I'm sorry. All of the first world nations are completely bonkers. We on the US have been complaining about the Mexican border, but we do nothing about it...for 40 years straight, nothing except undermine the power of their government which aides the cartels, which act as a backdoor for all kinds of foreign ops. Our border patrol and war on drugs are a front to continue to have contact with these savages, and we double dip by selling weapons to both the Mexican gov and the cartels.

I mean, if you can afford to leave, do so.
Just about ANY COUNTRY is better to live in right now than Canada will be for decades, especially for POOR PEOPLE.
Immigrants own 60% of small business because the government gives them loans when they come here, practically let’s them loan money from lenders without income or money, and let’s them sponsor limitless old persons that can’t contribute, taking medical care from taxpayers.
Canada is only interested in replacing its aging middle class and NOTHING ELSE.
And they’re not willing to invest in canadas poor instead they’d rather replace us and make excuses like the poor are dying on drugs or not working.
I’d there on drugs, they’re probably self medicating because they can’t see a doctor or a future here.
And at $27/hr, you already know why lower classes won’t work, there’s not a chance of owning anything so why bother?

Yep. Like how supermarket chain conglomerate Loblaws (owns a near 1/3 of food retailers in Canada) laundered 400 million dollars in revenue at a Caribbean bank that they themselves opened as a subsidy. When the CRA caught on and ordered them to pay the taxes due on that money, they basically told the CRA to f**k off and filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, which they won.
This is the same company that insisted it had to steeply raise food prices in the last few years to account for supply chain issues stemming from COVID - yet, they made 30% more on their **profit** margin in 2022 compare to pre-COVID 2019.

I'm from Mexico, and here we have many jokes about Canada. One of them goes, 'visit Canada before Canada visits you.' It's mainly because of the well-known canadian mining companies here in Mexico that have been involved in water pollution in rivers and aquifers. These companies are also known for their corruption when dealing with our government, paying to have their way and displacing native communities from their lands for mining purposes. One would expect them to engage in such practices in countries they often consider 'worthless' and 'third-world,' but it appears they don't even respect their own people and their own land.

You should do an honest government ad for Alberta..
    Here's a few things:
Disabled people who are missing limbs are being denied disability assistance if the don't get regular doctors notes verifying that the limb has not been replaced.
Obesity is a non-reversable disease and you get disability assistance without hassle UNLESS said obesity lead to diabetes and a leg amputation. Then you need to prove you're disabled.
Feeling stress at work is undeniably a physical disability, and you can collect disability AND your pension, even if you only worked for 6 months.
Most people with disabilities are homeless, unless you can't find a doctor to verify your disability, then you can claim disability and have a home..

Many of the native people support the pipeline, they want the jobs it'll bring, and they don't fall for the "CO2 bad" narrative. it's their self-appointed "Hereditary Chiefs" who are blocking the pipeline. Basically, a lot of Native Reservations have two sets of leadership: The elected council, and the chiefs who decide they are in power because their ancestors have always been in power. Think of it like British Monarchy on a smaller scale with less stolen gold.

There is so much misinfo in the news story and this video, please do not take it as truth.
There is something about negative content that is shocking that makes people beleive it is true.
In reality, the elected officials of first nations made a good business deal with the pipeline company, which will give them.lots of money and ongoing revnue, as well as employment opportunities for local indigenous people, in a remote area where large percentages of the population does not have employment (relative to an urban center).
Many indigenous people also work in oil and gas, and I have seen first hand how they are ethical partners with first nation comunities.
This video in my opinion does a diservice to the truth, and is misinforming people, by only providing one very biased negative perspective, which in my opinion is not rooted in fact

This is true for the majority of Canadians I've met as well being genial and probably a bit too a-political or uncaring about what goes on there. Because if you scratch past that, there's some f00king wild shit that happens in Canada that makes the US almost seem reasonable!
      Like for example-
The Oka Crisis, Quebec 2001, Freedom Convoy, Peace Village demonstrations, Gustafsen Lake standoff, Quebec biker wars
That's just off top of my head, I'm Australian so Canadian history isn't exactly a strong suite of mine, but its generally a place plagued by cashed up asians, property prices like Sydney but slightly worse and their government makes the NSW state government look 'clean and decent' by comparison... yeah, its really that bad. Which is a shame and I honestly do wish Canadians they best in getting rid of that dog Trudeau because he's a complete shitbag.

      Not even.
Canada used to have a federal social housing program which kept housing prices affordable, it was dismantled by the Conservative government led by Bryan Mulroney.
Social housing became a provincial responsibility, but only Quebec's government maintained it for a while, so Canada's housing prices exploded and later Quebec's did as well.
The Conservatives wanted to turn housing into an investment rather than a service, a shortage maintains prices high and guarantee constant growth for investor profit.
Canada slowly adopted American politics since a bit more than 30 years.
For example, look at Canadian urbanism when it comes to transport:
Montreal built 65 subway stations between 1960 and 1990.
Montreal built 3 subway stations between 1990 and 2023.
Canadian cities have American suburbs, American car infrastructure, American... Canamerica.

@@donnajohnson9324short answer, you can't. As an American whose country has a huge boner for oil, too, there's no stopping it. Most of us would love for it all to stop, but we'd all have to completely eliminate our dependence on oil. And I mean, ALL of us. That's not gonna happen anytime soon, especially when it comes to major corporations and billionaires who invest heavily in it.

As an Australian who's met a few Canadians, I approve of this message! ;)
I really hope society can reverse the current status quo worldwide. We truly are living in a post-truth age. An era of endless gaslighting, no pun tended. It's very easy to feel that no matter how much the corruption, misdeeds and malpractice of our governments (and the corporations who control them) are exposed, it just gets blown away in the spin, and nothing ever changes.
