    Sad to see this city experience a literal apocalypse, but the best part about LEGO is redesigning and rebuilding things into something totally different. Excited to see how the new city progresses!

    • @BevinsBricks
      @BevinsBricks  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That's always been why I loved Lego so much is it is basically recyclable in the sense you can build rip apart and build something new. I may be changing the scale of a lot of my future city buildings in a lot of ways, and I need a lot of baseplates to make it all happen.

    • @dustylegobricks

      I think you mean the table has experienced the apocalypse. The word apocalypse means revelation. That which is uncovered.

    • @BevinsBricks
      @BevinsBricks  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The train station is one of my oldest builds and I was actually bored with it 2 years ago. The airport to me hurt a little, as it was built after the airport I work at but it just hogs so much room I want to go a different direction.

    • @bretuecker

  • @brickpharmer
    @brickpharmer ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Sad to see some of those destroyed. The train station was the hardest to watch. It was so nice. I thought you were going to rip it apart just to part in 9v track, but apparently the whole thing needed to go. Well, that is the huge plus to Lego, its rebuildability. Hope you're having fun reinventing your city. I was super impressed with the "blue screen effect". That was awesome, I didn't see that coming.

    • @BevinsBricks
      @BevinsBricks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the train station actually upset quite a few people. As far as the track I had put 9 volt track in it 2 years ago. But removed it before dropping it just in case it got damaged. I was just personally bored with that build and felt it didn't fit with the new Direction I'm wanting to go. But yes I totally agree that is why I love Lego you can rip everything apart and reuse every piece. The best part is if I ever want to rebuild it I have instructions :) the blue screen effect for the clouds and such was a happy accident I kept staring at the wall and thinking I wonder if that would work and sure enough it did so that's what I'm running with. :)

A lot of my fans aren’t very happy with it, however at the end of the day it’s my city, I can do whatever I want with it. Wow it's really weird to see so many of the highlight builds from your city get dropped and destroyed. It has me definitely wondering what could be next. • @BevinsBricks
      @BevinsBricks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I thought the destruction may shock people but also know people love to see it happen. So I made sure to do it on screen. My main change is I'm gonna start trying to keep buildings smaller and no larger than 32x32 as with my normal build sizes it just kills the pocket book. This way I will actually be able to install interiors and other details a bit more easily.

I feel like a lot of lego city builders shy away from stuff like that because it requires a lot of pieces and building from scratch. But I feel you have the pieces and design skills to pull it off. Watching trains sweep around a grand curve is a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, LEGO curves (and switches) just don’t cut it - trains look awkward careening around the tight corner!
    Time to invest in third party wider radius metal curved track, I do declare.
    An L gauge Track planning PC app is a handy tool. They contain most of the third party track elements for layout planning. Play around with different layouts until you come up with a one you like, before buying anything.
    I used one for a narrow gauge layout with some lovely generous curves. The app was a bit rudimentary, but easy to follow and got the job done.
    Also you’ll find buildings, landscape elements, etc, look more natural stepped around wider radius curves.
    I really believe you’ll be much more satisfied with the result.

    About the 9V tracks layout, actually there's a bright side it only allow loops with double tracks: you can place more trains running at the same time, and they can go on opposite directions without crashing each other. 😉
    About the airport, I think that's the reason some users like Jangbricks don't wanna have them on city. But on the other hand, have you thought about having at least part of the airport building and just the end of the landing strip? In a way, you can say your city still have an airport, but it just don't spread over a huge area.
    About putting buildings apart, I wish I had the courage to do like you do. I'm afraid to break sensible parts, mainly plates and tiles, and the worse ones like dark blue, dark red and brown. 😁

      Very good point with the trains and I have a few ideas because I have some intersection pieces I would like to use.
      The airport I liked but I feel like I could do a much better terminal if I started from scratch but I'm not worried about an airport on this portion of the city. I think I may add another one at a later date though.
