How can you tell which is high end? By the price is the only way I know how.

@@abctravelers if it's named Musang King, Black Thorn, Red Prawn, those are the high end ones Some others have like numbers in their names like codenames, and is not as famous as a result, unless people have nicknames for them too Hawkers that sell cheap durians almost always just labeled them as simply "durian', and if you ask them on what variety it is, they'll either say it's nothing special or try to dupe ya

I know very few Malaysians actually couldn't really eat durians, albeit they're a rarity

@@abctravelers I myself isn't really partial to any durians, since I couldn't really tell the intricacies between the variants. Apparently red prawns have a "shellfishy" taste(whatever that means) Like some people describing durians as "custard-like" or have elements or onions and/or jackfruits in them

You're totally right!!! We should have introduce the boys to Durian at the 3rd location. They do a really good job at picking up what the customer want compared to the other locations. You live and you learn right! And we are learning everyday ☺️

@abctravelers Perhaps one of these days you guys can try it, it's like eating sticky rice with mango. In Malaysia, there are two ways of eating durian with sticky rice, one, is to eat the fresh durian with sticky rice and coconut milk, two is to eat sticky rice with pengat or serawa durian, a Malay recipe of cooking fresh durian with coconut milk and palm sugar, it's my favorite, but you don't see this at the open markets, sometimes in Malay restaurants or sometimes at a 5 star hotel buffet. 😀

The best way to get from Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station to SS2 without a car is to subway which takes 20 min and costs RM 2 - RM 5.

What is the different? Is that the Buffet one? I thought the one we went was Durian Buffet but wasn’t the case.

​@@abctravelers I don't agree. You should give them Musang King and D24 as this tastes sweeter and seeds are tiny but first ask them to not smell them or put a peg or press their noses and also get them to think it is an egg custard tart.

They will eventually learn to eat durian.

@abctravelers one more place is durian BB park near bukit bintang. But here you do not hv to buy whole fruit but taste each pod from different varieties. For beginners I think it is a better way rather than buying whole fruit which is very expensive

Durian exported to most countries in Europe or USA are from Thailand or some from Vietnam but they are mostly being cut or snap from the trees instead of letting drop from the trees. Malaysian durians are dropped from trees.

The driver was telling us there are lots similar in the area. I am sure they are all great

Yes!! It takes multiple tries before getting use to the taste and smell. It happened to me. I am glad the boys tried especially Zander he actually tried it 2x. We can’t believe there’s so many different type of Durian. Eyes opening for real 😳

@@abctravelers Also, Durian is heaty. I would advise taking cooling food like watermelon and cucumber, or drink coconut water.

Tips for you : • Milder for newbies = fresh durian kampung/village (fresh means eaten within 5 days after durian ‘drop/fall’ from tree). • Just sweet for ‘bitter hater’ = udang merah (D175) & D7. • Bittersweet lover = Musang king (D197) & iOi (D168). • Bittersweet with mild alcoholic aftertaste = Blackthorn (D200).

Udang Merah for me. I called it cold durian for the mild heat effect after consume it.

It fed my whole family and more 😂😂😂
