When you think of all the different families each item has come from, and the previous roles they played for who knows how long, you truly feel that your house is the result of all those other lives and families who have passed their things on to you! And it gives you such a cozy family feeling that you have given them new life!
Wonderful job! Older, vintage items are generally better made than today’s products and they have far more interest and character than new things. You have a great eye for choosing and combining the pieces. All the best from 🇨🇦!
You're practicing a version of "Adopt, don't shop" ... BRAVO !!! I grew up haunting antique shops with my mom and grandmother, so I'm a huge fan of buying second hand. Your house looks gorgeous!
You could have had our king size wrought iron bedstead that looks very like that in prime condition for £25 on Facebook marketplace UK. We now live in southern Somerset, about 16 mins from Mapperton. But like you, I love shopping the flea markets. Brilliant job on the Italian renovation.
As a European I must say that all these items were extremely expensive. Many sellers of second-hand items take advantage of the fact that people are foreigners and inflate sales. When you buy second-hand parts try to go with someone from the zone, usually they will help you buy for the real value of the pieces.
Julie. Much love and respect for you. The fact that you. Always honor the paat, and those who walked before you..... Please reconsider the caption. You did things in a very creative and affordable way. And anyone that sold you something aided you in the process. Therefore the term "dirt cheap" Is not likely the way you want to be portrayed. any merchants locally sold you very beautiful items, and it would be best to say what amazing and stunning affordable treasures you found along the way. The dancing dollar signs were edited out as well would you think was a good idea.
Julie, you are a woman after my own heart! I love that there is a story behind each piece and each treasure! I simply CANNOT wait for the re-do of the kitchen! Brava for a job very, very well done! This looks like an amazing retreat that you will enjoy for many years to come!
It’s great to see everything together and finished since I watched you working on the project. Can’t wait to see what you are going to do with the kitchen
I have so enjoyed you galloping around feathering your Italian nest! But I must have missed the reason for this adventure!! Will you let us know ? Again?
The best part of being a late subscriber is that I get to go back and watch all of the “episodes” of the Little Italian House series ❤ what a great way to spend my rainy day.
You now have a beautiful Italian home. Too bad you can only stay there for a few days instead of months. Maybe you and Luke can vacation there for a month or two? That flea market offers a lot of lovely antiques. I love the letter holder and the jewelry box.
You are incredible Julie what can be said .....beautifully worked and thoughtfully with heart and love present to us in your generous share. So gifted and enthusiastic in every thing you do ...works of love and care for all things old with history and real life behind them. Tutti bellissima. Mille grazie ❤
I just love, love that you left the outside of the tub “as is”. It gives it so much character and speaks to all the ones who have used it through the decades if not longer. I like to leave vintage things, including furniture exactly as found unless unreasonable. I like scratches and all. You can get lost in the imagery of how was that dent made and by whom. Sanding and painting just buries fingerprints from generations past. This is only my personal quirk, if you will.
Love, love, love your incredible flea market finds, your exquisite taste, and the beautiful look of your little Italian home as it all comes together! Brava!!
The Marano mirrors are to die for and that wonderful master bedroom bed. How yummy and the good price is she got everything for even though she got things freshened up and repainted. Such a bargain and such a good eye..
I bought my antique claw foot cast iron bathtub for 300 euros. Never used, impeccable. It was used in a cotton towels shop window that closed . Love it . But paid 200 to deliver it to my house 😢
Hello, I have been following your programming for a while enjoying the historic tours of the manor homes. I love your showing the process of renovation from start to finish such as finding the repurposed furnishings in thrift markets and showing how you put it all together. It has given me many ideas on how to transform a room on a budget. Given there are so many choices and ways to decorate, I would love to see you discuss how you decide on particular choices for renovation, furnishings, designs, (home in Italy and Mapperton ), and put the rooms together, would be very interesting to learn.
What a splendid job you have done and as it was done over a couple of years the cash outlay wouldn’t be felt so painfully in one’s pocket. I’m in the process of building a slightly bigger home with a large sunroom which I’m furnishing entirely with chairs and a rattan love seat purchased either in antique shops, or Etsy. I am having them reupholstered but they’ll be exquisite, to my taste and bring us happiness which is what living the life is all about. Like you, I’ve had prints framed professionally to add that finishing touch and my collection of porcelain and family pictures spells Home. Congratulations on an incredible job well done!
Seeing your progress on the “little Italian house” is my favorite indulgence. The finished rooms are beautiful! I’m anxious to see the kitchen! Hugs from sunny Arizona 💖😎💖
So well done, so authentically charming. Love the light fixtures in the bathroom. The glass are called globes. They are fabulous. The whole thing - six euro each! Way to go! Best wishes from Long Grove Illinois.
You're so good at finding a bargain! It's often cheaper than buying something new, plus they're more unique and have character compared to something mass produced. Everything has a story
I also have a double bed iron headboard with beautiful mother if Pearl lilies painted on it. This headboard along with a matching footboard was bought second hand by my grandparents when they got married in 1910! I was thrilled when I saw them! Also inherited the dresser and 2 night stands that are covered in various woods that form a particular pattern. These too, are second hand and bought when they got married! I was really lucky no one threw them out!!
Julie, you are a woman after my own heart. Your little Italian house is just gorgeous. I love going to flea markets and seeing what I can find. Sometimes I go looking for a specific item and sometimes I just go to look and see what speaks to me. I’m sure you understand exactly when I say I have a picture in my minds eye of the look I’m going for and shop accordingly. The house is looking great, and you’ve done a stupendous job with the decorating and bringing it all together. I just can’t wait to see what the whole house is going to look like when you’re finally finished renovating. ❤️
You are awesome and so real and down to earth. I love all your videos and your appreciation of history in the homes of England. You just moved into the English aristocracy and embraced it and dove into the life in such a beautiful way. honestly I cannot tell you how inspirational you are. You are amazing!
Julie you are living my dream. Been watching TH-cam’s on moving to Italy buying a home so grateful I fell upon your channel. Truly love your down to earth personality and pleasures you find everyday
Stunning, Julie! I have the same philosophy about buying vintage/antiques. It is my way of recycling without tearing down a tree for a piece of furniture. For instance, I bought an antique oak round table for my dining room and searched high and low for four oak chairs. I even ventured two counties over and finally, two years later I found them at a local antique store. I refused to buy anything new when it came to my side oak table and I also have an antique oak sleigh bed. And what fun it is to bumble around flea and antique markets! Thank you for sharing your finds and your well thought out plans on how to furnish your fabulous Italian getaway. ❤️
Congratulations on your little Italian house. Just goes to show alot of hard work and elbow grease pays off. Your house is immaculately decorated and for me what makes it special is that you upcycled so many items. As well, you are lucky to have such a talented son in Nestor. He did an amazing job editing this video. Cheers from Australia.
So simple but elegant...not over the top with costs but quality items found or classic items given a new life...love the flow of decor...... bathroom floor is very beautiful and practical...thank you and you go girl... congratulations and well done
Amazing, amazing finds. And what a good eye you have for spotting all these gems and your ability to picture how and where you placed them. I live in Southern California and I just recently found a mirror almost identical to your oval mirror at a thrift store for $15! You have decorated these rooms so lovely and are an inspiration to me. Love your enthusiasm. I truly hope that you will be showing us all your finds in the downstairs rooms, too.
Absolutely fantastic! Three rooms and a hallway for those prices is amazing! I have found many great deals in my life, but my favorite was a beautiful Waterford Crystal Bowl in perfect condition that I got at a thrift store for $1.50!
Love the authenticity of the furniture and using and upcycling what already exists but I would have done something other than that half green or rose pink walls....maybe some textured paint or stencils on the walls but that is just my opinion. Would love to have a property like that to play with.
Everything looks fabulous! Love the rusty on the base of the tub. The cost of the lights by the mirror in the bathroom . . . that's amazing! You did a great job.
This is so beautiful and inspiring. I wish the flea markets near me had such treasures. Sadly many American flea markets have devolved and the quality has become so low where they are just full of the trash no one wanted to buy at the yard sale. Lots of plastic and worn out stuff that truly belong in a dumpster.
Lovely, Julie, bravo. Looking forward to seeing how you handle the central/entry parlor, and yes - your kitchen. As things continue to resolve, and your base stay sweeter, more comfortable, I'd imagine your walks to town, your "americano," that much more grounding, nourishing.
My grandfather was a carpenter and he used to make them from the 1920’s thru to the 1950’s and I still found some of them when I moved back here in the ‘80’s!!
Hi Julie, just started looking at property in Italy recently. I'm an Interior Decorator & Artist and decorate my home mainly from 2nd hand shops. I LOVE the hunt and find. I'm Canadian with a background of Maltese & have lived in the UK for many years, 20 yrs ago. I'm on my own now and really need a change, a move...thinking of making the plunge in my life. A little nervous as I'd be moving on my own. I just feel my heart is there, not here in Canada. Would you have moved there without having your children close by? My one and only dilemma!
Such a wonderful job on finishing things off! Love the chairs in the main bedroom, such a wonderful shape. All of the art looks beautiful in all rooms and the mirrors everywhere are perfect. We’ve been with you from the beginning and couldn’t be prouder of what you’ve done!
Love your finds but many were very expensive. I have the same small table you have in your bathroom but mine cost 5€. We get better prices here in Spain.
You have done a marvelous job - your decorating taste is just lovely. Looking forward to watching as you complete more projects. Hello from South Carolina!
I think you did a great job finding interesting pieces at bargain prices. love finding unique and used items because they have a history. My home is 98% second hand including dish and glass wares. My best find so far was 4 years ago when I found someone putting a 6 piece set of antique wicker furniture on the curb for trash pickup!!! He was hesitant to hold it for because I was heading out of town for the day and he wanted to make sure it was gone! I convinced him to hold it for me and when I got back a friend and I went and picked up the set!! He was a young guy and had no idea what he had and that it certainly wouldn’t have lasted long on the curb!! I’m excited about the kitchen!

Agreed, Julie! There’s so much on this planet to re-use. FANTASTIC job!! Looks amazing.🎉
I love everything!! Especially the crochet items.. 😊

Absolutely beautiful reno, Julie! I prefer antiques over modern furniture.
Love ❤the bathtub
Isn’t it so satisfying to surround yourself with beautiful things you personally selected! No matter the cost, small or large.
Every time I hear a babble ad, I think about Douglas Adams and the babble fish 🐟 Dirk Gently uses!
So Glad you changed the bathroom color. I knew it was too stimilating. The color is Perfect. BRAVO.

any merchants locally sold you very beautiful items, and it would be best to say what amazing and stunning affordable treasures you found along the way. The dancing dollar signs were edited out as well would you think was a good idea.
You are truly a girl from Illinois. We love to share our bargains. I was born and raised in Chicago. I now reside in Versailles Kentucky.
Julie, you are a woman after my own heart! I love that there is a story behind each piece and each treasure! I simply CANNOT wait for the re-do of the kitchen! Brava for a job very, very well done! This looks like an amazing retreat that you will enjoy for many years to come!
Thank you so much!
Could you please assemble a paint chip collection that you used? The Pantone color system would be the most helpful worldwide.
Amazingly beautiful!
It’s great to see everything together and finished since I watched you working on the project. Can’t wait to see what you are going to do with the kitchen
Yes, I wait too❤
It's all so beautiful and well curated. You've put your heart and soul into your little Italian home. Bravo!
Great deals, and the place is beautiful.
Beautifully done. What I like is that it is warm and inviting as opposed to so many homes that seem cold and austere. Love the tub!
I do the same with my house, I love all old and vintage furniture, my friends don't understand it all, they think I am odd,
I have a secretary desk like that. It is a blonde wood. It is being shipped to the states right now.
Maybe next time some vintage tiles would be great for the shower, so it matches the rest of the vintage bathroom look
You now have a beautiful Italian home. Too bad you can only stay there for a few days instead of months. Maybe you and Luke can vacation there for a month or two? That flea market offers a lot of lovely antiques. I love the letter holder and the jewelry box.
Maybe one day!
You are incredible Julie what can be said .....beautifully worked and thoughtfully with heart and love present to us in your generous share. Love those headboards❤ Where I live, I get amazing stuff super cheap, at my local non profit thrift store, and it helps house the homeless.
Looks lovely! So inspiring. Hope your the temperature isn’t too terribly hot for you.
Beautiful!! Well done! ❤️😊
Lovely! Every feature. Thank you for sharing the beauty of your lives.

Wow, the bathtub is fantastic. It's one of those things you can only see in western movies.
Julie you just turned that tub into a functional piece work of art !!
I love your style. You are a treasure I'm glad I found. The house is gorgeous.
You’ve done a great job in finding and restoring older items. Good for you!

My favorite room is the guest room; love the wall color and the way you did up the twin beds.
Nice that you changed the side tables in the main bedroom. Looks wonderful. 🎉. I so want a place in italy too but need your team! LOL
Julie you are living my dream. Been watching TH-cam’s on moving to Italy buying a home so grateful I fell upon your channel. Truly love your down to earth personality and pleasures you find everyday

Your Little Italian House looks beautiful. I'm enthralled ❤❤❤ You've got some fabulous pieces in there!
You have given the items a new home!! Found your yoga videos , totally changed my fitness routine while traveling through perimenopause. Thank you.

Not overly done just simple home-i-ness. Absolutely lovely! Nice video work, Nestor!

Fabulous antique finds. Everything looks fantastic. The amount of money saved by upcycling is incredible. Thanks so much for sharing.
Hi Julie, I enjoy your videos.I just used your link to buy a Babbel membership, thanks!
Amazing! You will love!
What fabulous history you have in those restored items - you have a fabulous eye and taste
How beautiful? Very! Thank you for sharing. Very encouraging.
I have an Italian house to clear out was going to throw everything in bin but its mostly 1930s-50s so I may just put it all on local Facebook.
Such beautiful finds. Please do add the flea markets you love to shop in.
My grandfather was a carpenter and he used to make them from the 1920’s thru to the 1950’s and I still found some of them when I moved back here in the ‘80’s!!

Absolutely beautiful!
I agree we can re use so much recycle products. Thrifting is my absolute favorite thing.
You did a fabulous job decorating this house on flea market finds!
Love your finds but many were very expensive. I have the same small table you have in your bathroom but mine cost 5€. We get better prices here in Spain.
You have done a marvelous job - your decorating taste is just lovely. Looking forward to watching as you complete more projects. Hello from South Carolina!
Thanks so much! 😊

These rooms are beautiful 😍 I ❤️ the bath tub. Divine! 👌
