Hope you guys went to other more local hawker centre like Chinatown Complex (largest in Singapore), Old Airport Road, Tiong Bahru etc etc...all have cheaper and tastier food. Lau Pat Sat food prices are higher and is very touristy... That bowl you called hot pot, here in Singapore and Malaysia, it's called yong tau fu. Various vegetable and toufu items stuffed with fish paste (some has meat and fish paste variety). You can choose it soup or dry version. The sauce is used as a dip for the food items or if you order dry version, to mix into the dry food items and noodles. Is not to be poured into the soup.
@@abctravelers yeah I watched that but I think most people don't know the Chinatown Complex is at another end. That hawker place you went to is called People's Park where there are lots of Chinese stalls. Chinatown Complex is more localised with a wet market at the basement level :D And most stalls there operate breakfast and lunch. It has over 100 food stalls. The cheapest Michelin rated food is at this hawker centre - Hawker Chan. (though he lost the star not long ago after expanding).
What!!! Totally didn’t know that.. and we thought we were in the Chinatown hawker centre 🤦♀️🤦♀️.. thanks for the info.. now we know what next time ☺️
The stalls outside Lau Pa Sat opens in the evening. The roads will be closed and they'll put the tables out. Think u went a little early. Not all stalls inside are open too.
@@abctravelers lol I thought ABC stands for American Born Chinese but from the English that you have spoken I still think you are an American family probably staying in LA, I have a lot of Vietnamese friends there. I think I met you before back in 1998 in LA. BTW I am Singaporean and welcome to SG.
@@franklee663what!! We met before? Dude!! 1998? Interest! I don’t remember going to LA in 1998 tho. We actually don’t live in LA. We live in Seattle. My son actually pick the channel name. He said it’s easy to remember. Also, I sometime call my kids ABC so it work out 😊😅
Beware of mala hot pots...their pricing is erratic and can be ridiculous! Some of the more responsible mala stalls weigh your order in front of you and will charge you based on the weight. Even then, i personally find mala an expensive dish
@abctravelers personally I avoid any mala hot pot stalls. Mala hotpots stalls did not exist in singapore until fairly recently. It was brought into the singpaore hawker scene by mainland Chinese businessman or mainland chinese emigrants. They became a rave among the Chinese gen z population and it was the "in thing" to have mala hotpot.
Wow! Thanks Singapore for the amazing first day.. ❤

No wonder why!!! Oh man.. we did walked by on our way home and saw the place was completely packed.
Explore the island city and if possible roam into the heartlands eg. Bedok or tampines
At night time at Lau pa sat there is a satay street, it only start at 6.00pm
We saw the crowd when we walk home one night.. so crowded

Bring your kids to the zoo, bird paradise
Wish we had time for that. We took them to universal Studios instead because my boys is crazy about rides..
Food away from the city are cheaper. 😂
Yep!! Away from all the attractions is where we usually like to find cheap food.

Thanks! That was probably the most expensive dish we had but it was good so I am ok with the price 😅

Everything she tried, she said good and cheap. Unlike those from mainland China, keep saying singapore everything expensive.
where I live a bowel of noodle is between $12-$16 🤦♀️.
Three main spices to make those dishes taste good and delicious...... Salt, sugar and Msg.😅😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂 completely agree!! But we all addicted to them spices 😅
