Thank-you for saying dark eyeliner all around eyes makes your eyes look smaller. I have small eyes and people have argued with me that if I line top AND bottom , it will "open up my eyes". I tell them, "what looks bigger, a picture with a black frame, or a picture with a white frame?"
I think if you put some dark eyeshadow to line under your eyes, but do not put anything on your water line, it will make your eyes appear larger. Putting eyeliner on the water line makes eyes look much smaller.
Hey Aly, I just wanted to thank you for this! I have hooded eyes with very little lid space and I thought maybe eyeshadows are just not for me. But when I tried following this tutorial it worked so beautifully! You improved my eyeshadow game by a 100%
This is what makeup tutorials on TH-cam used to be when it started. I didn’t realise how much I missed it until watching this video. This a true tutorial! Thank you Aly!
I have lower brows and because of that I hated eyeshadows because it never looked good at me and I sticked to maskara and a thin line of eyeliner but your video satisfied me,I like how your informations are always flexible and fits all,and makes us happy with our unique skin❤
After years of watching so many makeup tutorials from various artists, THIS is definetly the best technique i‘ve ever learned and it’s an absolute game changer! Thank you very much 🌹
I'm so excited for you to talk about drawing on eyeliner in the most flattering way, because I'm under the impression the line should angle from the corner of the eye to the end of the brow. Everybody I've seen goes way more horizontally with it, and that looks incongruous.
this is actually the BEST makeup channel on youtube. Hearing you and your explanations is like getting the REAL technique of makeup. I learnt how to eyeshadow my super.hooded eyes. thank you!!!
I learn the most useful techniques from Aly! I love that we aren't talking about product as much as canvases, the boundaries of placement. I always come away feeling like I understand my face better, thank you!!
This was a very interesting video! Would you mind making a video about the french/european eyeshadow placement you mentioned? It looks very elegant and discreet, but I don't know how it could be used on hooded eyes.
I love how you explain in detail making it easier to understand. Please also do eye make up tutorial on someone with hooded eyes, that'd be a great help Thankyou
This is the best video ever. I have large, deep set eyes with big lids and defined, round crease. I spend a lot of time pondering how I can do do my shadow without making my eyes look unbalanced. This video is so helpful. Thank you.
Aly, your videos have changed how I approach fashion and beauty for the better--I am so grateful to have found your channel! You are straightforward, logical and methodical yet still leave room for individuality, interpretation and even intuition when it comes to our own personal style which has allowed me to feel more free in experimentation and implementation of your tips and those I find from other sources! You are the first person I send to anyone who asks me how I began getting into personal style. Thank you for what you do!
Wow wow wow... this was so good and so easy to understand! I have prominent eyes (thank you btw for mentioning them, its hard to find many tutorials for this eye shape) but they are downturned at the outer corner + I have naturally low thick brows (thinning them out has not seemed to flatter my eyeshape more) so from the front they look a bit hooded. I always struggled from fear of blending up too high so I kept everything on the lid only. I also always struggled with looking even sleepier with makeup and I felt uncomfortable with having more night-time suited eyeshadow at work (even if it got the most compliments). I'm going to try this look, maybe with my bronzer or contour shade as well to see what I like most. It looks so natural and perfect for daily/daytime. Thank you, I am always happy to watch your videos ❤️
When I do wing liner, i never know exactly how to angle the flick. There's many tricks or tips I've watched but it never looks right to ME when I do it. I'm excited to see if it turns out better following this formula. Thank you!
Hallo Alyona! Thank you for this very, very good explanation. I love you as a wonderful young lady can help me older woman not to despair in makeup. Thank you dear! 🌹👍
Wow Im definitely trying this tomorrow! You are amazing to explain how, what and why for every step of the makeup, thank you for taking the time! You helping a lot of people😇🙏🏼Both looks you just created (day/night time) suit women for all age because its youthful and elegant🔥👏🏼
Thank you so much for this demonstration. It was very helpful for me as a visual learner. Thank you so much for all of your hard work. Have a wonderful day 😍
Your right eyebrow (left from vantage point), is about 2-3mm too short. Which is why the shadow shape does not match with your other eye, which is on point perfectly done
Wow, Aly, I thought I have been doing something similar, following my natural shape. But this trick with exact measuring of the distance brings it to the next, scientific level! 😃With this technique the eye looks very harmonious to the face, both in shape and size. Thank you so much! And a question: where do you get this knowledge? Is it from your own experience and observations, books/articles, drawing/architecture approaches?
Yo, Aly making me JOIN with an eyeshadow tutorial after eyeshadow tutorials stopped being the driving force behind the TH-cam beauty community. Fantastic job, girl! Simply fantastic and my hats off to you!
This is very thoughtfull. You are incredibly acurate and helpful. I ve learned so much. Thank you ! 🤩 I do love these lilac brusches also. 😉 Keep up your great work.
I have very deepset (or sunken) eyes - a bit like Cher except my eyes are roundeer - and I'd love to see your ideas on how to make them up. Do you have a video I should watch?
Your videos make me feel comfortable. It’s very simply filmed, informative and feels like an actual tutorial or make up videos we need more. As I enjoy watching ppl do their make up I don’t get how gurus get called make up gurus and ppl that do tutorials when they actually don’t.
Hello Aly, beautiful look and thank you for the video I learned a lot. However I do have some suggestions, personally I think using warm tones on your eyes, cheeks and lips would brighten your complexion a lot. I find that the tones you usually use tend to look grey and washed out especially with the nude lip. Anyway this is just my opinion, thank you for reading
Thank you! Great to know! My eyes are so deep set and my style so natural I don't know if I'll ever want eyeshadow there but am glad to know how just in case! I'm wondering how to pick a very nude looking eyeshadow good for very deep set small to medium almond eyes with heavy lid that makes them look partially closed.
I’m confused by the use of the term, “crease.” Sometimes it seems to be the physical crease between the lower and upper lid, and sometimes it is a new line drawn with shadow ABOVE where the actual physical crease is.
This always confused me as someone with monolid/hooded eyes. I've had the best results with ignoring any actual physical folds and just following the top of the eyeball shape. And then blending that line up a bit higher as well like in the video
Technically the crease is what you described: the skin fold. Buuut,... Since there are uncountable eyeshapes, you can place it wherever you want (Alyona placed it way above her real skin fold🤷🏻♀️). People with different epicanthus types are the masters of recreating all kind of new ones. Drags reposition it over the actual covered brow, so the fake brow ends on the middle of the forhead🙆🏻♀️😅 I' m getting older and there' some sagging skin. I ignore it and draw a new one (where it was before gravity did its job). About the brows,...it makes no sense at all that the nose is 100% reponsable of their curvature and length🤯. Basically, make sure that the person on the mirror is saying YASSSS with a smile. A MUA 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Finally I'm hearing that someone else, beside myself, thinks that 217 is a bit harsh. I've bought it a long time ago, but haven't used it much because of that scratchiness. Maybe the new ones, that are made of synthetic fibres, would feel better on the skin...
Hi aly Would u bring some models sometimes with the features ure talking bout For exemple lower eyrbrows I think ull explore it better nd we get u better
I recently had a color analysis where I turned out to be a winter, but with all I have watched in your videos I’m in doubt now, because I have like brown hazel eyes, and my skin undertone seems to me to be on the warm side 😅, what can I do be 100% sure? I hope you can give a good advice 😊
I would love to see a video on contouring of face. You make it so simple & easy to understand. You are beautiful & I love your accent. I just wish you didn’t do Botox-you are so beautiful you do not need it.
When it comes to outlining the crease, I didn’t understand what you meant by “ this point” and the crease. Can you please describe which point it actually is? It’s the one right before the tip of the brow and the crease.
I just had the idea to talk about people who have a vertical line that's opposite of what their height is. I know a TH-camr who people always assume is over 6 feet but turns out is only 5' 6
So if you have a mono lid or a very hooded lid where your lid hits your lash line....what size brush do you use? I feel like that sentence was cut off and I missed the size of the brush. Thanks.
Oh wow, finally somebody explained what it translates to in practice that the size of your brush(es) should fit your eyes!!!! THANK YOU!
I use MYKITCO brushes, I have a small amount of lid space and they have such tiny brushes that fit my eye perfectly! :)
@@oldaccxunt yes but they are expensive af

This is the only way I can learn. I need a formula, exact formula. Thanks Aly. Excited to see if you will do one similar with blush or contour etc. 🤩
Tried it today and will do this method ForEver! 👍🏼
Thank-you for saying dark eyeliner all around eyes makes your eyes look smaller. I have small eyes and people have argued with me that if I line top AND bottom , it will "open up my eyes". I tell them, "what looks bigger, a picture with a black frame, or a picture with a white frame?"
True I like my eyes smaller so I put black in my waterline and a bit below
I think if you put some dark eyeshadow to line under your eyes, but do not put anything on your water line, it will make your eyes appear larger. Putting eyeliner on the water line makes eyes look much smaller.
Yep, I have larger eyes, so I sometimes line both lids to downplay
if you want larger eyes, i suggest looking into east asian make up tutorials
I have been watching makeup tutorials for probably 10 years. This was so clear and useful!!
Hey Aly, I just wanted to thank you for this! I have hooded eyes with very little lid space and I thought maybe eyeshadows are just not for me. But when I tried following this tutorial it worked so beautifully! You improved my eyeshadow game by a 100%
I LOVE how general yet inclusive you are when it comes to educating us on beauty and fashion! 💛

Yes!! Hooded eye tutorial please!!
Mid thirties and I finally found out how to properly do eye makeup. God bless!
I did everything as the video was playing and I got a great result! Loved how it turned out, thank you 💞
I have hooded eyes and low eyebrows so I have such small space to do eyeshadow that I usually forgo it. I can't wait to try this!

I love elongated brows. Look at Monica Bellucci, she has quite long brows that go down and it looks amazing

I just wanted to make an important note. I used to do brows, and when measuring you should always use the nose tip to measure, not the nostrils

Hello Aly, beautiful look and thank you for the video I learned a lot. After this video - I'm totally fixed on your lower LIP!!! IT'S GORGEOUS! 🥰 How..?
She uses a slightly darker lip liner and lighter lip color, so it looks poutier.
@@lilibetp Also, the liner straddles her natural lip line. This makes the lower lip look slightly larger, without being obviously overdrawn.
It looks great on you
Thank you, Aly!

Hey Aly are you doing personal analysis? I would like to know which haircut suits me the best with a bang ^^ thanks a lot
Can you please tell me what books you are reading for this wonderful information???

Is it between the end of the eye and the crease?
I love the way you cut ur videos
The size of brush should be the size of the space between the crease and brow or half that space size?
half the size of the space between crease and brow :)
Thank you!!! ❣️
where do you buy those sleeveless shirts like the one you’re wearing? very gamine
Hi! Do you get botox and could you make a video about it? I'm trying to decide if I should get it.
