    I love how you understand that beauty is not having a definite set of features, but it's how those features play off each other.
    For example, everyone now wants upturned eyes to give a sexy vibe but like you said, Marilyn Monroe, considered by many to be the sexiest woman, had downturned eyes. Because the rest of her face was lifted, the downturned eyes didn't make her looks tired. They gave her a sleepy, sexy bedroom look.

      +abirsashee Totally agree! Yes, exactly. If the person looks tired or sick, that we can correct with makeup and contour, but the rest should be accentuated I think!

    the most common complaint over hooded eyes is that the cat eye is tricky to do, because of the excess of skin. you can draw a perfect line, but when you open the eye, it gets lost on the skin or it bends. the same with some eye shadow application. however, is all a matter of knowing your eye. one of the pixiwoo sisters has hooded eye and she can do everything on it (then, of course, she is a pixiwoo sister XD).

    This was interesting. I did not realize how many eye shapes there are. I think it is cool to not think of an eye shape as a problem but as a feature to guide you in putting on your makeup. You make everyone feel special and unique. Kudos.

    Aly thank you so much for telling us about the irises and their settings. I went to my instagram to see if I had it in the center or different and mine are slightly set closer to the inner corners. It was unbelievable to learn something new about myself and it is so important to share that knowledge with other people,so thank you for that.

    Can you help with uneven eyes? My eyes have two completely different shapes and my creases are both different. My eyes always look so uneven, and I don't know how to do my makeup to make my eyes look even. One eye is just so much bigger than the other, I hate to take pictures because it becomes even more obvious how uneven my eyes are.
    Anyways, I love your videos! You are always so informative and you make everyone feel beautiful!

    Very interesting. I love how much research you do on all those topics, you're a lot more informed than most other makeup artists on TH-cam . You always give a logical reason for where you put what color and what it does. Most others just say" that goes there because I said so". But with you I can really understand why, and that helps to make everything exactly fit my face.
    Keep up the great work! XO

    Your an amazing teacher, I learn more from 10 min of your videos than watching hours of other TH-camrs! You should seriously think about creating classes, and having students pay, not only would it be beneficial for makeup artist, but photographers, as well as theater companies, and makeup companies! I've mentioned it before, PLEASE, PLEASE, do a few series for makeup on mature skin, I'm sure you could get a company or two to sponsor you!

    WOW! You really do your homework. I've never seen a TH-camr go that in depth about the shape of eyes. Now I understand that I have small, deep set, hooded eyes that are close together and and my iris is also pointing inward with the outside of my lower/outter corners turning down. I always knew this but didn't know the right way to explain, or distinguish it. My eyes never felt pretty to me, nor did I ever look at images thinking that my type of eyes were found in women to be thought beautiful. You did find the perfect pictures to change my mind. The way you talk about the differences, so gentle and kind and the fact that you simply don't see a problem in any of this makes me feel a lot better. Cannot wait for the next video. THANK YOU! You are a gem to TH-cam! XOXO

    i have the type of eyes where the corners are on the same line but the bottom droops down to see more white on the bottom, and I always used to hate it because I thought upward slanted, cat-like eyes were so beautiful but I'm slowly growing to appreciate it. Also, I have NEVER understood why hooded/monolid eyes are considered something that need to be "fixed". They are so gorgeous

    this vídeo was so informative! thank you very much... but I can't identify with any of those eyes, you see, I have a little problem when it comes to make up my eyes because I don't have the upper eyelid... let me explain: the skin below my eyebrows just continues until my lash line, so when I look at something i lift my eyebrows. it's complicated to explain and also it is to make up. you can google this issue as "epicantus inversus" i think, I believe it is not very common because no one talks about it, especially when it comes to make up...
    thank you very much again for this beautiful content :)

    Hi Aly, I just want to mention that there are several different Asian eye lids.. Some have monolids and some have "double" lids (epicanthic fold). Eye make up technique that work for one don't work for the other. Hooded eye make up don't seem to work for women with epicanthic fold either. Not sure what to do.

    @christinaallene123 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I appreciate what you said about hooded eyes very much!
    As a person with hooded eyes, I think a lot of the negative thoughts about them come from the fact that for a lot of people, (myself included) the eyes can look more mature like wrinkles, even if you aren't at an age where you start to develop wrinkles. I myself am only sixteen and the skin on my eyelids is very loose. Another issue I have is with finding a primer that keeps the eye shadow from creasing as the skin folds over itself most of the time making the shadow settle into those lines after a little while. The worst part about them, I think, is that I have to be very careful about the my eyeliner wings. There isn't much space between my lash line and the crease at the corner of my eye which means I have to make any winged eyeliner smaller so that the wing isn't completely cut in half by the crease. Its harder to figure out what techniques are best for the hooded eyes, but once you find them, they can be just as beautiful as any other eyes.
    I do have a question about eye makeup. If you haven't already, will you make a video about what the best colored eyeshadow is for the different eye colors? I've got hazel and I can't figure out which colors make them pop and which ones don't.

  • @juliav601
    @juliav601 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know you put up this video over a year ago, but I just wanted to mention another characteristic which is the epicanthic fold, when the crease of your eyelid covers the inner corners of your eyes. I have that myself and it would be awesome if you could give some makeup tips for these type of eyes since a lot "classic make up styles" just doesn't work and most makeup gurus often doesn't even know that this exists. It's a struggle and I've only ever been able to figure out what suits me through trial and error. :/

They are very informative and I love how you frame this as not a problem like others do but just different and even good. I watch both Asian and other peoples makeup video. I didn't think my hooded eyes are difficult to apply make up, but a lot of American or non-Asian youtubers seem to view it as a problem thus have to fix it, which I don't agree with.

    I hope you can make a video on how to make a sleepy eye look less sleepy. When I'm sleepy, my eye is as bad as Paris Hilton's! Thanks.
