- A crisp spring morning in the year 1908. The sun is peeking out through the passing clouds. The air smells fresh and floral, and the breeze is subtle. I sip on my tea and stroll through the garden, admiring each flower and plant and watching the butterflies flutter about. Listening to the sweet little birds sing, the swish of my dress, and the sound of my shoes tapping on the stone pathway. Feeling so much gratitude for a beautifully simple life.

Another beautiful journal, Katie! ❤❤❤ it seems like you use Velcro closures, but they are invisible, I can’t see them! What do you use?

Hi Katie, so sorry, this is totally in another direction, before I once more enjoy this video, you are a Journal genius. I so need your help. I am busy with a Forest and Fairy Journal. Done cover, Done 3 signitures and even the binding...BUT... I think now I should of made 4 signitures. I have gaps, from signiture to signiture you can see the spine. Approx. 1 cm gaps. All is sewn and done, PLEASE give me a solution what you would do to put in extra something. Purpose of making only 3 signitures, was I thought leave space for all the Ephemera and decor, but I think it was a bit too much.
Hi Sandy! I've definitely done this before myself. Other than just adding a bunch of ephemera, you could bulk it up by adding in more pages with washi tape. Or if it wouldn't be too much of a bother, you could even cut out your signatures and rebind them with a 4th signature. I'd do this by binding them to a separate piece of chipboard that's cut to the size of the spine, then attach the chipboard/signatures to the cover spine (hope that makes sense! 🙃)
@@katieroselyman Wow, that is why I asked you, you answer so quickly..Yes, it does make sense, so almost like joining in another thin signature of a few pages and actually also binding it to the spine in that gap. My previous binding is covered with my fabric cover so therefore this binding will show, but then just cover the spine part with some pretty lace. I see you have sometimes put extra pretty bits over the spine and it looks really nice. Hope I am also explaining myself properly. ☺
Oh wait, reading your text over and over, and now I see, extra board, ...bind pages to this bit of board that exactly fits the gap, then GLUE the piece of board and signature into the gap. No need to go through and ruin my cover. Aha.
@@sandyvanderlinde237 So what I would do is cut out the 3 signatures that you already sewed in and resew them with the 4th sig to a new chipboard piece (measure this piece the same width as your cover spine). And then glue the whole thing to the spine. Sorry if I made that confusing-- I think I'm not the best at explaining things, haha 🤭
