG1, Smallville, Firefly, Buffy and so on, nerd heaven. These days the quality of show writing is so bad that I don't even have cable any longer and don't feel that I'm missing anything. My son recently sent me a copy of God of War because he knew that I liked Teal'c so much.
Michael you and Christopher knocked this shit out of the park again. My wife and I got into Star Gate a few years ago and love it. Still hoping that some continuation can happen. I still use T'ealc"s "Indeed " all the time. If someone doesn't know what I am talking about, I tell them that they have to watch Star Gate SG1. It was great science fiction and had a good balance of humor.

I never really watched Stargate growing up but where he really stuck for me was when he played Kratos in God of War. Terrence C. Carson did an amazing voice actor job in God of War 1-3 but Christopher Judge as an older Kratos that is trying to heal from such a traumatic past just fit so well! Especially after this episode and hearing what things Christopher Judge went through, he is literally Kratos. Both Kratos (in the new God of War games) and Christopher Judge are trying to wrestle with demons from their pasts for the sake of their son and mental peace. I guess now that I look back and see the impressive voice acting that Christopher Judge does in the game I realize how much he pours his heart into the role. Thanks for having him on man, it was a good listen!
