For anyone that haven't give Deathtroopers the audio book a go do it! The book itself is great but what they did with sound effects etc for the audiobook just turns the scary/creepyness up to 11, it mixes in some real Deadspacey hivemind vibes with a pinch of The Thing and zombies ft some good new and classic SW characters.
@@rolandarriaga1295 I went checking again and the real audiobook used to be available but guess it has been taken down can only find a few separate chapters uploaded of it now other than that I can only find a fan reading sadly :c I'll remove the part about it being on youtube from the original comment. Got the audiobook during Halloween month to listen at work one time. The complete 180 on my emotions when walking back home still wracks my nerves to this day, it's an absolute must have.
I picked up the book this is based on on a whim back in high school. Thought “Oh, Star Wars with zombies, this’ll be fun.”…When the book describes prisoners placing bags over their heads to kill themselves once the outbreak happens, followed swiftly by Wookiees with their tongue so swollen they burst out of their throats, that’s when I knew it was a different beast.
davis is right: in star wars theres almost never blood spray because everyone is using lasers and lightsabers. i feel like a big budget deathtroopers could make a big deal out of that
There's a whole bunch of star wars cryptids that are really cool. Like the ghosts that live in hyper space and eat force users, nothing can properly hurt them so nothing stands a chance. It's crazy to think that there are "natural" things that could have just killed vader and there's nothing he could have done.
I saw this earlier today, and am stoked to see there's already a SGS video for it. When he said "there was a time when everything was zombies, like 2009," I was like, yeah, that's when the Deathroopers book came out. It's straight from the middle of that era.
I'd kill for a big budget Deathtrooper game. Ever since I first discovered it years ago, I wanted a game where you investigate an abandoned Star Destroyer and inevitably run into zombie Stormtroopers. It's such a cool premise.

In addition to the Apocalypse Now version of Endor he mentioned, there's also one where Chewy and Han warp to Earth by accident and implies that Chewy is the inspiration for the Sasquatch and one of my personal favorites, Skippy the Jedi Droid. They are a lot of fun and definitely worth taking a look into.
So I think in DT2 the reason it felt "more lethal" from further away is that there seems to be an overlap with the chest hitbox and the lower part of the head. Closer up you would be hitting the chest hitbox more often instead of the head, but at range it was easier to hit the head hitbox. The chest hitbox seems to extend a little past the model, meaning you're hitting the edge of the chest hitbox instead of the smaller head hitbox. Headshots seem to be one-shots, but it looks like it takes several chest shots to kill.
That makes total sense. I do really like the idea mechanically that enemies are harder to kill when they get closer. Your character is scared and panicking, so they miss more.

What If Star Wars -> Star Wars Infinities. Retells each of the original three movies as if one detail changed, causing the story to spiral in a different direction. In Return of the Jedi, they end up not meeting the Ewoks on Endor, so when the Rebels and Empire are fighting on the ground at the end, the Ewoks savagely attack *both* sides. Good stuff.
@@DrAustinSauce I'm talking about an actual comic that came out in the early 2000's. I don't need to write it because it already exists! 12 total issues, 4 each for ANH, Empire, and Jedi. And they're exactly that, butterfly effect stories where stuff goes off the rails. And they're separate stories (the Empire comic follows the movie ANH, not the events of the ANH Infinities comic, likewise Jedi follows the first two movies, and not either Infinity comic story), so you can read them in any order.
