I'll keep saying it under every video. Jesse has been killing it lately with this channel and the second channel. So much amazing content. Most youtube channels fade away after a while but Jesse still has the same quality after a decade.
Jesse was thinking of the game Fear Effect. It released for PSX in 2000, and had a PS2 sequel in 2001. A remake was announced in 2017, but there hasn't been squat since.
I am late to the party but congratulations for the 1 mil subs! I know it's a milestone you've been trying to reach for many years now and the absolute madlad has finally done it. Thank you Jesse for all the entertainment throughout the many years, your content has been comfort watch to me for more than half of my life. Keep on trucking you beautiful man
0:57 "FUCK, THAT'S WHERE WE ARE?" me as a little kid when my parents tricked me into the haunted mansion line at disney land after I explicitly said I wasn't going on haunted mansion
The game Jesse is thinking about is Fear Effect 2. The scene where the two main characters strip in front of a security camera in an elevator was notorious at the time lol. Every teenage boy with a PS1 had that game, rented it or played it at a buddys house. That scene was a major part of the games advertising as well, at least in magazines at the time. You could NOT avoid hearing about the "Lesbian game." Bonus fun fact; If you watch the intro to any episode of "Gentleman's Gaming club" you'll notice that someone in Jesse's office, or the props department, owns a copy of the first fear effect game. Every time a new gentleman's gaming club drops I always hope they're going to dust off that copy of Fear Effect and rip into that nutty mess of a game because it has everything the boys would want in a game.
Here's the thing. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you are alone and you find random keys, med kits and notes, GTFO. Immediately. Call you dad. You're in a horror game!
That's every second house around here. A med kit because you need one at hand because the nearest town is an hour away and an assortment of old keys that probably go somewhere but sortin them out after decades of aggregated keys is work. Notes are optional.
I appreciate a game that takes time to make a great status screen. Once Davis picked up the handgun and opened the inventory I was immediately impressed by the late 90's early 2000's menu. Even the character portrait reminds me of the anime style from that era.
Couldn't agree more! I'm totally down for them playing anything, but Signalis is the one game I'm praying will turn up in my sub box one day. Such a phenomenal survival horror title.
Fear Effect 2, which is a prequel, is the name of the game with two women naked in the elevator. In 1, one of the same women drops the towel she is wearing, to distract or avoid getting shot by a guard. I remember Fear Effect 2 having a weird order of swapping discs and even swapping after completing half of the content on each disc.
If you think that is a happy ending you don't understand the implication. They killed themselves so a they would become NPCs in an MMO. They don't live there. Even worse, it's arguably a Sex-MMO.
@@jasperzanovich2504 First off, how are they NPCs? They literally have sapience and autonomy, at best they're digital ghosts. Second, if you're implying that any of the other users who haven't uploaded "full-time" have more control over the ones that do, that's your weird interpretation. There are zero instances of that in the episode, nor is there any implication of such in its epilogue.
@@jasperzanovich2504what 😂 Did you even watch it. One was sick and dying. The whole point is they wanted more time together so she ended her physical life to join her. In what fking world was it just about sex?

Love it when you cover PSX style games like this. On that note, I'd be super excited to see you guys eventually cover the indie game Signalis one day. Until then, thank you for releasing so many new SGS adventures so frequently. You boys are the best!
Them losing their minds over Signalis would be such a treat! Also totally same on the retro-style games. Its such an interesting area of indie development.
OMG Thank you Alex! I could not remember the PSP game, The 3rd Birthday. I remember playing that game and this reminds me of that game, which was insane.
Ah sweet - I kept seeing this on Itchio and I kept putting off trying it - seems like a great one to get - thanks again folks! Once again you show me another great game :D
"The Third Birthday is a Parasite Eve game." No. No, it really isn't. Like, at all. It's a shitty, plot hole-filled mess of a Quantum Leap wannabe that skinned Aya Brea and put her on like an ill-fitting suit.
I'm so hyped for the full-game🌊💀🌊 I love aquatic themes in games. You probably never gonna read this, but I have to thank you Jesse 🙏 because you basically started my youtube "carrier". You and the Scary Game Squad gave me the motivation to make content about the PS1 Style niche :) If you need a PSX model of yourself let me know 😅
So many game demos, so many teasers for cool stories! Hopefully we get to see the rest of the storylines when the games release in full (please, especially the partial FMV game)
This was so much fun and made me super happy. I hope that soon, we all get to see what comes next! I won't spoil anything but the last minute or so? Best Part.
i expected to see loads of comments on 4:05 but i dont see any. The game was Fear effect. the scene he is talking about is fear effect 2 and it was famous because the protagonists were two lesbians. The first game though was famous because it was cool. The vibe and atmosphere, it was a tank control artful game. It was kinda strange but kinda cool
This game has kind of an Uncanny Valley effect, but for old Playstation games. I love it! The textures are a little bit too good, there are a few too many polygons in each scene, the animations during cutscenes are too smooth and look like they were actually motion captured, and enemies ragdoll when killed. These are all good things by the way, it just adds to that uncanny valley feeling, which is probably intentional.
Probably the two-hundredth person to yell this at the screen Fear Effect 2. The funny part is there is a close up shot of the game box in the opening of Gentlemen's Gaming Club (I know technically it was from the first game but same franchise)! Also I'm gonna keep suggesting Dark Deception. There's duck boss you have to evade! Its like it was tailor made for SGS.
This has very strong Dino Crisis and Resident Evil vibes and I'm loving it. Aand then we hit disc 2 with the FF7 vibes... Is this some sort of pre-MAKO Shinra drilling operation gone Resident Evil or something?
There's probably a limit to how far the devs wanted to go for PS1 authenticity, but the game doesn't have that slightly disjointed, over-pronounced dialogue thing that was common at the time, presumably to offset the lower voice audio quality. The voice acting here is actually a little too good.
Always wanted an Resi style underwater survival horror game. Always wondered wy no one touched the theme. Dino Crisis 2 underwater sequence was scary af.
As @Cozy90X said in another comment, there was Deep Fear for the Sega Saturn and then Carrier for Dreamcast. There were a few diving games with horror-ish elements to them for the PS1, but I assume technology really wasn't there yet.
31:07 There are 3 notes that play in succession at the 31:11 mark in this area, and it sounds so Metroid to me. The closest I could find is the title screen from Metroid Fusion, but there could be other games/areas I'm not aware of

It’s been longer than a decade I’m sure. The cox and crendor podcast was started in 2012.
I'd argue the quality has only gone up with time
Well said. I’m so glad Jesse has stuck around ❤
fell off in views tho
Absolutely loving these more frequent releases of SGS
Jesse was thinking of the game Fear Effect. It released for PSX in 2000, and had a PS2 sequel in 2001. A remake was announced in 2017, but there hasn't been squat since.
2 was PS1 also, yeah? I never did play it but I beat the first one and that game was awesome. Kind of hard to go back to these days, though.
Oh no, unfortunately there was a third one. It was Kickstarted. It was bad. Fear Effect Sedna.
The specific elevator scene is from the second one retro helix. The first one didn’t have the blonde girl in it.
It's also the game that slides out during Gentleman's Gaming Club so like how did he forget lol.
Just found the cutscene on youtube.....I can see why Jesse remembers it LMAO
I LOVE MY THREE DADS

I can't explain how cozy and comfortable SGS makes me feel

Really surprised Jesse didn't pick up on that one.

Nina and Anna - Tekken. The two naked girls they were referring to. It was in a shower I think. Legit cutscene in the game.
