To be fair it was super predictable. From Emma's backstory in the beginning, her relationship with Mikey and everything else, it was obvious she was gonna be killed this episode.
Kisaki's kill plan was SO ON SIGHT just like the way Roshi knew it was gonna happen. Because Izana cares more about his Toman/Tenjiku crime syndicate than his actual step-family 💀💀
In Takemichis defense, Kisaki riding towards him and Emma was only three panels in the manga so in reality he had no time to react. Michi only covering his head from the blow was a natural reaction because for a few days, especially a few hours prior Tenjiku was only targeting Toman captains. He literally pieced together that Emma might not be in the future but couldn’t be sure, so it’s normal for him to assume that she wouldn’t die in that moment because he just began to connect the dots.
yea idk why tf people act like he's dumb for thinking they were going after him and not emma when this was literally like a day after the toman meeting where they discuss how all of the toman captains have been getting ambushed by armed tenjiku members
Ok, I’m tired of the mental gymnastics. “IN REALITY,” you can hear a speeding motorcycle coming your way from half a mile away. This was on an empty street, but Takemitchy has the reaction time and spatial awareness of a dead horse. Manga panels also aren’t a good way to measure actual time frame. Like a lot of dumbshit in this show, this death was forced for plot. The more you try to make sense of it, the dumber you’ll sound.

In defense of Takemichi, remember that 5 minutes of internal character chatter is actually 1.5 seconds of real time, plus when you're a punching bag, and you see two guys on a motorcycle with a bat coming towards you, obviously you're going to think that they want to hit you, and when you see a motorcycle at maximum speed coming towards you, you don't have much time to think either hahaha. Thank you. Everyone thinks Takemitchy was somehow supposed to piece together in that moment that Emma dies by Kisaki, with next to no evidence from his perspective that would make him deduce that. People keep blaming Takemichi for not protecting Emma but 1. Realistically, the whole thing probably happened so fast he didn’t have time to do anything 2. He had no reason to think Emma was their target. So far, Tenjiku had only been targeting Toman members and he had only just started considering the possibility that something might’ve happened to her in the future. If anything, he probably thought they were after him And for the whole “Why hasn’t he just shot Kisaki yet?” thing, it’s not like he knows where to find him. And he doesn’t have a gun or even know where to get one
And its not like since we've seen Kisaki he isn't surrounded by like 10 other guys. And gang politics also go into it if kisaki was killed when he was in Toman then there would be infighting. And they act like Takemitchi has known Kisaki for a long time. Kisaki was only in Toman for a little while, and after he left he basically went straight to Tenjiku. These reactors know Kiaskis smart but they expect the answer to be as easy as just kill him?
I'll give second point but not the first one. Takemichi had the time hear the bat, see the bike, says Kisaki's name and duck. It wasn't that fast. For the last point, i would've agreed with you he actually tried to find him but Takemichi didn't try to find Kisaki and kill him, he focused on getting the black dragon. He has to kill him the weapon is irrelevant.
To play devils advocate on your point 1 don't use let's be realistic on anime we've seen mikey survive 2 hits from a crowbar in the face and draken fight 100 people and win none of that is realistic. Idk about the manga but that biked looked slow enough for takemichi to react. Makes it feel like if mikey or draken was in this same situation they would had time to react.

I like how Takemichi saves people and a couple times when he doesn't all of a sudden people start to shit on him and call him useless. He just heard from Hakkai that Smiley and Mitsuya were put in the hospital by being rode down on and when they were coming towards him he thought they were after him he doesn't have the outside knowledge we do.

For those who are questioning why Takemitchi said the part regarding Kisaki and Emma that’s a mistranslation on Hulu’s part. In the manga, Takemitchi was surprised Kisaki directly got himself involved and killed her himself when Kisaki never did that in the future. He’s always had other people kill Hinata. Even Hanma makes the remark that he’s surprised Kisaki is about to kill Emma himself because it’s unlike him. So that’s why. Because remember killing and harming women and smaller kids are viewed as vile. And none of them are full blown criminals yet. They’re delinquents. Also, why is everyone acting like this the first anime that’s done a dramatic as pause for a scene that happens in a few seconds? Emma getting clocked happened in less than 3 seconds. Also, I’ll say it, in the manga I said, Takemitchi the only one whose natural instinct is to block? Also, Draken blaming Mikey for Pah-chin, Baji, and Kazutora is wild despite knowing Draken is experiencing grief. Pah-chin in jail for stabbing a guy in the back and Draken said they shouldn’t bail him out to respect his wishes. Kazutora killed his brother and played a role in Baji death. Baji ensured he would die of his own hands to alleviate Kazutora of his crimes and to get Mikey to forgive him. How the hell is that Mikey’s fault? Takemitchi was like if you upset with anyone and want to take it out on somebody, let it be me. Yet Draken stayed hitting Mikey who just took it.

The anime did a bad job of showing how fast the motorcycle scene actually was. There was no way takemichi could save her. He didn’t even fully realize that Kisaki was going to kill her, he was only starting to put it together. Think about mph that motorcycle was going even if he pushed her out of the way at the speed of light takemichi gets hit and dies instead and then they kill her later. He was just too late.

It’s not his fault she died that’s kisaki’s but takemitchy should be more smarter. He knows gangs go after girls, and in reality family is targeted. Why wouldn’t Emma be?
@@Thesilentvoice... because just before this meeting it was shown that tenjiku were going after toman captians. its only fair that mitchy would also think that they were after him since kisaki already told him that he will get to him. and all of this happened in a span of 3 seconds. the scene looked slow only for us viewers so that we can understand what is happening. in reality it was 3 seconds, the bike was going at over 200mph and mitchy had just started connecting the dots, there is no way he could have known that in that exact moment they would go after emma rather than him consedering that they were attacking toman members and captians.
I get that. All I am saying is he should of thought of Emma's role in this whole overall issue regarding Mikey's downfall and Kisaki's manipulation, the moment he knew she is mikey's sister. I am more mad at the fact that he only thought of it this episode. Especially since gang member families are always targeted, and Takemitchy knows Mikey losing his brother added to the change of him. I know Takemitchy's thinking about Toman captains getting jumped, and he's afraid for himself, but if that's the case he shouldn't have been outside at all until the fight. The only way he helped here is seeing that Kisaki killed Emma, because in the og timeline Mikey never knew. Emma's death could have been prevented not at this moment, but if he had thought of her involvement early on since s1. There's no reason why he never thought about her and her whereabouts or the fact she could get hurt. Can we address how everybody in Toman dropped the ball on this one and not have Takemichi always take the blame for everything. Tenjiku was violently taking out Toman captains and Takemichi was the last one left. Everybody should have expected that he was going to be targeted and yet; Mikey sent his own sister with Takemichi alone knowing this... The entire first division was not there to protect him... Inupi literally left his new captain alone for no good reason knowing this... And what is Draken doing on the day of the battle??? and Emma didn't move her own ass out of the way. There was no reason to suspect that Emma was a target. Even if Takemichi somehow managed to put all of those pieces together and come to that conclusion in the microseconds leading to the attack, he was still too far away from Emma to do anything more than literally jump in front of the bike. Sometimes the hate on him has no logic at all.
I think the mistake is takemitchy never thought of Emma as a target from the moment he know Emma is mickeys sister. Since s1 I’ve thought she would be targeted somehow down the line and I was right. If hina, pahs friends girlfriend and other girls get hurt sooner Emma would. I wish he thought of this possibility sooner. Not so late right now. I do think he should have taken Emma away as he knew he’s being targeted. He needs to be more cautious a little but it’s not his fault Emma died.

He saw how close Mikey and Emma are in person, so the thought not running through his mind until now is a bit frustrating as he should be over analysing everything about Mikey to ensure he doesn’t change. Family has been a factor losing his brother so what about Emma? Many other viewers saw her as a potential target too as anime only before this episode. He saw that Emma is a constant in mikeys life. I noticed Emma’s importance since s1 and as a anime only I knew she would soon get targeted. Even though the show never focused on her, she’s mikeys sister and drakens crush, she’s always around them and is bound to be targeted. It’s not his fault here but he needs to be very careful now, because Mikey and draken will change after Emma’s death and he needs to ensure they don’t turn like tenjiku.

His other issue is that he doesn't take full advantage of his time leaps. Like he goes back to the future and finds one person "that's the cause of everything" and just acts on that. He should be keeping tabs on all the members movements/origins in the future. Hina's lil bro is a cop, so he definitely has access to the info. Look at the situation from multiple angles, then make your plan. And if taking the time( in any of the bad futures where he's able to do so ) to research these gang members is "too op" or "unrealistic" then I guess I'm the most broken protag in the history of fiction 🤦🏾♂️

If you were paying attention, you would have noticed that whenever Takemichi was in the future, Kisaki always knew where he was and what he was doing, which means he was in Kisaki's sights, while he himself had no idea what was happening, and he needed time to gather information. Naoto has access to information, but the police are also in Kisaki’s hands and if you are careless, everything will end, just like it happened the last time. As for the Shonen protagonists, almost all of them were already strong at the beginning of the story... Naruto had a Fox, Luffy had a gomu gomu no, Itadori had super strength from birth. Almost all the protagonists are “chosen ones,” but Takemichi is not the chosen one, he’s just a guy passing by, who has such a complicated and difficult life. He is written as a very ordinary person who behaves like an ordinary person. Yes, he’s a little slow-witted, but if you got hit in the head so many times, I assure you, your head wouldn’t work at all. He's not stupid, he's just slow on the uptake, which is common to many ordinary people. Not all ordinary people are able to quickly find their bearings, quickly organize everything and make a move. You're too focused on the fact that this is an anime, and here the protagonist should always be the best in everything

That's pretty much writing problem with Tokyo revenger the female cast are terribly written you have Emma who is just existing and didn't involved in the plot until now when she does she just straight up dies. With Hina she is more of a plot device than actual character she is the ideal girlfriend brave,kind and loyal have no real flaw besides dying over and over again. to understand how Kisaki approached Mikey in the future. In thah timeline, Takemichi wasn't there went Emma was hit, so Mikey never knew who committed the murder. Izana approached him, and made him sink deeper into the darkness. At that moment Mikey was destroyed anyway, he didn't care what would happen.

Okay so let me get this straight. Some of you are saying this isn't takemichi's fault. Gonna be completely honest Mikey, Emma, inupi, AND Takemichi are all at fault here. 1. They are in the middle of a gang war. One where they know the other side is playing dirty and armed with weapons. There is no excuse for any of them to have their guard down ESPECIALLY when you can hear motorcycles from like half a mile away. Common transportation or not the fact they are in this situation means they should be prepared for anything and be alert to any bike that sounds even remotely close to them. 2. Izana, THE BOSS OF THE RIVAL GANG, just casually showed up where they were. Are you telling me that it's natural that they all still were super lax in this situation? No one expected anything bad to happen? 3. Mikey sent Takemichi the kid with no combat ability to get Emma away from izana and protect her. He could have sent inupi with them that way there is at least one person who can fight to some extent, but no only Takemichi was sent. The time frame to react to the bike is irrelevant because they had all signs in the world things could turn bad at a moments notice but all of the people there were far too lax about the situation and as a result Emma got domed. I don't see how we can sit here and try and pretend that Takemichi did nothing wrong, all of the toman members there did literally everything they possibly could incorrectly

A 26 year old man, would have taken all the necessary notes and proceed to kill Kisaki after a few loops. Takemichi is the only one to go with the flow slowly.
He didn’t have time and before you say he did, no he didn’t you have to remember all his thinking that makes it look like it’s been 10 secs in reality it’s been one. If you see it in the manga it was a instantaneous thing. Similarity to the scene in season one with Hina in the car, it looked like she had time in the anime but in the manga it was much much faster. No time to react.

This was a really frustrating episode, I do wonder why Mikey is so... forgiving of Takemichi for all his faults. He reminds him of his big brother, yeah, yeah. I think a big part of the reason why Mikey keeps turning evil is that 99% of the fighting force behind Toman all falls on Mikey's power, it's too much for the kid, he's going to snap one way or another. Too many baddies after his neck, not enough friends who are strong enough to properly watch Mikey's back.
Saying this as best as I can without saying too much- Because Mikey is literally attached to Takemichi. He reminds him of people he loves that have passed away so much that he would never let him go or do anything with anyone else depending who they are. Mikey physically needs someone to be there for him after everything he’s been through and everything that he is going through so Takemichi, who is like someone he knows and loves dearly, is a perfect fit. His emotions literally depend on him a lot of the time.
I think toman turns bad because of Mikey's terrible decisions alongside his fighting force. He should have never made valhalla, mobieus or any of black dragon members (except those like Inpui/Koko who have good intentions) into toman. Nor have Kisaki anywhere never the group to begin with, knowing he was the reason why Baji is dead and why Kazutora went rogue against Mikey. Mikey shouldn't be the leader. He's strength is what got him to be leader, but he isn't a good one. Either Drakken or Takemitchy should be as they see Takemitchy like Shinchiro who's the ''hero''.

My theory to the reason why Takemichi didn't think about Emma at that moment is because as soon as he saw that it was Kisaki, Takemichi thought that Kisaki was gonna hit HIM and not Emma cuz Kisaki has always gone after Takemichi, and Takemichi knows that Kisaki wants to wipe him out and braced himself for that. And this happens so fast that even if Takemichi somehow realizes the actual problem mid event it would've probably been too late anyway. And then there's the animation studio. It isn't the best of the best. They tend to a lot of drawn out shots that make things look awkward and slow while in the manga it's probably (haven't read it) just a few frames. A different studio would've probably done the scene different like making it more unexpected, dynamic and less drawn out to not make it seem like Takemichi has a million seconds to think and take action. In Takemichis defense, Kisaki riding towards him and Emma was only three panels in the manga so in reality he had no time to react. Michi only covering his head from the blow was a natural reaction because for a few days, especially a few hours prior Tenjiku was only targeting Toman captains. He literally pieced together that Emma might not be in the future but couldn’t be sure, so it’s normal for him to assume that she wouldn’t die in that moment because he just began to connect the dots.

2. He had no reason to think Emma was their target. So far, Tenjiku had only been targeting Toman members and he had only just started considering the possibility that something might’ve happened to her in the future. If anything, he probably thought they were after him
And for the whole “Why hasn’t he just shot Kisaki yet?” thing, it’s not like he knows where to find him. And he doesn’t have a gun or even know where to get one
And its not like since we've seen Kisaki he isn't surrounded by like 10 other guys. And gang politics also go into it if kisaki was killed when he was in Toman then there would be infighting. And they act like Takemitchi has known Kisaki for a long time. Kisaki was only in Toman for a little while, and after he left he basically went straight to Tenjiku. In the manga, Takemitchi was surprised Kisaki directly got himself involved and killed her himself when Kisaki never did that in the future. He’s always had other people kill Hinata. Even Hanma makes the remark that he’s surprised Kisaki is about to kill Emma himself because it’s unlike him. So that’s why. Because remember killing and harming women and smaller kids are viewed as vile. And none of them are full blown criminals yet. They’re delinquents.
Also, why is everyone acting like this the first anime that’s done a dramatic as pause for a scene that happens in a few seconds? Emma getting clocked happened in less than 3 seconds. Also, I’ll say it, in the manga I said, Takemitchi the only one whose natural instinct is to block? Emma just saw the bike and bat too and was like 🧍🏾♀️ Like I say if people argue Takemitchi is stupid for acting on natural instinct and going immediate defense, Emma stupid for just standing there and watching the shit unfold.

It was completely messed up on Draken’s part and showed how all the OG Toman members really heavily relied on Mikey and never really supported him mentally or emotionally. Even Draken who Mikey considers like a brother relied on him. And if shit was out of Mikey’s control, everyone blamed him. Draken beating on Mikey like he the only one that loved Emma. Also, Draken blaming Mikey for Pah-chin, Baji, and Kazutora is wild despite knowing Draken is experiencing grief. Pah-chin in jail for stabbing a guy in the back and Draken said they shouldn’t bail him out to respect his wishes. Kazutora killed his brother and played a role in Baji death. Baji ensured he would die of his own hands to alleviate Kazutora of his crimes and to get Mikey to forgive him. How the hell is that Mikey’s fault? Takemitchi was like if you upset with anyone and want to take it out on somebody, let it be me. Yet Draken stayed hitting Mikey who just took it.

I get that. All I am saying is he should of thought of Emma's role in this whole overall issue regarding Mikey's downfall and Kisaki's manipulation, the moment he knew she is mikey's sister. I know Takemitchy's thinking about Toman captains getting jumped, and he's afraid for himself, but if that's the case he shouldn't have been outside at all until the fight. The only way he helped here is seeing that Kisaki killed Emma, because in the og timeline Mikey never knew. Emma's death could have been prevented not at this moment, but if he had thought of her involvement early on since s1. There's no reason why he never thought about her and her whereabouts or the fact she could get hurt. Can we address how everybody in Toman dropped the ball on this one and not have Takemichi always take the blame for everything. Tenjiku was violently taking out Toman captains and Takemichi was the last one left. Everybody should have expected that he was going to be targeted and yet; Mikey sent his own sister with Takemichi alone knowing this... The entire first division was not there to protect him... Inupi literally left his new captain alone for no good reason knowing this... And what is Draken doing on the day of the battle??? and Emma didn't move her own ass out of the way. There was no reason to suspect that Emma was a target. Even if Takemichi somehow managed to put all of those pieces together and come to that conclusion in the microseconds leading to the attack, he was still too far away from Emma to do anything more than literally jump in front of the bike. Sometimes the hate on him has no logic at all.

How can they drip underneath them without attracting their attention? If you were paying attention, you would have noticed that whenever Takemichi was in the future, Kisaki always knew where he was and what he was doing, which means he was in Kisaki's sights, while he himself had no idea what was happening, and he needed time to gather information. Naoto has access to information, but the police are also in Kisaki’s hands and if you are careless, everything will end, just like it happened the last time.
As for the Shonen protagonists, almost all of them were already strong at the beginning of the story... Naruto had a Fox, Luffy had a gomu gomu no, Itadori had super strength from birth. Almost all the protagonists are “chosen ones,” but Takemichi is not the chosen one, he’s just a guy passing by, who has such a complicated and difficult life. He is written as a very ordinary person who behaves like an ordinary person. Yes, he’s a little slow-witted, but if you got hit in the head so many times, I assure you, your head wouldn’t work at all. He's not stupid, he's just slow on the uptake, which is common to many ordinary people. Not all ordinary people are able to quickly find their bearings, quickly organize everything and make a move. You're too focused on the fact that this is an anime, and here the protagonist should always be the best in everything

Okay so let me get this straight. Some of you are saying this isn't takemichi's fault. Gonna be completely honest Mikey, Emma, inupi, AND Takemichi are all at fault here.
1. They are in the middle of a gang war. One where they know the other side is playing dirty and armed with weapons. There is no excuse for any of them to have their guard down ESPECIALLY when you can hear motorcycles from like half a mile away. Common transportation or not the fact they are in this situation means they should be prepared for anything and be alert to any bike that sounds even remotely close to them.
2. Izana, THE BOSS OF THE RIVAL GANG, just casually showed up where they were. Are you telling me that it's natural that they all still were super lax in this situation? No one expected anything bad to happen?
3. Mikey sent Takemichi the kid with no combat ability to get Emma away from izana and protect her. He could have sent inupi with them that way there is at least one person who can fight to some extent, but no only Takemichi was sent.
The time frame to react to the bike is irrelevant because they had all signs in the world things could turn bad at a moments notice but all of the people there were far too lax about the situation and as a result Emma got domed.
I don't see how we can sit here and try and pretend that Takemichi did nothing wrong, all of the toman members there did literally everything they possibly could incorrectly

love your guys reactions!! but it makes me laugh so much that you'll don't seem to understand that no one even questioned why emma wasn't in the future, until this exact moment around the same time takemichi. so why would takemichi even think that kisaki would be trying to kill her? he'd think that he was trying to go after him and that's why he tried to block himself (which in all honesty i think everyone here if there was a dude on a bike speeding towards you with a bat, rationally you'd try and either block it or get out of the way). also everyone seems to shit on takemichi so much as a MC but like, he's supposed to be portrayed as like that HUMAN main character if that makes sense like, he's supposed to show that you don't have to be super strong or shit like that to be a main character. that's why so many people put their faith in him. rip emma she truly deserved better :(

He didn’t have time and before you say he did, no he didn’t you have to remember all his thinking that makes it look like it’s been 10 secs in reality it’s been one. If you see it in the manga it was a instantaneous thing. Similarity to the scene in season one with Hina in the car, it looked like she had time in the anime but in the manga it was much much faster. No time to react.

This was a really frustrating episode, I do wonder why Mikey is so... forgiving of Takemichi for all his faults. He reminds him of his big brother, yeah, yeah. I think a big part of the reason why Mikey keeps turning evil is that 99% of the fighting force behind Toman all falls on Mikey's power, it's too much for the kid, he's going to snap one way or another. Too many baddies after his neck, not enough friends who are strong enough to properly watch Mikey's back.

Because Mikey is literally attached to Takemichi. He reminds him of people he loves that have passed away so much that he would never let him go or do anything with anyone else depending who they are. Mikey physically needs someone to be there for him after everything he’s been through and everything that he is going through so Takemichi, who is like someone he knows and loves dearly, is a perfect fit. His emotions literally depend on him a lot of the time.
I think toman turns bad because of Mikey's terrible decisions alongside his fighting force. He should have never made valhalla, mobieus or any of black dragon members (except those like Inpui/Koko who have good intentions) into toman. Nor have Kisaki anywhere never the group to begin with, knowing he was the reason why Baji is dead and why Kazutora went rogue against Mikey. Mikey shouldn't be the leader. He's strength is what got him to be leader, but he isn't a good one. Either Drakken or Takemitchy should be as they see Takemitchy like Shinchiro who's the ''hero''.

My theory to the reason why Takemichi didn't think about Emma at that moment is because as soon as he saw that it was Kisaki, Takemichi thought that Kisaki was gonna hit HIM and not Emma cuz Kisaki has always gone after Takemichi, and Takemichi knows that Kisaki wants to wipe him out and braced himself for that. And this happens so fast that even if Takemichi somehow realizes the actual problem mid event it would've probably been too late anyway.
And then there's the animation studio. It isn't the best of the best. They tend to a lot of drawn out shots that make things look awkward and slow while in the manga it's probably (haven't read it) just a few frames. A different studio would've probably done the scene different like making it more unexpected, dynamic and less drawn out to not make it seem like Takemichi has a million seconds to think and take action. Anyway, that's my take. Rip Emma

So why would Takemitchi have a reason to think he was gonna kill Emma? Imo his reaction was definitely justified
